Royal Pass be unlimited, like HoM Stone?
Yes, the 1000 gem pass is unlimited. It’s account bound. I loved mine since I got it on the one day sale at the start of January.

You missed the point of his post entirely. He wants a way to purchase the pass once, and use it on all of his characters simultaneously.
Gotta bank it for now, maybe one day we will be able to duplicate it but you have to consider a potential loss of sales. On that note, I would pay 2k gems for a duplicative version
The main issues with the pass are twofold. First is the same issue with other account bound items, namely the infinite gathering tools and the Salvage-O-Matic, that being that you basically have to use a bank as a relay point for any characters when you want to swap the items. While a “bank bag” which had an account-wide inventory (AKA it acts as a tiny, 20-slot mobile bank and takes up a bag slot) would be preferable, it’s likely not something that’ll happen. The second issue is the fact that the Terrace boots you out of it upon logging in, even if you have the pass in your inventory.
The primary stopgap solution I see for right now, would be to just not have the Terrace boot players out on login. Don’t let them IN unless they have the pass, but if they have it, you can likely assume that they got in there legit. You still need to use the bank to hand the pass off to any alts, but at least you can use the bank in the Terrace, instead of having to walk to the one in DR, or wait through the loading screen. This item is all about convenience, so it should definitely be as convenient as possible for players to use.
I recognise that these issues may be getting fixed in the feature patch. But since the pass is only on sale for one day, it’s likely best to tell us NOW if what issues will be getting fixed, what won’t be fixed yet (but are planned to be) and what issues will not be worked on. If I were to be told that at the least it booting you out on login would be getting fixed? I would instantly buy the pass. But currently it doesn’t seem like 1k gems worth of convenience to me.

Well the question you need to ask yourself is: does ANet only want to buy 1 pass? Sure it’s account bound so you can swap it around, but there comes a point where player convenience means shooting themselves in the foot. As it currently is as long as you’re not an alt-aholic it works fine, or if you’re busy focusing on level a character.
Yes, except that same logic can apply to the infinite gathering tools, and we know how that turned out. And I wager it was both greatly preferred by players and resulted in them selling more of the tools in general.
Yeah i do figure, that they would lose gem sales keeping it one per character.
I wouldn’t mind paying a bit extra to convert it to this any character item. As of now, i guess it would be okay and manageable with say two characters, but anywhere up of that it would become tedious, so you would leave it on one character, and maybe it wouldn’t see as much use. Kinda making not worth the original purchase.
I can see the huge downside for them, but i think some sort of compromise might be better.
i really want all theses items (unlimited gathering tools, royal passes, Salvage-O-Matic…) but i won’t buy any of them until we have something really convenient like this “account bag”. And i would certainly use real money for that, so instead of loosing sales they could gain some…
Edit: Xunlai Electrum Ingot would make a perfect material to craft this “account bag”

The bank in DR is a free WP away and it drops you off just outside it.
It bugs me that making a convenience item account bound instead of soul bound isn’t enough for some players. That the minor inconvenience of parking your characters at or near a bank to allow you to swap these items is considered a deal breaker.

With regards to the suggestion about not being booted on load. The Terrace and Airship boot you out for a good reason; not all passes are unlimited. There are 2 week passes, and single use passes too. If it didn’t boot you out, people could leave characters in there beyond the duration of the pass that they have.
It’s far less overhead from a technical point of view to make you log in again and thus proving that you have a valid pass, then it is to constantly check that every character in the zone has a valid pass in their inventory.
The alternative would be to add a check to any interactable or NPC in the zones that will boot a player out if they are in there with an expired pass. With this in place, you could still leave a character in there after expiry, but it would be totally pointless because they couldn’t do anything in there.
This wouldn’t help with swapping a pass between characters though, because you’d need to be able to interact with the bank or crafting stations to get the pass.

Near every bank you can find a merchant with gathering tools and salvage kits. If i had to park my characters at the bank/merchant, i could just buy limited ones, no need for unilimited ones, so yes that’s a deal breaker.
The advantage is not needing to buy tools and kits in the field.

Sorry i don’t see where the advantage is. By “in the field”, you mean on open world maps ? I don’t need to buy them on open world map, i buy them at the merchant near the bank, just like you take the unlimited tool at your bank. For me it’s same, so it’s not an advantage at all, especially not worth 1000 gems per tools (but as it is now i’m not sure i would buy it even at 100 gems per tools)
Regarding the whole “booting is there for players with expired or one-use passes” deal. With either scenario, isn’t that character basically unable to get back in once they leave? And I’m pretty sure you can’t play the entire game from within the Queen’s Terrace, the only thing you could maybe do is TP flipping, and crafting to empty collection so another character in the field would have more space to deposit into collection tab. Those are such minor things compared to the inconvenience that booting on load causes that I don’t see an issue with them.

Bold emphasis mine. The entire point of this 1000 gem item is solely to provide greater convenience to the player that purchases it. Account binding is nearly a requirement, as was shown with the gathering tools, because whether a player has one character or fifty, you want to give them value for their money spent. Any “minor inconveniences” such as being booted on load severely hamper whether players (or at least myself) consider a convenience item worth buying. I know that unless we get any info on if these issues are being fixed with the feature patch, or at least planned to, I won’t be purchasing the pass. If just the kick on load issue was fixed? It’d be an instant buy for me.
For me, the convenience is the pass itself, not that it is Account-bound. Saving load screens to get to the Terrace is great (and there is no loading screen to get back in after being booted, unlike the Airship), and everything in there is very close.
I could pass it around, but …well, I don’t. Lol. If I buy more ‘convenience’ items, they would probably be Unlimited Harvesting Tools for other characters, because carrying around lots of different ones is inconvenient to me, and running out of one, even more so. =)
