Dear ANet staff,

There is indeed a little ‘favorites’ feature one can use to keep track of what dyes they use most/favor towards but I would further appreciate a tiny search option whereby you simply type in the name of the dye (e.g; Iron) and it automatically finds/highlights that dye for you.

Why? …When you own all dyes in the game and merely want to look for a specific one you know the NAME of but can’t quite find hue-wise it’s a bother to find. I may not know them well enough by their oh-so-similar shades yet I know their names and the nice effects they have on certain armor.

..Feel free to discuss this topic. Would you like a feature that’s easier to track down specific dyes?

This would be nice indeed. I’ve often wanted this feature as I know the one I want to try by name but need to search for it by trial and error through several similar colors.

While it isn’t exactly what you’re asking for, try right-clicking the dyes on your panel. It should save that color to the top of your dye collection so then you can find it easier for next time.

Exactly my thoughts; it’s a bit of a time waster as I have to do the same thing, haha.

I think it only saves a certain number (8? 10?) So if I have a pastel green color combination for my armor and want to use abyss, celestial, redemption and iron for costume one, 4 different dyes for costume 2, 4 different dyes for costume 3, 4 different dyes for costume 4,….. After about 10(?) dyes you can’t save any more.

Kross is absolutely correct in that it isn’t exactly what I am asking for, thank you anyway though, it’s still a handy feature.

This is why I have suggested a search option for unlocked dyes.

If I were to favorite all the dyes I really like, I would end up with a near duplicate list of all the unlocked dyes in the first place, unless that is, if what Astral states is correct – that you can only favorite a certain amount.

Did you even read what he said? The favorite bar was the first thing he said. He is asking about adding a search feature to find dyes that he doesn’t use often.

I agree, Zephyra, searching by name would be a very welcome feature.
I support your request.

Regarding the favorites list discussion in the thread:

Unfortunately, the number of different dyes that can be added to the quick access (favorites) bar is only 8. Having it raised to 11 would be fantastic though, especially since there is room for 11 to fit there.

As there is space for 11, I initially thought it being limited to 8 was due to a bug, though apparently it was not as it remained at 8 with space for 11 even after the Hero Panel revamp.

I constantly need to decide which ones I want to hang on to as a favorite. Considering all of the factors that cause dyes to not appear as the same color, I often need to use 9 or 10 slightly different shades of a dye hue just to get an entire look to match as best as possible across all pieces. This means I need to leave several off of the favorite list.

I also really hate how adding a new favorite dye when the list is already at the max causes your 8th favorite dye to get replaced. It’s quite a pain trying to search for which one was just removed to add the new one simply because you didn’t realize your favorites bar was already full.

I’d love for the favorite list to be boosted to the full 11 dye slots.

I also think it would be handy to have an additional bar added below/above your favorites that automatically has all dyes currently used on your armor added to it, no matter how many there are.

Or simply an option to sort by name would also be helpful.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

Sort alphabetically by name would be a useful idea.

I would love it if the dye tab would retain the setting that i use (sort according to hue) after closing the game client because then i would not have to click it every time i log on. Granted, it’s just once per session but still, it would be great.

Durp… I didn’t read OP carefully enough. How embarrassing…
Maybe I shouldn’t browse the forums just after waking up…

Anyways, more on topic, I agree that a search feature would be useful. There is already a search feature in the inventory and wardrobe, so it would seem appropriate to have that with dyes as well.

I concur. A search and/or some kind of “sort by color” option, where you can pick a color group like red or blue and then get all of the corresponding shades.

That they are sorted by rarity is better than no sorting at all, but it doesn’t help much in finding a specific dye, or finding a specific set of shades.

Or words to that effect.

You can sort by hue though. It then sorts into several color groups.

Yah, it sorts into grays, brown, reds, orange, yellows, greens, blues, and purples. Very helpful but alphabetical or search by name would be a nice addition.

Wish that when you selected that option the colors weren’t in a random order but organized by gradient.
