Ok I need to make a post about this because this has been bugging me to no end since 2010

I spent a great deal of time in the past looking for this thing in game and although I am positive this is currently unreleased or cut content I am dying to know what this thing is.. and why it’s not in the game

I’ve found skeletons of smaller creatures of the same species in the ocean around southsun cove but

does anyone have any information about this creature?

Wasn’t there a champ turtle or such in the sylvari starter zone, got removed during beta. Could be that.

No it’s not a turtle.. completely different skin plus this thing is gigantic…

like World boss gigantic or bigger lol

I’ve no idea what this thing is although I’ve always had some speculation that it is a champion of the Deep Sea dragon..

im just tired of not knowing lol
I really want to know what this thing is and whether or not it was cut from the game (and for what reason) or is part of a future expansion that simply hasn’t been released yet

What it most likely is is something cut from the game. That trailer was from 2010. A lot changed between then and release.

I know.. it’s just been bothering me that this content seems to have been far along possibly even finished..

and it bugs me that it’s not in the game despite being such a huge shock factor for one of the games big trailers

Agree with you, it’s really annoying to seeing those trailers, gameplays and much more and when you look at the game today, most of these old things are removed.

It could have been a game advertising technique called the “Bullshot” – pun intended. Usually found in screenshots, artwork, and more recently videos, you’ll find things that don’t exist in the game just for hype. Many times it’s removed just because whatever it was didn’t really fit in the game, didn’t have time to complete it, or there really wasn’t enough time to complete it because, in gw2 case, it would require too much lore to be built around it.

Another example: snakes, those were taken out for who knows what reason while things like wurms don’t even have a tail.
Or, maybe that was an early version of Tequatl and he got turned into what we have today.

There were early pictures of gw1 with things that didn’t make it into the game either. Best to just stop obsessing about things like that, it happens more than you can know. GW1 Factions had a famous dude called a ‘placeholder’ that you could find occasionally, can’t remember the name we gave him – dave or something like that.

Bubbles! I would say it’s the first rendition of the water dragon, of course it’s just a guess. It may have been associated with Cantha which we all know now was being produced but didn’t reach the game, so that’s my guess.

But yes, that’s a picture of the Leviathan that was supposed to be in Viathan Lake in Kessex Hills, but it got scrapped before launch IIRC.

And now we know! Well done, Erick! =)

Would be cool if they could bring back Leviathan again.

still with the models already created it’s possible we may see this beast in game some day
considering the size of it too in the trailer this could end up being the Underwater Boss event I’ve been wanting for years ^^

Yes, I would think back to that creature in the video many times. It still gives me faith that underwater combat will see a boost at some point…. some year.
