I just returned to this game after an 8 month hiatus and I want to delete a character I have a duplicate class of. This character has some runes that are fairly valuable, that I bought and put into her set of armor replacing the karma armor runes. However it seems there has been no further push to have any means to remove player-purchased runes from karma armor? Perhaps I am overlooking something that has been added in my absence, but I can not find anything.

The transmutation splitter is the only way to get runes off of Karma and WVWVW armor now… There is currently no rune worth the price of the splitter though..

there is no more transmutation splitter. if you still have them, they will be converted to transmutation charges…

There is an Upgrade Extractor which should be able to remove things like Runes and Sigils.

The cost in gems for the Upgrade Extractor makes it uneconomical to salvage anything except for Infusions worth hundreds of gold though.

Pretty much. Personally, I don’t see why Anet doesn’t allow you to salvage Karma Armor and just give you the upgrades and some ruined ore/ruined leather/ruined cloth. Just vendor trash.

Yeah, I don’t understand either. It would be a nice karma sink, and also help ease prices a little on stuff like cloth and (some types) of leather, which are more difficult to farm.

Stuff like the Order gear and WvW Badges gear should be salvageable too. Those items cost more in gold than you’d get back in salvages over time; buying them purely to salvage would be a losing proposition.

I specifically avoid armor bought with Karma or Badges – I have 3 characters with Traveler runes, 1 with Strength runes, 3 more sets of Scholar and now a set with Perplexity and there is no way I’m getting locked into Karma armor.

Just spend the extra gold and buy/make exotic

You can throw karma items into the mystic forge. You will get back one item that is salvageable in exchange for the four put in. Doing this is one way to use karma and get armor that can be salvaged into mats.

It’s possible OP can put his armor in the forge and get something he can salvage. It’s not much, but it’s better than deleting it.

It’s possible OP can put his armor in the forge and get something he can salvage. It’s not much, but it’s better than deleting it.
