Now that we can salvage luck from items, the big question is “what to salvage and what to sell?”

What are your thoughts?

I used to salvage whites and blues, then sell greens, mainly because of the annoying confirmation window. now I salvage all 3 tiers. Mainly because I really don’t have much use for gold. I get enough gold doing world bosses(selling rares) and dungeons for me to get by.

For newer players, gold maybe harder to come by, in that situation, I would suggest selling the blue/greens first to get some money for pieces of his first exotic set.

We all do as we must to make our way in this world and unfortunately,
we have to do things others may qualify as “evil”.

If someone offers enough, I’ll sell it. I have my own price measurement that I go by.

If enough stuff starts to meet my min amounts, I’ll re-adjust. As it is, there are still quite a bit of stuff that people try to buy but don’t offer something worth my time. I’m not going to sell something that is only 1c over what I can get from the vendor. I’ll let the TP flippers go work for something if they are going be insulting like that. I know they make more money, they can cut me into the profit better than that.

I don’t know if the item salvaged determines the type or quality of luck you get.

I speak for my self and no one else. Only fools believe they speak for a majority.

I still salvage whites blues and sell greens. Greens have a higher vendor value so the mat is not likely going to be worth what I would loose on vendor it.

How about a couple of examples.

Green that vendors for 2sp
Blue that TP’s for 1.5sp.

Salvage for luck or sell? You make the call.

Blue’s give less luck on average than green (by a sizable amount) (I still don’t know if level requirement on the gear makes a difference or not). There have already been a couple of threads where people have said approximately how much luck they’ve gotten from fine and how much from masterwork. Ectos still give the largest amount of luck right now, but their prices are still skyrocketing because everyone needs them to craft to 500.

blue salvage for 11 luck + ~50c or TP for ~1s
green salvage for 30 luck + ~50c or TP for ~3s
ecto salvage for 100 luck + 1.8 dust – 61c (MSK) or TP for 32s
your choice.
luck seems to be worth about 5c each. 4.2 million needed to get to 300% mf = 2,100g

Hey I would like to contribute my research with salvaging ectos for luck.
This was an experiment to get an idea of how many ectos it would take to get to 300% MF. How much gold it would cost from TP, etc.
“Salvage o-Matic”
Bought 250 ecto @ 74 gold
-Luck produced: 26490
-Crystalline dust produced: 440x
Sellback price on dust: 63.06g
Gold lost: 11g
“Mystic Salvage Kit”
Bought 250 ecto @ 74 gold
-Luck produced: 26150
-Crystalline dust produced: 427x
-gold lost about 10.5~11g.
Drop rates are assumed to be the same for mystic
and copper-fed salvage-o-matic.
If these numbers would remain consistent :
You would have to do this 1585x for 42m luck (300%mf)
42000000 / 26490 = 1585
and would lose…
1582 × 11g = 17435g In the process.
