It blues out everything when you click the kit initially just enough to obscure the rarity indication, but then disables itself once you salvage the first item.
Maybe if there was a small icon in the lower corner of each item that indicated salvagablility that stuck around and didn’t cover up the rarity highlight it would be more useful. Or maybe if it darkened the items that aren’t salvageable.
