i hate the devs so much for being so kitten smart, i mean really who would have thought to hide these little beasts in freight ships? good lord these guys have brilliant moments some times. i wonder how this will tie in to things later on?
i just had a thought… what if the consortium does this on purpose to show that the lions arch council is inept and cannot protect its people, so the citizens leave and the consortium buys lions arch up and turns it into some merchant hell on earth?
that would be an amazing twist and the plot of a new story that would be amazing. how cool would it be to put an end to the consortium and their evil corporate ways?

Guild Wars 2: waiting for content simulator.
I’m not sure if the karka are really a threat anymore, other than in Southsun, after we killed the Ancient Karka. They’re somewhat intelligent, but without a clear leader they seem to be content to just stick to SSC.
If I had to guess, it’s either a Consortium plot, like others are guessing, or those baby karkas are simply stole aways that attached themselves to the passing boat. Scarlet’s Toxic Krait showed how susceptible LA is to underwater assault, and I can see the dev writing in and adding a small friendly karka colony to LA as an added layer of defense.
Might come in handy if the DSD and its minions ever attack LA.
I really love Lion’s Arch and hope they don’t wreck it again. My guild is the Black Court, a pirate guild. When we had to move out of our city, we weren’t happy. How are we supposed to….trade….

Now we just need to estamitate how long it takes one karka to grow up and then we get deep sea dragon’ karkagedon.
PS. LA’ updates will live like introducing new area of map – patch with huge visible MB to download – or like vines sprouting in silverwastes – they add them all and just set to appear in order after x time passed.
