I know there are a fair amount of people who have already made a character of every class. Maybe I’m just a masochist, but is anyone else a bit bummed to be grandfathered into having all of your traits (except the new ones)? I would kind of rather get to try out exploring/ earning them on the new system without having to delete any of my beloved characters.

But then you wont spend money to get gems so you can add more character slots.

Personally, I wouldn’t want to lose traits just so I can “experience” earning them again. If they could somehow work it as an option, to let people choose to either start at nothing and earn them all or keep them, then that’d be fine. But if they can’t, then I think they made the right choice in letting everyone with an existing character have access to all of them from the get-go.

If you really want to pretend like you’re earing them, then limit yourself. Remove all your traits when the patch hits, look up the requirements for earning them, and go and earn them before you let yourself use them again.

I think that it is intended for new players. I wouldnt be bummed out to have to go to places that I have already been countless times, or am I missing something here.

Well I think they would get more angry people if they did take away all traits and make us earn them anew. Not everyone want to earn something they already got.

Either do like Electro said or hope that one day we will get new race and/or class that you can get the experience on. I certainly do.. well for race anyway… being one that decided on 1 character per race and not class I lack 3 classes, because I don’t want multiples of any race. But thats besides the point and just my opinion.

Hah, I guess I forgot to mention I only wanted the option to go earn all my traits. They definitely would have had angry players beating down the door if the just took them away. Either way, based on this very unscientific sample, I guess I can see why they didn’t bother to add the option.

I have a level 80 of every profession and most of them did not even earn their levels. Got them all to level 20 using exp scrolls, spammed dungeons on a level 80 and switched to a lowbie at the end to get the dungeon reward xp to level my alts. I leveled my Engineer from level 34 to 80 by buying those scrolls that increase your level by 1 from the PvP vendors.

You can always pretend you’re unlocking them and go around the various content you need to complete to unlock them!

I’m wondering if one unlock will be completing Obsidian Sanctum jumping puzzle. They said in the livestream that some traits would be unlocked by WvW. Prepare your butts! We all know how much they love making players jump through OS.

I suppose I can relate to this… it’d be interesting if achievements were tied to the acquisition of each trait and although we’re grandfathered into the traits we could still go and complete the achievements if we chose to… I’d greatly appreciate that.

Agreed. I mean, if you really want to delete all your level 80’s that you already have geared so that you can go and re-level, buy all that gear again and all you are doing is going to beat the Risen High Wizard for the 50th time…

Why not just go and accomplish the things for the traits? If you did the task, you earned the trait.

Also, if you have all your characters at level 80, you have the gold to buy the character slots instead of using real money to buy gems. It’s the genius of ArenaNet’s implementation. It’s good for them and good for players.
