Why is the “Search” box even on this forum? I know the web admins are aware it does not work. So why don’t they just remove it?

Not only does it not work, it is a big reminder everytime I come to the forums that anet is not interested in fixing what the player base asks them to fix, but just goes on with business as usual.

Feel free to read the rest of the forum to see everything else they are ignoring.

What they fail to realize is if they fixed the Search function, the number of repeat posts would go down considerably. Which would give them 1000’s of redundant threads less to read through. If they do realize this then…. wth.

I dare someone to tell me I should have posted this in another thread describing the broken Search function.

Seriously? We have a billion threads about the broken search function. You couldn’t search for one of those and post it there? Sheesh.

I agree they should remove the search box. The reason why they should remove it, they have stated that they cannot fix it:

So they might as well take it off the page. Then again, maybe they can’t do that either.

It should be trivial to remove it from the site. I can understand why they may have reservations about doing that, but having a non-functioning search box is even worse than no search box at all.

Of course, they could also hire someone to fix it up. I wouldn’t be opposed to giving it a go..

Removing it would likely break a lot of stuff. If you think something is trivial about the coding, then it very likely isn’t trivial at all.

Removing it would likely break a lot of stuff. If you think something is trivial about the coding, then it very likely isn’t trivial at all.

Its totally trivial .. just find in the code where this is generated and make the input type=hidden .. and thats it.

Lol… hiding an input field on a page is the dictionary definition of trivial

Removing =/= hidden. My statement still stands.
