Please tell me this is a belated april 1st joke?
not only will people stain the sky with SAB gliders.. but now also with sounds that are inaudibly different from a cat regurgitating a hairball..
please.. please tell me this is a bad joke..
this has got to be the worst glider in the history of anet..
I have loved, bought, and praised so many gliders, but I just have to voice me disdain here..
I would not be able to stand the sound of this glider AT ALL.. it sounds like a sick animal I have to put out of it’s misery.. sorry, I wished I could word it nicer, but I simply can’t, it’s that bad..

Give it a few weeks. Amaimon. Remember when ANet first added white wings or black wings or, well, any sort of wings? The cities were clouded for asura, with the high density of feathers obscuring the view from 3’ and change (or 1m+ for those no longer living in the 19th century).

Then, a few weeks after, the novelty wore off and people were back to hiding backpacks.

Even huge fans of SAB will tired of Super gliders. They won’t be absent, but I suspect they will be tolerable, even for those of us who don’t enjoy the sound of a cat regurgitating a hairball.

Hasn’t the glider been around since last SAB? Can’t recall any complaints issues that time around?

Also, just listened to it…not hearing a sound as bad as to compare to wanting to “put a sick animal out of its misery”. Think your simile’s might be out of whack there.

Hmm, I went back and listened to the Copter Glider (I’m guessing that is the one you are referring to?), and I don’t hear any cat sounds. Just sounds like SAB (stuff).

Maybe you meant one of the other SAB Gliders? I’m not sure. (Again, I’ve never thought of cats with those Gliders, either.) /shrug

I don’t know anything in life that makes such a horribly disgusting sound, so I just said something randomly to convene my feelings of it..

Not sure about the comparisons to dying animals / barfing cats, but I definitely don’t much care for the sounds the Super Copter makes. Its just a jumble of random sound effects that are generally unpleasing as well as sounding nothing like a helicopter. Sounds more like bubbling pool of acid or something… with farting noises thrown in for good measure. I was seriously considering buying it based solely on the backpack preview, but now that I’ve heard what it actually sounds like… yeah, going to pass on that. Second glider skin I’ve liked visually but passed on because of the sound effects (the other being the snowflake glider which reuses the “whispering” of one of the ghostly gliders for some reason).

Should really apply it to “player instrument sounds”.

It looks kinda cool though….. I sorta want it now.

That is actually a really good idea, although you might not hear your own “normal” gliders then. So maybe a checkbox “mute other gliders” ?

The super holocopter and super cloud gliders are awesome!

The addition of a “noisy glider” is ironic considering the still popular post about changing/reducing other item’s sound (ie, a certain bow).

The problem isn’t that it that it makes sound but it is the specific sound it makes, which is very close to underwater farting. If they fix the sound I would be fine with this glider, really. But right now this on the top of the list, next to the Dreamer to be cast in oblivion.

Doesn’t have to be that specific. There could be a sound control for “other players” where non-essential sounds could be controlled.

As for sounds coming from yourself, I wonder if “mute player chatter” could be expanded on.

As for this glider: it’s pretty awful, I was looking forward to it but it’s pretty obnoxious. Things like this and the dreamer are the reason I play without sound most of the time. I’d like to see them add two sliders, the first one would be other player’s chatter frequency, the second other player’s chatter volume. The first would control how often that glider farts or horse bow whinnies, the second how loud it is.

Either that or extract the sound files somewhere so we can replace them with silence.

yea, I don’t like SAB, but thats not the issue here right now, the glider could really be of any kind, the sound is the problem here. I have someone in the guild who bought it on looks, and is now asking a refund because he can’t stand the sounds either. But it’s not the only obnoxious item, there are also the SAB minis, and some legendary weapons like The Dreamer whose sounds are nothing short of a cringe that’s been echoing from the Realm of Torment for far too long..

I wouldn’t be against more sound controlling options. The more options the merrier.
