Changing the color scheme is a hilariously amateur mistake.

Why all the mesmer hate?
….
Not all mesmers wear and worship purple….

Oh and by the way, the only thing “purple” about Mesmers are their GW1 counterparts. GW2 Mesmers are all about pink and fuchsia (another thing I don’t like about Mesmers (gw1) vs Mesmers (gw2) )

In fact, my Mesmer has all of his main sets (and even town clothes lol….) blue

But, I do agree that they shouldn’t just change Meteorologicus out of pure whim.

Did you guys see the footsteps on the stream? And I thought the night version was bad :|| Those lightnings look so out of place.

Mesmers already have purple legendaries to use play with: Bolt and Quip
Thematically, they also get Minstrel.

And now they get sceptre too…

Quasi-elitist dungeoneer and missing Gw1 GvGs greatly.

Anet hasn’t mentioned Purple in any of the dev previews, and the new textures look great.

Footsteps are bleh, but as long as its not purple— thank God.

Are you kittening kidding me Anet?

The purple looks like kitten. The lightning footsteps look like kitten. This is ridiculous.

I never was closer to quiting this game. I could maybe learn to ignore these idiotic footsteps – at least they are small – but the kittenING glows, both the purple one (not even going to comment on that one) and the new shade of blue (worse in every possible way) I simply can’t. I feel like vomiting when I see this weapon now.

Honestly I’m trying very hard not to be dramatic.

My first impulse is to quit the game and remove all of my guides from the internet, because I’m honestly disgusted by this.

I like the new skin.

However, it should have been a new weapon. Not a change to one that people already have.

If they turned the moot green or purple, I’d be kitten ED.

So +1 for changing it back.

Here’s what people thought of GW1 when it first came out: http://tinyurl.com/bntcvyc

I MADE A PURCHASE OF A BLUE WEAPON. THIS IS AN UNFAIR CHANGE.

The people who wanted a purple weapon purchased the wrong scepter.

No… the change isn’t good whatsoever (aside from bad footsteps)

Pros
-Nice colours on the glows (until it turns night)
-Footsteps (but they’re pretty bad)
-You at least bothered to make a night cycle… kinda

Cons

-Footsteps are lame
-Glow is a bit translucent
-Sheathed weapon looks stupid
-YOU REMOVED THE TRAIL

Night mode sub cons

-Ugly
-Purple
-Not really Night themed
-No miniature stars (No not the clean shines)
-You can use a darker shade of blue for night, it really is that easy.
-No Seriously, use a darker shade of blue.

How you can ABSOLUTELY FIX METEORLOGICUS SO IT MAKES EVERYONE HAPPY:

Day:
-Add trails
-Make the blue glow a little less transulcent
-BRING BACK THE TRAIL’S (I don’t think you understand how sad it is to see this go.)
-Add more cloud effects on the footsteps, the lightning looks weird until the clouds come along but that is usually later
-Make it glow and trail when sheathed, I don’t like looking at meteorlogicus in it’s raw form

Night:
-Darker, blackish blue (BLUE, NOT PURPLE)
-Make the crystallized cloud black, the weapon looks like a mess when night hits and one part is white and the other is black..
-Unique dark blue trail that comes off the weapon

Here is my sincere attempt to be constructive.

Not many people are 100% satisfied by the new Meteorlogicus. Here are some suggestions on how to make more people happy:

Awesome Job On Some Of The Changes:

-New textures look amazing

-New daytime glow looks amazing

-Day/night cycle is a cool idea

Fixes Everyone Can Agree Upon:

-The blue/purple trail should not have been removed. This trail looked amazing and needs to come right back.

-When sheathed during daytime, Meteorlogicus no longer glows, which looks atrocious. Return Meteorlogicus to full effects when sheathed. The weapon just looks like a bunch of random bits of empty metal when sheathed now, whereas before it was a beautiful, glowy scepter with a purple/blue trail. The fact that it glows when sheathed at night suggests this is just a bug.

Fixes Only Some People Want:

-About 50% of players seem to hate the new footfalls.
I think the biggest issue is that the clouds take a little too long to form, and that since the lightning is off the ground, unlike other footsteps, it is visually disorienting to have right in your face. Perhaps the clouds should appear at the same time or before the Lightning.
The black clouds also make little sense during daytime— perhaps these footsteps should only appear at night, with white clouds with no lightning during the day.

-Most players dislike Meteorlogicus turning purple at night. I am one of them.

At this point, I think Anet should do right by the community and split Meteorlogicus into two different skins via Mystic Forge Recipe.

Dark Meteorlogicus:
Current Meteorlogicus, but with all of the above changes.

Light Meteorlogicus
Removed footsteps. Removed day/night cycle. Remains blue and sunny at all times. True to the original Meteorlogicus. A perfect version of the serene, tranquil weapon that many of us worked months towards.

This would make everyone happy while giving Meteorlogicus a special, unique customization that makes it LEGENDARY for all players.
——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Changing a weapon’s color, particularly an expensive Legendary’s, was an unprecedented move that has made a lot of people upset. It sets the dangerous standard that Anet can do anything they want to change an item that you worked hard for. This would be a good faith move that would make all current and future Meteorlogicus users happy.

The thing that put me off the most is the purple glow at night. I wish it was dark blue.. idk but definetely not purple…

As for the trail – simple solution is to use it on the day version and keep the stars on the night one.
Tbh I’m not really hopeful we’ll see any more changes…it’s a punishment for not picking a mainstream weapon like Twilight…

I was partial to the color slider idea someone brought up….somewhere. Give people 2, one for day, one for night. Let them pick how blue or purple it shows up, during the day/night cycles.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

This Thread +1, don’t let it die.

I’m happy, that the devs tried to improve some of the less popular legendaries, but they went way too far with this one. I really tried to like the new look at the beginning, but I just can’t stand it at night.

They removed old features, aka the trail, and completely changed the base theme of the weapon. I don’t really know, how the devs thought that thunderclouds would fit this weapon. To me it always had more of a celestial theme, and I was expecting white fluffy clouds as footfalls, but maybe thats just me.
It would be nice, to get a reply from Arenanet’s side to this topic, since I haven’t seen any so far. It’s just not fair to those people, who spent so many hours of playtime for this weapon.

I’ve played Mesmer since day 1, and I have to say, I preffer the blue look.

Seems like an opinion. One I do not share.

“Cons

"
Footsteps are an opinion. Sheathed is an opinion. Did sheathed change?
I agree it should have a trail and or get it back. I don’t mind the glow but it could be better.
