I have to say though, as much as it can be really frustrating when you’re trying to achieve long-term goals it does have it’s upsides.

The graphics are excellent (although as a few people have noted it depends on your hardware) and the zones are huge and incredibly detailed. I’ve spent quite a bit of time exploring them and I still feel like I’ve not seen much of it.

Of course this is when the lack of fast travel and the gold cost for everything gets really frustrating. Even if I’ve been to a place before I can’t teleport back there, I have to repeat the whole journey first. And of course you need to make sure you’ve got food and other supplies to avoid the debuffs and somewhere to sleep (or equipment to set up a ‘camp site’ so sleeping outside is safe).

But once you get used to it getting all that set up isn’t too bad and it really is worth it. I thought I took a lot of screenshots of the scenery in GW2, but I’ve got far, far more from Outside and some include crazy things you’d never believe the devs could have thought up.

Also, for those of you who mentioned the urban jumping puzzles you might like to try some of the ones out in the wilderness. Some of them are crazy-long and really confusing, but some great achievements if you manage it (although not much in the way of actual loot, it’s mainly novelty trophies that you can use to decorate your home instance). Just make sure you avoid falling, the damage is brutal!

My personal Experience in Outside.

Low Levels were kinda fun. I really liked 3-5, that was great, Although the loot wasn’t very good.

Starting at level 5 I was sent to this place with all the other Low Levels. PvP was discouraged. I also found the lack of loot very annoying. The only way to reliably get anything was to beg older players, who seemed to have their own loot problems.

When I hit Level 18 I finally got out into the real Game. That took ages.

I joined one of the Biggest Guilds in the Game. They called in the US [ARMY] they were spamming map chat with out great they were and how much fun I would have. They advertised as PvP oriented, and promised me easy access to weapon, and free profession training. It seemed like a no-brainer. Their recruiter guy was awesome, I really liked him, until I signed up.

Their recruitment guy lied! What Kind of Game lets people make a guild you can’t leave? I mean maybe I made a mistake, I should have joined one of those other guilds, they looked to be a lot nicer to their players? How do these guys keep player retention in their guild? My guild also tended to frown on guildmates pvping against each other, unless it was part of “training”

My guild also expected me to dress like every other person in my guild. It was required! What about character customization? What is the point of having all these hairstyles and clothing options if I have to get my haircut and dress like everyone else? And the developers won’t do anything about it? Kinda wrong if you asked me.

Anyway, I got sent to another training place even worse than before. Despite being Level 19 at this point they kept treating me like I was level 2, and they worked us to death. Sure they had weapons but we never got to use them. They just made us pack them everywhere. This is when I discovered that there is an endurance limit in game. My guild believed that if they worked us hard enough we could break that limit, (Hacks!) so that meant more gear to pack around. Ugh.

Thankfully the training phase passed quicky, ten weeks and I had to go to another training area where they taught me my profession. Or they taught me part of it, I soon realized that I would never learn it all and would have to keep learning more if I ever wanted to get anywhere.

Thankfully my guild kinda relaxed at this point and let me start having a little freedom again. This was when I discovered that my guild wanted me to spend a lot more time sitting around waiting on things then actually doing them.

Since then my guild has actually been alot more fun. Someone up top must do a lot of farming or playing of the trading post because I get free gold every couple of weeks. It isn’t enough to buy much, but my guild pays for my food and my home instance so I can’t complain too much.

We also get taxied to all the cool maps. Although there isn’t as much PvP as I had been lead to believe. Mostly we just set around alot. Maybe I chose the wrong profession when I was talking with that Scrub of a recruiter.

Now my guild is telling me I have to be a scrub recruiter.

soo uhh.

Yeah….forget the bad things I just said, I was kidding..really!

Super large Friendly PVP Oriented guild! With massive PVE and WVW presence, never go on a mission alone! Looking for New members between level 18 and 30! Have many guildhalls! Profession training! P.S We get to blow stuff up!

Trying so hard not to rofl at work.

Thanks for the laugh (and for your service! o7)

Finally a game were the Oceanic population doesn’t complain about severe lag though. However, it seems PvE there is absurdly difficult, every mob is trying to kill you and they oneshot you like you’re paper. Poison also seems incredibly imbalanced, and condition removal is really sparse… Also, don’t even try underwater combat, it’s like the devs don’t even care about balance there. I definately recommend changing to a European or NA server for the lower levels and go back to the Australian maps if you have max gear and want to try hard mode.

Can we talk about inventory management? I’m getting a new home instance (on the same map, at least!) in a few months and it really brings out all the flaws in this system. First of all, everything has to go in a box, and even the Basic Cardboard Boxes cost way more gold than they should, it really adds up.

And they hold way fewer items than they should, because the Weight attribute, which you don’t usually think about, adds up inside the boxes – allegedly the Weight of all the items is just added together but I have my doubts. And if the Weight of the box gets outside your character’s Strength range, you can’t even move it. Although you can pay gold to have characters who’ve leveled their Strength really high come and help you.

Which you’re going to probably have to end up doing anyway, because apparently the devs haven’t included Boxes large enough for furniture type items, and even if they did, even pretty small furniture items seem to have ridiculous Weights (please nerf!). This is aside from the fact that only special mounts (“truck” type) can move a lot of this stuff, so if you don’t have someone in your guild who has one of those, you will probably have to pay gold to another guild to borrow one (I have had good experiences with [UHAUL]).

By the way, did you know that sometimes you actually have to partially un-craft some of your items before you can move them, and then re-craft them at the new location? I am not looking forward to that. All this is, of course, on top of the way that you have to select every single item, no matter how small, or it won’t move to the new location – how is there no bulk selection? Can’t the game just assume that I still want all my items?? Then at the new location you have to do the entire process in reverse. I feel like I’m going to spend several weeks doing nothing but inventory management!

On top of everything else, did you realize that every item has a hidden Fragile stat? It determines the percentage likelihood that the object will be damaged or destroyed if you move it to a new location. Why even bother to program that in? It just seems mean, especially since players don’t always have a choice about having to change home instances – why couldn’t Outside have made this a minigame, or at least something less exhausting

Ok, there’s something going on in this game that I’m really not happy with, and what’s worse is the GMs seem to be aware of it and to have turned a blind eye.

I’ve not seen this happen in game myself, but I was watching a stream last night, and saw some blatant cheating. One of the players is clearly hacking the game and getting away with it. I’ve done a bit of research, and the player in question seems pretty famous and has been getting away with it for years, despite making no effort to hide his blatant cheating. It’s going to get worse, too – at the moment he’s doing this on his own, but I’ve heard rumours that he’s looking to form a guild of like-minded players later this month.

Anyway, as for his cheating, he’s not exactly been subtle. I’ve been playing this game long enough to know there are no skills that let you fly, or shoot lasers from your eyes, or ignore almost all sources of damage. He’s also managed to attach a second character to his account, which I’m pretty sure is against the terms and conditions we’ve all had to sign up to, but perhaps explains how he’s been able to get away with this for so long.

And then there’s his fashion sense. I know it’s not a reportable offence, but really in his case it should be. I mean who would want to go around wearing a cape?

More information about my experiences in game

The wardrobe system sux because there isn’t one. You have to carry all the extra armor in your inventory and the only way to change the look of your armor is to put on new armor. However you can mix and match between armor weights, so that’s a plus.

So, I was walking down a street and I saw a bunch of armor hanging from a line tied to two poles. My armor had been damaged from the PvP and dueling I’d been doing with the other low levels chars and needed an upgrade. I hopped over the fence and start removing the armors from the line and trying out different looks. I had all the armor off the lines, tried them on and had picked out a couple of nice looks when a player character came out of the nearby home instance and said.

“KITTEN KITTEN KITTEN YOU KITTEN! WHAT KITTEN ARE KITTEN YOU KITTEN KITTEN KITTEN DOING KITTEN YOU KITTEN KITTEN KITTEN!”

O.o

Well, anyway. This char tried to steal the armor from me. The only weapon I had was a low level one called a Rock (and those things are lame. It’s a projectile weapon but it’s one use only, unless you run over to where it landed and pick it up again). So I used my Rock to PvP against him and he said

IM GOING TO KITTEN KITTEN KITTEN KITTEN CALL THE POLICE ON YOU YOU LITTLE KITTEN KITTEN KITTEN!

Typical. PvP people are so salty when they lose a fight.

I picked up my new armor and left. Later I filed a complaint with support about him. Predictably they took his side and said blahblahblahblahblah.

/snore. I should have figured. Support in this game is bogus. They also sent me another Restraining Order (which I ignored).

Ah, there they are: The person who says "You think you can quit “Outside” but we know you’ll be back."

The challenge I see for Oceanic players is your region has some miiighty unusual mobs! I mean bouncy things with pouches! Dogs in mean-dog disguises! Who knows what skills to use on them?

I have to admit, I like those small tree-bound mobs, and I’m glad they’re ambient creatures. I vote that no one takes out those adorable Ko’alaa Furry Beasts or Kee’Weee Longbeaks!

The bouncy thingies with pouches seem to be very ferocious melee fighters, so I’d opt for ranged combat or heavy use of blinds and blocks.

I have also heard of tiny spider mobs that hide in your armor (especially in your striders/war boots) and badly poison you if you try to equip said gear. Very nasty.

Guys. Guys. This game…
How in the name of anything that is holy can someone design mechanics so wicked? Why? What for!!!?

Just this morning I was happily leveling my cooking craft line, laboriously transforming “Onions” into multiple “Onion Slice” with one of these simple weapons you can put in the shelves of your home instance and use as tools sometimes. The process is very unfriendly, because the “Onions” apply multiple stacks of blind on you, but I wanted really bad the “Cooking Husband” title so I kept going.

Then I glitched and instead of another “Onion Slice” I obtained “Small Player Piece”. At first I was perplexed. What in the world is a “Small Player Piece” (It was really gross, by the way)?. Then I noticed a bunch of red dye everywhere, and that I had a pulsing “Pain” condition, and also several stacks of “Bleed”. And my hand model had the most strange clipping artifact, like it was transparent in the end. The “Small Player Piece” was my own!

I was convinced there was an stealthed mob in the instance, because just the prior dark cycle I had a terrifying fight with a fast venomous Spider in the bathroom instance close by, but no matter how much I revised the place I couldn’t find anything.

In the end, after losing more than 3 hours and a gigantic amount of gold to get the “Small Player Piece” attached to my hand again, I calmed down enough to think about the events, and close the eyes to revise the combat log.

Then I found it.
- Ardid.2612 hits Ardid.2612 with “Knife Slash”

W
T
F

I thought it was a bug at first, and did some research to find what was being done to solve it, but the mods always said simply “Working as intended”. Then I understood it was part of the basic mechanics!

WHY!? How can the devs be so evil that they include an option where you can attack yourself? THE GAME IS PVP EVEN WHEN YOU ARE ALONE!!!!

I tell you guys. Outside is pure evil. Like a Troll-Game, or something like that.
Watch yourselves and good luck.

Pax is right, one key to doing well in the Outside game is to link accounts. It’s not an exploit, it’s a core part of the rules as you can see from its effect on the cash shop and gold sink reductions. I’ve been playing five decades and generally have not had issues with gold flow, especially once I linked up with this other player almost 24 years ago.

I still prefer GW2 as a game, however, for several reasons that lead me to give Outside very mixed reviews. One is the massive RNG in Outside, the gem store has nothing on it. While I got fairly lucky in my starting rolls, and was one of the accounts attached to already successful ones, as a confirmed altoholic I really resent being stuck with a random starting character. It turns out the low rez impressionistic graphics Outside offers are due to a random disadvantage placed on my account and I have to shell out gold for a mod called “lenses” that degrade over time if I want to get a good view distance and not run my mount into walls.

Speaking of degrading over time, egad the maintenance fees. Anyone who followed my posts in the Guild Halls CDI knows my stance on maintenance fees to preserve game progress. Outside has gone hog wild with these. You can’t just walk away and come back a few months later to the same home instance and character stats. You have to keep logging in and leveling or it’s all gone. I worked very hard to unlock an elite profession, then maintained it for 19 years of play until the amount of keyboard dancing it took wore me out. You’d think that amount of dedication would do me some good in the cash shop now, but nooooo. I don’t get the discounts for another 12 years!

But no matter how much you work at it and keep leveling your profession there is built in character decay. Mine used to be able to do all the dance emotes, lots of crafting, and reach a lot of areas of the game world. Now she moves stiffly, her crafted artworks look first level, and she’s flat out shut down with days-long cripple conditions the last few times I tried to move her out of her local quest area. You’d think you could buy mods to fix that, right? But back when I wanted to buy the LASIK mod that a lot of players were praising, for a longer term fix for that lens mod issue mentioned above, the mod writers said it was only tailored to certain hardware and my Outside was installed on the wrong setup. Then the Outside devs said you only get one install and if you try to go to new hardware your account is permanently banned.

OP, you’ve had some issues finding guilds, but you need to try. Outside is a team effort game. Once you link up then each member can go to the parts of Outside play they prefer and then pool the resources. Just try to avoid a PvP guild even though you seem to like the PvP areas of play; a lot of them are scammers who need fodder for opposing gankers. You mentioned endgame, but like GW2, Outside is meant for the journey, not the end. I’m in no rush to reach endgame — I think that while it might be on the table, most likely the devs haven’t actually implemented any maps there and that’s why we have no reliable datamines and no one who hits max level ever reports back to give spoilers or fill out the wiki.

Bad day. Really bad.

They made me change my char name, and then called The Police on me!

Kitten kitten kitten this!

Ok, what happened was I was attending the NPE classes. It had just started and while the teacher did roll call (/snore) I was leveling my Crafting by using my knife to inscribe decorative carvings onto the table top, so I was only half listening. Suddenly the teacher comes over to where I was, grabs the knife out of my hands and threatens to suspend me (seriously? for what?). So she was saying blahblahblahblahblah[Name]blahblahblah and I said, [Name]? That’s not my name. My name is Xx I Wanna Kill U Xx. And she says IT IS [Name] and shows where it’s on the roll call list.

What. The. Freak.

So, we discussed it and the discussion might have gotten a little out of hand with a couple of broken windows, some language and a small fire but I was upset. It turns out that when I first started the game I was automatically assigned by the game to this small guild with 2 higher level chars that wanted to grow their guild. According to the game rules, when 2 higher level chars get new guildies this way they have the right to name the new char.

That’s right. Let me repeat this stupid rule. When you start this game, 2 total strangers you’ve never met before get to name you and you’re assigned to their guild with no option to leave it. At best after you’ve gotten to higher levels you’re allowed to start a new guild with one other person and repeat this nonsense on other new players.

So, after the discussion they called The Police and The Police took me to my Home Instance where my Guild Leaders were waiting.

I was tuning them out by that time because this whole thing is so bogus, but I could hear The Police talking to my Guild Leaders saying blahblahblah Theft blahblahblah Restraining Orders blahblahblah Property Damage blahblahblah Fire blahblahblah Fighting blahblahblah killing mobs blahblahblah Little Psychopath

Seriously? What is their problem? I was playing the game. I wandered around exploring, killing mobs, harvesting nodes, getting geared up, PvPing and dueling other chars of my level, and breaking interactable quest items. All of these things are a normal, expected part of the game and they were making me sound like some sort of junior criminal.

After The Police left, the male Guild Leader PvPd my butt and I got sent to my room in my home instance with a hunger debuff. Which is bogus. I contacted Support and filed a complaint against everyone but of course it wasn’t any use. They also sent me a Restraining Order from the Teacher (which I ignored).

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

This game sucks. I once forgot to pay 40 gold to keep my cellphone item working a few years back AND THE DEVS TURNED IT OFF. Then I had to go to one of the dev gamestores just to turn it back on and they had the nerve to charge me an extra 18 gold.

I was using this TV item I bought (it still costs me gold every month to use, smh) to find out some people get to level 18 and get millions of gold given to them by their mentor account holders, it’s not fair. I think I’m gonna invest some gold into this minigame called Powerball. If I win, I’ll get millions of gold and might be able to win Outside!

There is lots of expansions, just most are way to costly, or not worth the time.

There is this one called prison, I think you go there for excessive PVP. Also apparently using to many potions that alter your toon will get yo here too. This one may not have a gold cost, but it will haunt your game experience permanently.

There is another one called University, though you never will have money again, apparently after this one you owe more gold than you could ever hope to farm. They promise to teach you all these skills, but you still end up with level 0 skills, and normally they are old skills that everyone else has mastered so long ago, they are no longer very viable.

There is a job expansion, but the content was so repetitive, I don’t play that one any more. It takes way to long to level up in this one, and some one else mentioned the trouble of skills needing to be above 0 to start. The devs were outta their mind on this one.

There is another one called marriage, but this one has far to many leeches. They just want to own half your stuff and create parasitic micro accounts that feeds on the already non existent gold until the 18 year debuff is gone and you can kick them from the home instance. This one really encourages you to get that horrible job xpac.

I’m sure there are many more, some hidden, some more to come.... just remember avoid the xpac’s, they all seem to just funnel money into the developer hands and watch us toil away for little to no progress in game!

Have you seen the Outside Mini’s?

The Dog Mini’s have so many options its almost too much. You can get these cute lil ones that you can dress up and I have seen some people even PvP with their big mean ones. Some people even have big ones to guard their home instance. This is a very cool feature, I had some random low level try and steal from my nodes so I think I need one of these.

The only problem with the Dog Mini is there is this guild called Local [Council] that requires you to pay them gold to have a Dog Mini. Like what the heck! As if that is not bad enough, the Dog Mini’s already cost a ton of gold to purchase. And don’t be fooled by their big brown eyes, the also have a Hunger and Thirst Debuff. You also have to use your ‘training’ skill to teach these Mini’s how the behave.

On the other hand, the Bird Mini is much less costly than the Dog. These also come in lots of variety, and you can use your ‘training’ skill to teach some how to talk! Bird Mini’s do not cost too much to buy outright but they do need their own home called a Cage so they do not fly away. They too have a Hunger and Thirst Debuff.

There is also this Cat Mini. From what I have seen they like to PvP with one another. They do not seem as adorable as the Dog Mini but I guess they have a purpose.

Oh and don’t think you can ignore the Mini’s Debuffs. I saw some one get attacked by this guild called RSPCA [Pets] for not taking care of theirs! Apparently anyone can dob you in for this and you get your Mini taken away from you too!

Outside’s weather is broken. Winter was hot enough to give me sunburn and Spring so cold it’s been snowing all day. Also, snow is cold and causes weird pixellation issues when it hits my eyes. The waypoint system is broken too – I gave Outside’s waypoint system a try today, only they’re called “airports” and bafflingly it took me 25 real hours to travel from the starter area (United Kingdom) to a small island on the other end of the map (Australia) and I had to make the journey with 200 or so other players at precisely the same time. It also cost me most of the gold I was carrying at the time.

There’s other things that’s odd about Outside too – my clothes wear out simply by wearing them and there’s no reliable way to fix this short of spending what little gold I have left in places called shopping malls; my hair grows on its own accord and has started to change colour from brown to grey, and I’ve noticed my skin becoming more and more wrinkly as I’ve levelled up. All these aspects about this game needs nerfing if I’m being honest as it’s not exactly encouraging long-term play.

Also, there seems to be a requirement to go “offline” for eight hours every night – server maintenance maybe? It’s hard to say because I experience weird things from time to time whilst offline – distorted graphics and garbled conversation with randoms. Apparently, this is called “dreaming” according to the Internet, which is a sort of an inter-connected MMO-type thing filled with cats.

I play Outside too. It takes ages to lvl up, and you grind for everything
Learning a specialization takes 5 years, and it takes aaagges to max a crafting profession..

What I hate the most is the magic find in this game, it’s so ridiculous and broken, you can start with max mf or 0 mf the reason why some enjoy outside to the max with their rare and exotic loots and while others grind forever. Legendaries are impossible to get by 95% of the community…
Devs should seriously balance the MF or many players will leave.

I plan to transfer servers that I’m not so happy on my server, but the trasfer cost is freaking HUGE. I guess I’m doomed in a very bad MMO.

They said something about “no signs of intelligence” and “we’ll be back later”. But I don’t think they’re coming back.

I should get a nobel peace prize or something for saving humanity. \o/

There’s something charming about rangers.

Will there be any expansions for Outside coming soon?

I don’t know how soon but I’ve heard a lot of rumors about the Mars expansion.

Not exactly an expansion, but there’s a Living World system in place that has frequent updates. Even quite significant PvP updates.

I don’t think a lot of players are into it, but this game has designated PvP environments and dedicated PvP guilds. Those are great way to gain access to really good weapons. Almost all regions have their own [army] guilds and if you enlist in one you usually get excellent training opportunities and even a periodical payment of gold.

They’re very strict on representation though, and although there are some exploits, it’s generally not possible to take the weaponry they provide and use them for PvE activities. That’s a bit of a turn off, as is the perma-death thing, and this bizarre system of permanent debuffs called “disabilities”. Those can really ruin your game.

I wouldn’t recommend it for people who are very attached to their avatars. It’s all pretty brutal. I think the devs went a bit overboard with that, but I guess it’s their way to foster a very competitive environment.

Yeah, this game is crazy. You play it according to how you want, and you get the antigank guild, The Police, after you and support threatens your account. All I had to do was go up to players and say “Duel me bro” and show them my weapons and that got me in trouble. They called The Police and Support sent me Restraining Orders, again.

When I was many year younger and play Outside I was not very smart. Many time I throw some thing into mystic forge with another player with out worry if maybe it would bring new player to game I have to mentor. Lucky for me RNG work out.

Have been playing that game for 23 years so far, quit it recently. Too much Pay To Win, exploiters anti-gank guilds seem to be biased so yeah, screw it I stick to GW2 for now.

A friend of mine just had a brutal discovery on P2W.Some veteran players are buying a buff with a blue icon to have access to the copulation mini game and those who have been caught got their account under the wrath of the banhammer.

I’ve being playing ‘Outside’ for quite a while now and recently made level 45. At these mid levels it really becomes a grind. I normally just go on to do my dailies, mainly a run in the ‘Office’ dungeon. Normally the dailies are always the same and a grind, but the other day I found i had a new one I hadn’t had before. I thought it was going to be pvp which i hate in any game, but it turned out that the other player, a member of the guild ‘Inspectors’ (TAX) was just trying to do his daily as well and we could just work together and both managed to get our daily done in record time.

One note for those who join guilds and don’t want the 18 level debuff from additional account mentoring, there is a range of buffs you can get called ‘contraception’ varying from one use, to ones that last up to 3 levels. I’m on a UK server and if I go to a member of Doctor (NHS) they even give some of them out for free (about the only thing you can get for free in this game). I’m on the UK server and I think the devs are starting to worry about the population level and are trying to find ways to stabilise it.

I find the Cat mini pets are far preferable to the Dog mini pets they don’t seem to suffer the ‘Bored’ debuff as easily and I have heard that if they get enough stacks of ‘bored’ they have a ‘Destructive’ mode that they can go into and wreck everything in your home instance. Cats also have a special ‘Purr’ buff that increase the general well being of everyone in range which can help hold of some of the debuffs that occur.

Thanks for the laugh (and for your service! o7)

Thank you,

So far I have leveled up a bit. If I am lucky I might make a carrier out of this Guild yet

I find that the devs need to completely revamp the entire crafting system in Outside, as it has rendered the game almost unplayable. The TP has adopted completely unreasonable sellers fees, and final value fees. Big guilds such as [IRS] and [GOV] have completely taken control of the TP, and have made crafting professions utterly impossible to earn anything useful in the game with. Other big guilds such as [CHI] are continuously crafting products, using low level mats, and undercutting my guild’s pricing on the TP as well. They say the high TP fees are to ensure that all the AFK players in towns will continue to get their drops uninterrupted. Devs, please fix this.

The fact that you only get one char per account in Outside just makes it that much worse. Although, you can have unlimited crafting professions, it doesn’t really help, because of the rapid day/night cycle they’ve built into the game, and the mandatory character sleep timer they’ve incorporated! Who’s bright idea was that?

The graphics are buggy as kitten as well. The brightness of the monitor is only half the problem. Snowy screens, and prism like color distortions, as though the light was passing through water droplets, continually plague my system, and my GPU can’t even begin to process all the data variables. Today I tried a new motorcycle mount I purchased in the game, (after taking another beating at the TP,) and the monitor was again plagued with green, brown, and white patches, and empty blank spots (kids are calling them “pot-holes”, all I know is that my system can’t render them effectively). Directional control of my character was spotty, and the whole feel of the game just left me cold. I will say, that audio was improved in the last patch, I’ll give them that.

So , I’m taking a break from Outside again, until the next major patch. And, I’m really hoping they get some things set right because it’s not a bad game overall. It’s just the stupid stuff in it sucks.

Outside used to be awesome until car lights came on during the day. Now I don’t want to ride my bike or walk anymore until I make special sunglasses with gels that cut out lots of wavelengths so the lights appear dim red or purple depending on the lights. This makes the lights way less harmful and distracting.

Be extremely careful when selecting clothing options for Outside. Despite its E for Everyone rating, there’s a hidden nude option available! After hearing about it, I decided to try it, and I was shocked to discover that my character’s base model isn’t censored at all.

Most maps seem to have rules to discourage using the nude option. However, those rules don’t seem to apply to your home instance, specifically in certain rooms like the bedroom or bathroom. I haven’t found them yet, but there are supposedly some special beach maps that allow using this option too. I’ve also heard rumors about players from the [DARE] guild that are bending the rules by secretly enabling this option in low-populated zones of other maps.

Apparently, the nude option is enabled by default for 0-level characters right at the beginning of the “Born Into the World” intro mission. However, I don’t recall much before my character’s Memory ability was first activated around level 3.

I had been hearing about Outside buffs a lot so went to the gym they were being sold at. I’m now 30 gold a month worse off plus they expect you to train there after work every day.

Also pet management is a nightmare, I won a goldfish mini and it died about an hour after I’d spent loads of gold on housing and food, I got given a dog mini to test and it ate my rabbit mini and I had to return it and buy new rabbit minis. Support were less than supportive about doing a rollback. Apparently it would affect causality and reality, whatever they are.

And some of the worst gold spam I’ve ever seen. You can buy commemorative 2 gold piece coins in a commemorative box and it costs 5 gold. And worse, buying one signs you up for a monthly service where they send you more coins each month for some kind of collection and each one costs substantially more than it’s worth.

But I’m not stupid, I’m putting all my money in gems. A company called de beers has a savings scheme and who wouldn’t trust a company with beer in their name? Ikr!

I also found a way to make money. One of the local vendors has reduced the price of many of their items so I’ve pretty much cornered the market in butter and slabs of poultry meat. Soon as they run out of stock I’m going to sell it all back to them at a profit. You should all check your own local vendors to see if you can do the same.

It’s true. The game has some very generous people. I got an email from a very nice lady, a complete stranger to me, who said she was going to the endgame server and she picked me out of all the people in the game to send all her gold to. All I had to do is send her a couple of thousand gold to pay for lawyer expenses and I’ll be on easy street also. You can believe I sent the gold off that very same day with a big thank you. It’s been a couple of weeks now since she got my gold, but it shouldn’t be much longer before I get that 3.1 million.

That’s a default in game outfit that comes with evevy character called “Birthday Suit” and it can be toggled off and on with "Town Clothing ".

I was trying to be somewhat discrete by not specifying the exact method for enabling the nude option, but yes that’s how you do it. Also note that the Birthday Suit appears to be soulbound, unsalvageable, unsellable and undeleteable, but thankfully it doesn’t appear to occupy an inventory slot.

The Birthday Suit does feature some customization options. One is a nearly-permanent cosmetic update that involves visiting a special tattoo crafter shop. At the shop you can select from a wide number of patterns in multiple colors, or even request custom designs. The result seems similar to Norn body art, but for Outside it’s race-bound to humans.

Another even more permanent customization option is something called “piercing”. It sounds rather painful, but it can add extra ring slots across different body areas. Imagine how powerful this feature could be in GW2 – it would allow us to be able to wear and benefit from additional accessory items!

Finally, there’s another cosmetic customization option called “tanning”. The process is time-gated, and occurs by spending sufficient time in direct sunlight or other sources of UV. This causes the Birthday Suit to become darker in those areas that aren’t covered by the currently worn clothing option, and the border between these sections are known as “tan-lines”. These can later be viewed when the Birthday suit is worn. (Supposedly tanning can be done while wearing the Birthday Suit which results in no tanlines, but this may require visiting one of those special beaches I mentioned in my previous post.) There are dangers of doing too much tanning – the character can be infected with a temporary but painful degen condition known as “sunburn”. Even worse, there’s a risk of being afflicted by the disease called “skin cancer” which if not noticed early enough can lead to perma-death.

I’ve been playing Outside for 24 hours a day for as long as I can remember. I think I might be addicted. Sometimes I play so long I fall asleep before I can find a safe place to park my toon and that’s not good – you can wake up to find somebody has hacked your account and stolen your outfit and currencies. One time I woke up and found my toon parked beside another player’s toon. Apparently we had been playing together the night before and working towards the 10,000 drinks achievement. Somehow our armour pieces had come off but fortunately we found them in the vicinity. I wanted to add her to my friends list but she said she was moving to another server and wouldn’t be able to play with me again. She did whisper me later and rant about some condition I’d given her called [pregnancy]. Apparently my boon duration wasn’t as long as I thought and my [Protection] had run out at some point.

I’m leaving Guild Wars 2 as I found a brand new game. It’s called Outside. Even though this is a Guild Wars 2 forum I’m sure everyone really wants to know about the details of my life.

So Outside. My first day.

ITS BRIGHT. LIKE REALLY REALLY BRIGHT!
(Note to self: first forum post, if I can find the forum >.> is to ask for the graphics to be turned down. That bright light in the sky is to much.)

The game is free to play, but OMG the Devs ding you with charges on everything. And there no waypoints. Right now I’m still on foot. I’m hoping for one of the mounts called a car, but the prices are outrageous.

One thing I’ve found is that there’s PvP in this game and if you gank someone you can loot their personal inventory. However all the PvEers get really upset when you gank There’s a guild (name of guild: The Police [GUNS]) that makes it their business to stop ganking and since they are max level with game store bought weapons, they’re a bit too strong for me to tackle. I’ll wait till later. Maybe I can find another guild that pvps against them.

(A few hours pass)

Ok, I’ve found out that the endgame involves the permadeath of your char. You get moved to another server and all your gold and inventory is taken from you. There seems to be a lot of different servers. From what I can tell, you join a guild in this game and after you finish playing the game and are ready for the endgame, you move to that server. They all have guild houses called “churches” or “temples” depending on the guild.

Note: I’ve found out the Devs hold a real grudge in this game. Tick them off and you get sent at endgame to a server called Hell where the drops are awful and RNG is always against you.

(More time passes)

Still on foot. This is ridiculous. I need gold for my car mount. I tried killing mobs but nothing drops from them. All sources of gold seems to be PvP related. I’m still to low level with only crappy noob weapons to do much. I guess I could try ganking someone to get their inventory loot…. This game badly needs a NPE to explain it and give rewards for leveling.

Hmmm. The Devs must have read my post about the bright graphics. They’ve removed that bright light and put in a much dimmer one. I’m not in favor. I can barely see anything. I’m walking around in the dark here. I supposed to pay for lights now with the nonexistent gold I’ve made? This is KITTENKITTEN!

Well, I’m logging out for a while. I might try it again later but for a f2p game, they have to many gamestore costs and I’m suspicious about the endgame.

I think you have a misconception about [GUNS]. That guild only pretends to stop ganking, when it reality its just centralized ganking, and if you trade the wrong thing to another player or do some other tedious thing this one guild called Government [RULE] (whose members are partially picked by two really-hypocritical but really-large guilds called Right-Wing [NATSOC] and Left-Wing [GLOBALSOC] ) doesn’t like, you also wind up getting [GUNS] after you.

There are a couple guilds trying to upend this system in favor of one where you can PvP people who try to take the stuff you earned in PvE, but they keep getting labeled crazy and evil and selfish and what have you.

And the worst part is that some of the people in guilds like [GUNS], [RULE], [NATSOC], and [GLOBALSOC] tend to either put CC conditions or endgame on so many players just trying to do PvE and enjoy as many game hours as possible – even targeting brand new players who haven’t even made it through the tutorial, which is being monopolized by those four guilds so that you are basically unable to play the game without being a member of one of them.

It really, really sucks, which is why I stick with Guild Wars 2, Skyrim, and my other games and do my best to ignore and avoid the vulgar cesspool that is Outside until enough PvErs level their “Intelligence”, “Wisdom”, “Basic Morality”, “Defiance”, “Honor”, “Self-Respect”, and “Courage” stats up enough to to help me PvP those four guilds of bullies into the endgame so we can PvE as we see fit in peace.

So as far as the “lesser of two evils” goes with this living world event called “Election” going on in one infamous server of Outside, I’ll be gaming instead of voting.
Because this game might be far from perfect, but its a heck of a lot better than the game Outside which I also call Idiocracy.

As far as the endgame goes, I’m not too worried about it for reasons I won’t get into.
But I certainly am going to put up a fight if one of those Devs tries to put me in Hell, since it seems that most of those Devs deserve to be in it far more than I do.

tl;dr: Great post. Had to build on it.

Edit: As far as those guilds I mentioned that are trying to upend that system, they’re also okay with mutual PvP [dueling] as well as defensive and retaliatory PvP. They’re just against initiatory PvP. So its a much fairer system that is set up quite similarly to Guild Wars 2’s WvW and PvP systems instead of one where all the PvPers basically gang up and farm PvErs and falsely label themselves “PvE protectors” to get a bunch of low-Intellect-stat PvErs to support them.

Any sufficiently advanced science and/or technology is indistinguishable from magic.
