I did not want a purple weapon. I wanted a blue weapon. I want it to be blue during the day, and I want it to be blue at night.
You can’t change the COLOR of a weapon people spent months working on. I happen to HATE the color purple. It’s the reason I don’t have a Mesmer.

Please don’t force it on me. This patch will ruin my favorite item and achievement I’ve had in GW2— or any game, for that matter. Yeah, I hate purple that much— and I love the current Meteorlogicus that much.

Where is everyone seeing purple?
Am I color blind all of a sudden?

One of the images for the next patch is a night shot of the newly designed meteorlogicus that seems to feature the moon on a pink purple sky. My guess is it will stay similar to now in the day but change to a more night sky appearance at night.
Here is the screenshot : https://d3b4yo2b5lbfy.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/0c6a807-Legendary-Weapons.jpg
Aww, well by the looks of it that’s probably the night version.
But then again I think a blue tinted moon is more reaslistic anyway.
The purple doesn’t seem right.
I hate this change as well if they indeed do “upgrade” Meteorlogicus in that way, it might very well kill the game for me. As the OP said, this is not a minor change, a purple glow (which I also hate, and have no mesmer for the same reasons) drastically changes the aethethics of this weapon. In a way I very much dislike.
There is another topic on the matter already, maybe they should be merged – https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/I-am-against-new-colors-of-Meteorologicus
I don’t have the Meteorologicus, nor do I care about it, and in fact I love the color purple. But coincidentally I had previously pondered this exact scenario and agree with the OP, changing a legendary’s color scheme is not fair to those that have worked so hard for them.
Legendarys, by nature, are for aethetic value, and people put a lot of thought and effort into designing how their toon will look.
However, people have asked anet to improve legendary’s that lacked luster, and that puts them into a hard spot. Any improvement will change the legendary, making it more desirable for some, and less for others.
Should really just let us dye the “tint” colors on legendaries, they are legendaries they should make that happen, would be amazing customization.

Thanks for being empathetic to a cause that doesn’t necessarily affect you personally; that is very rare.
Honestly, I expected changes to Meteorlogicus. I don’t particularly like the Star particles I see in the screenshot— but that’s fine. And really, whatever else they did, I can live with— even if I hate it.
But changing the color just isn’t something I ever imagined could happen, or I would not have sought out this particular Legendary.
There is a huge difference between improving a legendary – adding some effects, altering the look of some skills, etc – and changing the color scheme. That is simply unfair, just as you said.
I am not sure whether anyone asked Anet to improve Meteorlogicus. I know three more people who have it, and all of them love it as it is right now. They all crafted it because of its amazingly detailed design, the not over-exagerated effects (no footprints, for one) and because they did like the current color scheme. And so did I. If this gets changed, I for one will simply feel cheated.
calm down people, it might change depending on time of the day or something like that. We dont know yet.

I’m totally aware of that. I don’t want it to be a Purple at night.
How is changing the tint “improving”?
Sorry to those who spent a lot of time getting their legendaries and have gotten attached to them.
While improving visuals can be good, it should be done on either new gear, or gear that doesn’t take very long to get(i.e. not legendaries)
Too many weapons are pink as is. It’s impossible to find decent looking weapons as a necromancer since everything is mesmer tuned.
Down with the pink and purple!
Whatever changes they make, it’s bound to upset some people. I made my Meteorlogicus and was disappointed that there was no aura or footfall effect – but I know people who specifically like the fact that there are no footfalls on some legendaries.
So what are the obvious solutions?
1) Add a “Display legendary footfall effects” toggle in settings (if a footfall effect is added)
2) Allow certain legendaries to be tinted, i.e. Meteor can be colored anywhere on the blue to purple spectrum, with a slider in the same location as dye colors for armor (if the color scheme is changed)
Agree 140%.
Anet stop slapping “mesmer” and cheap looking lightning effect on everything!
I was going to make it cause it looks heavenly. I was holding off crafting it and if this change is what we assume it would be I will sell my prec and whatever else I can because it’s disappointing and I feel for everyone who already has the weapon!
When people wanted improvement surely they ment footsteps or character aura or both not something as drastic and unappealing like that.

Purple is one of my favorite colors, I’d be happy if it changed to purple. Purple is the color of royalty and pimps.

And I hope they include an optional purple versions for players who prefer it.
I would not deny you an item that suits your taste— I just hope the same courtesy is afforded to me.

Off topic but… that sylvari… it’s staring at me… cannot look away….
I happen to HATE the color purple. It’s the reason I don’t have a Mesmer.

Excuse me, but the color of Mesmers is not purple, it is PINK.
Don’t let me catch you making this mistake again.

I messaged you in-game to apologize formally.
Ah, that would explain the small blue/purple trail that it currently leaves whenever I run or swing the Meteorlogicus around. To be honest, I like the additional aesthetic effects so far from the screenshot, but I hope there is a footstep/aura/longer trail added.
It seems like there will be floating stars swirling around too, so maybe the day version (if it does have a day-night version) there will be a light blue or “sunny” aura?
Either way, I’m looking forward to it!

You mean add a feature into the sequel 1 year later that was already in the prequel since its launch?
Pish Posh I say!

Dyeable weapons is something everyone wants.
I took a screenshot of the Meteorlogicus while running and I notice that there are two trail colors – blue and purple.

With the new screenshot showing the night-version, it makes sense of why there is purple already implemented. Perhaps the night/moon version has the trail colors being switched (meaning that the purple will leave a longer trail than the blue).
Edit: Added a 2nd screenshot to show when drawn out

This a kick in the nuts considering I obtained the precursor for this weapon exactly because I wanted a blue themed Legendary to fit my character’s appearance. Just why..

Of course a Mesmer who is already running around in purple gear is going to be okay with this change.

For about 40 minutes every 2 hours..

Yes, but it still shows that the Meteorlogicus already had some purple implemented.
Edit: And the majority dye color I have on is royal blue, then some morning glory (the purple) and then little bit of winter ice.

Good, and it should stay that way.
Or, perhaps instead of purple, make it dark blue/black the match with the moon and stars, which is also nice too.
That would help solve the purple issue.

Sorry guys. Colors change. World Turns.
Or let us dye weapons or weapon particles.
I want my Incinerator to be a blue flame.

There is not a single other instance of colors changing in this entire game.
I could not have possibly predicted that buying my Legendary would be a gamble because one day Anet might decide to change the color.
You could quit, that would show them whos boss
Last time they did something big that everyone disliked (changing the pew pew sound effect on Predator that everyone loved) there was a small revolt and they reverted it.
I don’t like Meteorologicus too much, but I agree that with stuff that takes this long to craft, they shouldn’t make changes that could annoy the players that took so much effort on crafting it.

Time of day won’t matter to someone when the color that’s an issue is sucha big turn-off for them they don’t play one of the professions. (Admittedly, mesmers are heavy-purple)

Thanks. I personally LOVE Meteorlogicus. I NEVER thought I’d make a legendary in this game. I didn’t even have a character that could use a scepter effectively. In fact, there wasn’t one.
I then theory-crafted the hell out of Elementalists to see if Scepter could be a viable mainhand weapon, and it appeared that it could be. Then I leveled an Elementalist for the sole purpose of wielding Meteorlogicus.
And now Anet is making it purple.

If Arenanet follows through with this change, it should be taken to heart by everyone who wants to buy or craft a legendary, that Anet doesn’t care about the money, time, and effort you put into anything in this game, they are going to change it to however they see it making them money.

I’m not quite as cynical as that.
I just think Anet wanted to do us right by updating the Legendary, and didn’t think about how much we might not like Purple.
Its great for Mesmers, but not for Guards, Eles, and Necros.
Yeah, there’s really no reason there should be a visual change to something someone worked at getting for months.

The purple won’t happen until the September 3rd patch. The idem is indeed identical— hence why I’m so happy with it right now
This thread shall be bumped. Meteorlogicus shall not be purple!!!
You should be honoured! Clearly your Meteorologicus is going to change according to which level you finish SAB in Tribulation mode.
It can be blue, green, yellow, red or even purple!

Dev confirmed day/night cycle.
Do not want PURPLE night.
I finished my Meteorlogicus about 3 weeks ago. I love the way the weapon looks as-is. I primarily use scepter on my necro, so it seemed like a perfect choice. I was really hoping for some kind of awesome update to this weapon- every time I see someone running around with Twilight or Kudzu and their footprints that make you say, “oh snap! there goes a legendary!” I look down at my legendary and wish it was just a little more showy; legendaries, after all, are purely trophy weapons. The stardust effect will be nice. I wish the planets rotated while the weapon was sheathed, rather than just in combat stance. I’m getting anxious for September 3 so I can see the changes. If the purple fog looks really terrible, then we just have to let Anet know and hope they’ll take it away
