OK, hopefully that grabbed your attention. I’m just not gonna let this go. I haven’t seen a dev response in any other threads. If I missed one, by all means, let me know.

So, transmutation stones are gone. That means all the sigils and runes in gear purchased with karma or WvW badges, or even the random karma gear that may have dropped for you, is stuck. Yes, you can use and upgrade extractor, but that costs about 25 G a pop, so that’s not really a solution. Before, it was possible to remove these using a convoluted transmutation process, but more importantly, if we wanted to change or upgrade gear, we could just use the transmutation stone. No big deal. Well, no more.

Here’s just one, real world example: My 2H weapons now holds 2 sigils. I’d like to take the bloodlust sigil from one and put it in the other. Nope, can’t do that. No salvage kit will salvage WvW or Karma gear. I have 6 characters I regularly play with 2-3 sets of armor and multiple weapon sets, many of which are sigil stacking. Almost all my gear has been purchased with WvW badges or karma.

I’m not alone. There are many in my same predicament.

And what about the future? What about the newer players, or the unaware players? Is there a big red warning box that says, “Don’t put any runes or sigils in this gear if you ever want to get them back?” No.

So to save us all the hassle, either make a way for us to salvage WvW and Karma gear or just take it out of the game completely.

The topic title is misleading yes. And yes, they should allow runes and sigils to be extracted from WvW and karma gear more easily.

Welcome to the ‘ArenaNet screwed me of random high ammount of gold and won’t do anything to fix it’ club.
This is the life of second-class GW2 citizens aka the wvw-ers. You spend weeks getting gold for a set of expensive sigils and runes only to see them being useless if you plan to upgrade to ascended armour or different stats build.
The solution is so incredibly easy as to make WvW salvaged gear only return the Rune / Sigil if there was one and nothing else. Hell even make it account bound and requires a BL Salvage kit, couldn’t care less just offer this option.

I don’t see why we can’t just salvage them. Is it really that big of a deal for players to turn 42,000 karma into 0-3 ectos? Are Melandru runes so precious they are worth more than 42,000 karma?

What is this restriction protecting? I was buying exotics off of the TP a while ago for cheaper than the gold price + badges from the merchant in WvW. You get dungeon weapons from a handful of matches in sPvP. The restriction may make sense for low level gear, but level 80 exotics should all be salvageable.

I think their goal is to control the supply of ecto/gold. I think the best solution would be to salvage karma armor back into … you guessed it KARMA. ^^

badge of honor armor could be salvaged back into badges of honor.

The thing is that @42k karma a pop, averaging even an above average 2 ectos per salvage, you’re looking at 70s to 42k karma – 1.6 silver to 1,000 karma.

I did 750k worth of Orian boxes and got out 12.5g – so Orian boxes give almost exactly that same rate.

If they were really worried about karma to gold, they would make karma items not mystic-forge-able. Salvaging for Linen Scraps gives about 5 silver / 1000 karma (and the cost of a new mouse every now and again from all the clicking) – 3 or 4 times higher than being able to salvage the level 80 gear.

Well, got on my warrior, cause it’s needed, and my bloodlust sigil is in… A WvW weapon. They are selling now for between 9-13 G. Not buying another one. Please give me a way to get my bloodlust sigils, amongst other things, out of my stuff. I’ve really getting angry now. It’s been almost 2 weeks with no response on this issue.
