I’m glad guild wars 2 shows the in game message notifying that it is in fact a player sending the message. I know the scam is obvious anyway but still more warnings wont hurt.

Yes, it’s almost as if the sticky at the top of the subforum didn’t exist…

I stole a special snowflake’s future by exercising my democratic right to vote.

Had a few of these myself. Report and block. That’ll get rid of them.
Not sure why you bothered to block out your account info since we can all see that anyway, but it’s a handy reminder that the last reduced price offer probably attracted more scammers than it did actual players.

./facepalm
how much more warning do you need?
You got 1 in game right below the mail.
And when you enter to post on this forum, another 1 on the top as sticky.
Would you like a pop up in the middle of your screen while playing every 5 mins?

Just a FYI. It’s against forum rules to name and shame, which is having that picture with the name of the char that sent it not blocked out.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

I don’t frequent this sub-forum and to be honest I never look at the red posts as I assume it’s likely always old/outdated info. As much as they are made to stand out they are honestly skipped more than regular threads.

When Anet used to make tournament announcements and post them as stickies they actually got less attention than standard posts. Assuming Pvp players are the same as anyone else my guess is a large portion of players skip past stickies.

Yes it already mentions it in game as I stated in my original post. I don’t want any additional warning I’m just posting this to maybe help that one person who didn’t notice them. If these scams didn’t work at all they wouldn’t be sent out in the first place.

Sorry if you took great offense to this outrageous post though.. /s

God forbid the bot account trying to steal all our accounts is shamed into not stealing all our accounts… oh wait.

It could be a photoshopped picture or it could be a stolen account being used to steal other accounts.

The point is, we can’t tell the honesty of random forum posters (who might have a grudge against someone and is trying to get them in trouble) and can’t tell stolen accounts from non stolen accounts by a picture. The rules are there to protect the innocent from being accused on purpose or by accident.

Or, the stolen account’s character now is thought to be the scammer. You never can tell whether the account was stolen or purchased for nefarious purposes.

If i were OP, i’d also block the scam web address. Just in case someone is stupid enough to try to see what’s in there.

Actions, not words.
