I need to farm cores and lodestones but im curious as to whether its worth it to buy a full set of magic find gear. I despise the magic find and find it pointless but i suppose i have to deal with it until Anet decides to look at this unnecessary mechanic.

Of course it is. The only reason why you’re doubting it is because the drop rate for rares is low enough to begin with.

Can you elaborate on loot issues? my loot issue is that ive been killing dredge in frostgorge and walking around maelstrom for 4+ hours and havent received a single core/lodestone

There is a sticky up top the discussion forum regarding loot issue, and there are numerous now closed threads on the issue too.

you can get a masterwork set of mf gear for dirt cheap (or even craft it yourself). Really no reason not to.
