Q:
Safe Place To Complain
A:
OP Fan sites are the only places you can complain about a game and people generally do recieve you well most of the time. MMO forums on many sites will let you do just that on posts about titles and company practices both bad and good.
You can both complain and express your unhappiness on these forums, providing that you follow the forum rules and do so in a constructive manner. As a bonus tip, avoiding hyperbole and massive exaggeration will also help keep your threads alive.
If you have played a lot of MMO games, then surely you know that fansites are ‘safe’
That being said, if you’re so willing to blindly criticize Arenanet in an offending manner then you deserve to be ‘silenced’. Or what I call ‘Shamed’

I like the idea that if you need to pay a compliment, tell it to everyone. If you need to offer criticism, tell only the person involved.
In this case, email your complaints direct to Arena Net. They are the ones with the power for change and so are the ones that need to hear it. They will use your feedback, the collective feedback, and their research as they see fit.
Use the forums for construction of ideas and generative, positive discussion.
Hi Nalyric,
The forums are the correct place to express your opinions about the game, provided that you do it without breaking the rules. It is very easy to get yourself carried by your frustration and end up making a bad post even if you had good intentions.
Just follow those simple rules and its all safe.
Welcome to the forums and hope this has been of help.

What about it ; if we tell the truth about your marketing strategies then we just get locked and deleted because we post for the “sake of complaining”.
We can’t complain and respect your rules when your rules are about not complaining.
And no we can’t make feedback without “expressing frustrations”.

Hi everyone,
Keiran, as stated you can complain and give feedback as long as you don’t break the rules. When we say “for the sake of complaining” it means posts or threads that do not have any kind of constructive discussion. Saying “X class is OP nerf please has killed me in 3 hits” (just to make an example, something very common in most MMOs) is, in our view, FAR from constructive. You think a class is overpowered? Gather data, give it to us,present evidence.
Same goes for everything, the key is being helpful and constructive. You can be frustrated but still make a meaningful thread that we, as moderators, can forward to the team.
And also, I would like to remind you that contesting the actions of a moderator is forbidden. If you think a moderator has done something wrong, please write to forums@arena.net
Thanks for your understanding.

constructive discussion.
A very important but often overlooked part of every conversation, complaint or suggestion.
It’s important to remember that there are ways to express yourself directly to ANet, for customer service and for complaints about the forums and forum moderation.
Posting on the forums, however, is a place for community discussion and will invite commentary by all sorts of people. Keep in mind that most issues have already been discussed and argued at length. This means that there are people who already have fairly entrenched opinions. There are also issues that are brought up repeatedly in “new” posts. (We’re on our third Trinity discussion in the past 7 days, I think.) So, if you’re not careful, you’re likely to push some folks buttons.
Also know that there are certain subjects that are against the CoC to discuss. Qualities of the game are certainly available for complaint, and you will see many complaints on those. However, actions of ANet community and support staff are not allowed as forums posts. This is because even when community or support takes correct actions, those acted against are still likely to come on the forums and cause a stir. However, all of those actions also have an internal appeals process that does not revolve around posting on the public forums.

Another thing to note is that right now on the forums there are a number of people who are dedicated to trying to cause trouble, despite knowing clearly what the rules are and how to proceed in a situation. They are essentially trying cause a community uproar by pushing the limits of the rules, or deliberately breaking the rules, and then playing martyr.

I was just infracted for an harmless post saying that this forum is NOT a free place to complain because of moderation.
Infracted for “contesting the actions of a moderator”.There’s your answer.
That’s because it’s against the rules to discuss moderation, or bringing up your own infractions :P
Hi everyone,
To prevent further attempts at derailing this thread or provoking the moderator team we are closing it.
Thanks for your understanding.
