Ruby vs scholar
Depends on how often you can keep your HP above 90%. I believe it’s something like if you can keep your HP above 90% for 25% of the time then you’re better off with scholar.

Scholar runes will yield equal DPS if you can stay above 90% HP 25% of the time, and if you can stay above 90% for a longer period the DPS will increase more and more.

Runes of Strength are also a viable option if you can maintain at least 1 Might at all times. But yeah, Scholar synergizes well with Berserker gear since little HP typically means you spend more time fully healed.
You could also stick with ruby for now and wait to see how the whole balance thing rolls out next month.
Ranger Runes are a great alternative to scholar runes if you’re having trouble keeping above 90% health. The 6 effect applies constantly right now, but ANet has stated they will fix it with the next big balance update.

^^ This. Once the scaling for Ferocity is revealed, I’m sure someone will crunch the numbers.
I think the pro dungeon runners are mostly using scholar. The old time cof farmers mostly use ruby.
I would just wait for now. They said they going to rebalance the runes and sigil. I dont’ think the difference is big enough to invest for now unless you are certain scholar will be the bis.
Scholars for theorycrafters.
Rubys for real.
Scholars.
Rubies are terrible. If you can’t maintain 90% HP reliably you need to sit back and evaluate your performance.

For necros: Anyone know if you’re in DS, whether the 90% health applies to your real health or your DS health?
