I have heard them say that they intend to release more Ascended gear at some point including weapons which will (along with legendarys) have greater stats/dmg than exotics. They are after vertical progression (and gem sales) after all so yea…

I would be perfectly happy to not bother…but alas I don’t want to fight other players only to think “Well I lost because he has a legendary or Ascended weapon and they do more damage”. This happened in WoW regularly so I always had to get on that horrible gear treadmill and reason why I went with GW2 which was great but obviously the manifesto was abandoned so not much I can do about it.

Anyways since I will never step into a fractal, I am not in a guild, and only way I can get better gear is from laurels that takes months on end to save enough to buy just one item….so should I save laurels or spend now and buy a few rings…?

It’s a problem. I don’t do fractals either and only a few people log on in my guild anymore so can’t really do the guild bounty stuff with them. If we ever do it we will prolly need to admit temporary guildies who only join to do that then leave. What you might do is ask in LA chat if there are guilds that are accepting temporary members to do bounties and join for that.

As for the laurels, I bought amulets for my characters but from now on I’m saving mine. Hopefully in the future they will make ascended items craftable or have more ways to get them. If not, by then I will have a supply of laurels to get what I can. And hopefully have some commendations.

I actually decided that high level fractals are not my interest. With this decision I decided to spend all my laurels on unid dyes, will be doing the same with all future laurels too. I guess exotics are good enough for me.

The damage upgrade from one tier to the next is usually under 10%. With that being said, weapons give the most stats out of all your gear, but Ascended items have many, many methods of being obtained.

I don’t think it’s going to be that difficult to get ascended weapons when they do get released.

Use your laurels on what you want. If the ascended weapons come out, you will be able to get it via laurels, commendations, fractals, wvw, pve, dungeons, new content or something else. Note: None of this last sentence is confirmed.

I really don’t want to go after a legendary or ascended item but I have to since is is statistically better and 10% is actually quite big increase imo…must have items…weapons are going to be a factor no matter what from what I see. If you only have exotics, I will be inferior to ones who have legs/ascended.

Anyways, guess I save them for now…

Rings, assuming you just want stats and not infusion alongside it, aren’t really high level just need to get to teir ten, it’s actually much easier after that than it would be to get laurels

You should try Guild Missions. I’m the leader of an inactive guild (other than myself) and I’m also in a guild that does guild missions every friday. I can grab 5 commendations every friday, easily getting me what I need (although it only offers me accessories, which are all I need atm).

Ok you’re wrong on 2 accounts here. 1. it’s not elitist to wanna communicate with people since some fractals like dredge and colossus are actually pretty hard higher tier and lower tier it’s helpful to know what to not do since they do have mechanics. 2. the only way you’ll find elitist players is round 28 on up. If you don’t like other people’s rules MAKE YOUR OWN GROUP. You’re just crying bout people when if you find a problem with other groups make your own and state the rules. anything under 16 is beyond easy you don’t need any form of voice communication to succeed.

Also saying people only want specific classes…. I’ve done over 300 fractals which is over 60 groups and very very rarely do people complain bout classes. Some people get skeptical with 5 thieves in a group but that’s only because certain bosses it helps but isn’t required to have reflects and group utilities. again if you make the group you decide what comes or doesn’t come. which is ironic cause your tag name is fixit and you’re kind of doing a poor job fixing a minor issue. not a personal attack but this is just you wanting people to make groups for you and expecting everyone to be understanding when you can be in charge of the situation.

I’d probably stop playing altogether if they use laurels as the ONLY method of obtaining new ascended items. Its just a really kittenin lazy way to add near gear without real content to get it.

I don’t do dungeons or fractals at all. I’ve been buying those bags with the T6 mats in them to make stuff with mine.

I would think they’d add the armor items to karma vendors it’s a little odd to be using laurels like this especially since there’s only 1 thing per account to do to get them.

Seeing as how they used laurels to limit purchases through WvW vendors, i sincerely doubt we will ever see ascended eq buyable with karma. They just don’t want us to be able to use the work we have already done.
Considering that ascended are here as a delay measure, unless we somehow manage to change Anet’s mind, they will always remain heavily time-gated.

If other ascended gear is just as easy to get as the current items, I’m fine.

Sure they’re not free and you’ll need half a brain, but 6 times 15 minutes for an earring isn’t too much imho. 30 laurels for an amulet is just fine and 10 tokens per ring is good too.

ascended gear can be useful also outside fractals, anyway fractals are fun to do. i did it with pugs and guild or friend and is always fun, i never get frustrated if first timer got lost or screw things up, only at higher level this is a problem and you don’t go high level with first timer anyway.
i don’t know if it is true but i think people who doesn’t like fractals have never done it, or maybe tried the dredge level and rage quitted (perfectly understandable i hate the dredge level at any tier…)
