This is something that I randomly thought of -

Take Dervish and Ritualist from GW1 and merge them into one class

They would have…

- Heavy Armor
- Scythe and possibly Spear (as two whole new weapons)
- Access to Staff, Sword, Focus, Scepter

This “Dervish/Ritualist” hybrid would be able to…

1) Summon Spirits, but rather than Spirits – Avatars of the Gods
(Synergizes with Staff/Scepter/Focus)

2) Take on a manifestation of the Avatar of the Gods
(with each having their own unique weapon kit or just replacing the #2 or #3 skills)
(Synergizes with Sword/Staff/Scythe)

3) Pray to the Gods, with each God giving different Enchantments
(Different from Buffs entirely; for example, Pray to Balthazar and become infused with his power – dealing heavy fire aoe for the next 5 attacks) or (Pray to Lyssa and become infused with her power – causing the next 5 attacks to deal flat damage and inflict a random condition along with 1 stack of confusion per 3 seconds on each hit)

I could go on and on, but I want to hear the communities feedback! I believe that a class such as this could have a ton of diversity and potential.

If you give me the scythe, then i will be happy.
Personally i didnt like the manifestations of the gods in gw1 so you can skip those.

PS. i think that this belongs with the suggestions.

Not including the new weapons, you’ve just described a human guardian.

I would love to see the return of those classes (especially Ritualist <3), but a Hybrid class wouldn’t be very lore-friendly I guess. Ritualists and Dervishes are both some sort of priests of their home continent. Wouldn’t make much sense to see them both combined.
And why the heavy armor? Both classes never had heavy armor.

Reading your description, it kinda sounds that you just want the Dervish back. Can’t see much Ritualist stuff there. Where are all the ashes and weapon spells?
But as I said, most Ritualist spells were Cantha-themed. I don’t want them to suddenly forget everything that made them epic.

It’s totally fine that you want your Dervish back. But don’t ruin the Ritualist because of that.

Anet hates [your class], since [other classes] got buffs while [your class] only received nerfs.

The issue with having dervish ported into GW2 is that the charr have no gods, the Asura have the Eternal Alchemy, the Norn have the Spirits of the Wild, and the Sylvari have the Dream/Pale Tree. If it were implimented with the gods in mind it would likely be: A) extremely race-oriented and one race would likely come out on top as the “best” dervish, or not include the human gods at all, otherwise it would be a human-only class.

This

And if you want an Earth Magic regen Dervish, just go pure Melee Ranger :p
(yeah the worthless pet gets in the way but you can just pretend it’s an extra scythe as long as it’s a Drake) … got 50% longer Buff duration on mine & the second fastest movement rate in the game next to FGS Ele’s (without sacrificing the Elite for it)

My current thief chasing build is able to cover a 9k-14k distance in 4-6 seconds depending on whether or not I’ve got an enemy to tag/chase or ambience to jump to. No class thus far has been able to match that speed.
