they used to sell armor skin pieces (and they are still on the market) but apparently it is a bust compared to outfits

i believe that they are not seperated out into pieces so that they don’t have to do the usual long and difficult clipping/quality test process on every combination of pieces

If you don’t like the outfits, you don’t have to purchase them. Outfits were designed to allow players to dress-up without having to worry about armor weight and clipping issues. There are plenty of non-gemstore armor sets with separate pieces in the game.

A bunch of new armor collections were recently released with the expansion. I suggest working on unlocking those if you happen to have it. You might just have some fun in the process!

I do think anet knows they would make a lot of money off selling armor pieces instead of outfits, but don’t want to sell us something with bad clipping issues that would make us not be happy with then

It’s also a way to look coherent while using drops as you level up. Then when you get to level 80 you can worry about customizing the actual look of your “final” armor(s).

Yes you can. hide the helm in your regular wardrobe and the one in your costume should disappear too. I do this all the time. It can be a tad buggy. usually taking a portal, or relogging fixes it if the helm keeps showing. This only works for the helm.

this is important to me else i would not have used costumes. I tend to dislike headgear 99% of the time. Not that headgear looks bad, just personal taste. I like to see my toons head, face and hair.

Imagine using only the “horror mask helmet” of the latest outfit set, combine it with the armor pieces of your choice and running around with the Greatsaw skin. Awesome.

but… sadly sadly sadly Anet dont invest energy anymore to one of the most fun parts of GW2. The fun while playing around with single armor pieces and find out new cool looking combinations.

And i know Anet can do it. I have been very happy to see the few new armor pieces coming with HoT. Great daredevil and necro helmet. Anet, convert the outfits into single armor pieces. Just Do It.

Yes, we are all hard girls & guys but sometimes we also wanna play the “Barbie Game” and handle cute dresses and… and… zzzZZzzZZz makes no sense Anet fell in love with outfits.

I like the outfits the way they are. Definition of outfit is: “a set of matching or harmonious garments and accessories worn together; coordinated costume; ensemble…” That is it is meant to be seen as one entire piece.

BUT…

There is a future maybe in pieced wardrobe IN ADDITION to outfits?

I also post on guildwars2guru.

I had the idea of raising the price of outfits by a few hundred gems and adding armor skins. Then you would be paying a little extra because you get the outfit and the individual part skins. Then everyone is happy.

After they said that we get no new Sets in the Gem-Shop but only ingame i at
least expected to get 10-15 new Armor Sets with HoT .. nut what did we get, 3
and not one of them is easy to get / directly useable . For the price of HoT i really
expected more like we had in the base game.

Please bring back armor sets in the gem-shop if we don’t even get much ingame.

The only new set i got since we got the wardrobe was Carapax .. for a skin based
game like GW2 this is simply very very sad

tell me when they did that process in the past, because nearly every piece of armor clips with another if not with the char model too (example: one of the medium hoods when you hold a bow, at least with a female human char)

They would be perfectly happy selling us armor parts at 500 gems a piece instead of full sets for 800 or outfits for 700. But people complained enough about no armor to earn, so now instead of new armor we get new outfits because they spend the majority of their time making things to sell, not earn.

Because OP was whining about the lack of armor sets with separated pieces, I was merely pointing out to him/her that there was new armor just released with the expansion. I wasn’t referring to outfits in that comment.

With the exception of 2 outfits, they can only be obtained by spending gems in the gemstore. Many are seasonal, so you can only buy them when ANet puts them back on the market.

The “Hexed Outfit” is available right now during the Halloween event. You can seek out a vendor in Lion’s Arch if you’re interested. You’ll need to collect pieces of candy corn for it, and buy it before Halloween is over.

The “Royal Guard Outfit” was given via mail to players that had old accounts. I forget the cut-off date. If you don’t have it, then you created your account after the giveaway.

all we want is some semblance of balance here (you can keep wearing outfits)…but we want new armor sets too. i know this is a money issue (anet makes more money off outfits-by a large margin) but this is also an expansion that we paid money for. that expansion should have armor sets and weapons by the wagon load..what we got are some leftover designs and only 2 of those. not acceptable.

Agreed

My main is a Sylvari and I find Sylvari just look strange in any armor that isn’t’ plant based. We only have three cultural armor sets and the twilight armor deal. But separating outifts that gives me access to Chef and Wedding Dress cultural outfits. Currently I don’t own either but I would buy them if they were available. The wedding dress arms for instance would be worth the purchase.

I hate outfits too – they’re not bad just that some parts of them are awesome and some not so much.
I can’t pick and choose what I want from each outfit – I either take all of it or none of it. Which is something that makes me invest into far fewer outfits than I would have if I had the ability to customize like with armor sets.

Lol. Op and you need to get off your entitled poneys. Anet specifically said they would make all sets they designed as pieces available for free in the game. Which is, obviously, not good.

We do need as many options as possible, though.

It’s amazing how quickly you get sick of things, when you’re watching your character run.

Far quicker than you would ever get sick of your own, or your partner’s clothes, for example.

…i sorta fight atm pretty hard not to quit. I mean sure.. i LOVE that game…but that outfit stuff is actually annoying me so much it almost hurts. Since the tower of nightmares i did not change my mains appearance at all cept the headgear. I really hoped with the x-pac i get some spiffy new armor.. ya know something that fits the engi. I got a mask… a good mask but still i only got a mask. No plated medium armor with some tools or pouches to go with it… ya know like a full specialisation armor that i sorta hoped id get….and dont come with the magitech, i wear that thing since years now. Meanwhile i can watch every darn few weeks how a new outfit gets released. I mean sure.. yea, people like em, people buy em and by all means.. these people should enjoy them…but there was something i recall in the back of my head somewhere. A blogpost that said there will be a balance between gem store outfits and in game armors. So we had a year of almost no content, sure they where working on the x-pac, an awesome x-pac. I was of course thinking that they now deliver said balance…but nope.. 3 new sets per weight class… Even if i really do love the expansion that was a kick into the shins. Where is the balance? Where are my darn skins? Where? Ah right.. in the gem store.. cause since the x-pac came out we already got 2 new outfits, one more and we are equal again…yea great, love it a-net. Look a-net. I do know you get quite a lot of income through the gem store… and i do love to support the game and your company…but if you cant be bothered to give me the “balance” you claimed then atleast sell me skins on the gem store like before. Believe me.. id buy em, specially if they are the level of quality that your outfits are right now and since you starved out the skin fans now real good a good part of them would buy em too. But why do i even write this.. you dont care anyways…with your “balance” and everything…

To be fair, there’s also the new heavy Mistward set as well as the upgraded Guild armour. Then there’s some pieces that are unlocked with the Elite specs. We actually have a decent number of new options for customization available to us, and they’re all earned in game.

To be fair, when you compare it to the number of the core game at release it is not a decent number at all. HoT effectively only adds what 3-5 sets worth of armor at best? There were 8 dungeon sets, and then karma, crafted, cultural, etc… on day 1.

It’s Anets choice to choose gem store outfits over HoT purchases. As there are at least a handful of us who are not buying HoT without better/more armor options. Outfits are easier and they seem to make more money, so they Anet is choosing to abandon us.

Yeah, I also expected more armours. Was hoping for a full set for each Elite spec, but with HoT it’s clear they chose quality over quantity. The new armour and weapon skins (aside from Reclaimed) are all very high quality and well designed. Vanilla GW2 had loads of armors, but most of them are ugly and ‘cheaply’ designed.

I’m also fairly certain that we’ll see a few more in the coming months. There are a couple datamined sets that haven’t been added to the wardrobe as yet.
