Well, since there will be some changes on the the legendaries crafting (craftable precursors) that MAY let players get their legendaries easier, I had an idea that could include some challenge on the journey towards the legendary weapon: “instanced recipes”.

The ideia is basicly spread the lengendary recipes all around playable Tyria in form of books and, most important, spread them at different locations for each account. How random it would be can be discussed, but i think it could work as totaly random as well. To the point that has no way someone could just rush to all spot locations until find theirs. The location could be someway related to some path for some location, but not in an exact point.

I know that “instanced recipes” is not the right way to name it, but “instanced loot” isn’t either and people still use it, and the concept is kind of similar.

I’m not a dev to know how hard is this to be included in the current map/instance mechanics. Just thought it could be a very challenging (and not grinding) way to complement the legendary crafting.

Ideias, “why not” reasons, toxic comments? feel free to post them.

The ability to craft my legendary based on RNG placed recipe? No thanks.

I’m glad they’re moving to a hopefully less RNG based system with the precursor collections. They do not need to go and add in another RNG based item to the process.

RNG would be the spawn location of the recipes, not your chances to get them. Not to mention that i didn’t established how randomly it would be, what i belive that makes the whole difference.

Yea, spawn location in a random spot on the map is RNG. I do not want to have to go run around the entire map of Tyria to find a recipe to make my legendary.

Can anyone give me a link to where Anet talked about the Legendary crafting changes that are supposedly coming up?

The big difference is that in RNG loot you can’t eliminate targets, it’s always the same random possibility, in this system you can. And about run around Tyria exploring places, yep, that’s the ideia.

I’ve already done that. Not going to be all that fun to do it again just to find some remote hiding spots and hope its the one I need.

I dont expect that to be “all that fun”, if it is better than grinding for crafting components (as it will become) I think worth think about.

Still no.

If they change the process of getting a legendary, it should be you take on a quest that requires skill to do. So that the legendary received is actually legendary.

Not some go around the map and look for a book to give you a recipe that can be easily completed in a day once you get the recipe.

And still no to it being RNG based.

I can’t see how they would be able to do this through an extremely hard quest or dungeon. Anet will never be able to balance all professions to the point it gets fair for everyone.

And perhaps the hide and seek of recipes doesn’t remove the grinding for components, but mitigate it.

You’re not getting my reason for saying no.

I can grind gold or farm or whatever to get a majority of the components needed for a legendary. I am not forced to do certain things for a majority of the components.

I do not want to be forced to play hide and seek with the recipe to create the legendary. Legendary weapons do not need anymore RNG components.

Why do you think the crowd at PAX south CHEERED when precursor collections were announced? Because it will likely get rid of the most RNG gated aspect of the legendary. So your suggestion is: hey, now that we have one major RNG aspect gone, let’s add another one!

It could be a ticket to turn in to get a legendary and I still wouldn’t like it. Even if I wanted legendaries to be super easy to get. Which I don’t.
