This has BOUND to have cropped up before, but I can’t at least see anything new about it but after some recent discussions about genuine people wanting to sell a legendary (JUST for example) to a friend, or even something small like a tiny totem, it is not at the moment possible to ensure a fair trade; one whereby the seller gets their gold and the buyer gets their item.
Why can’t we have something similar to Guild Wars 1, where we could set up a mutual trade between friends. Each person must agree to the traded items for it to go through ensuring no fiddling or scamming.
Surely this would perhaps also reduce the amount of scamming out there because there is a fair way to do this other than the TP where it is sold/bought randomly.
I am sure there must be a reason for this not to be a fixture, and if there is I’d love to know the reasons behind it. Similarly, if it can be done… will it?
I could bring up and copy paste a lot of links but I’ll give an image instead. The very short answer is it adds scamming and removes an economy-controlling gold sink.
Because of problems with scamming that have been in every game that has person to person trading, they don’t want to put in this system. Not only is the trading post scam proof but it performs a necessary action as a gold sink that is vital to the game’s ability to control inflation. Keeping down scamming also cuts the amount of money they have to pay support to handle scamming incidents. It also reduces the number of accounts that have to be banned for scamming. It’s not possible to make a scam proof system and they have no plans to try.
Ahh, okay, point made and I fully understand.
