Server Guest
The game has Megaservers. https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-the-megaserver-system/
This means that the game makes and collapses maps shards as needed to handle the number of people in a particular map. All the people playing in the same data group are put together on the same map shard if there is only one shard or with guildies/friends/party members if there is more than one shard. Guesting might move you to another shard if one is available, but it might not.
You can type /ip in chat before and after you guest to see if you are on the same shard.
ANet may give it to you.

If that’s the only map then chances are you’ll get stuck there. You can also un-rep your guild and try to guest again.
What guesting does now is just give you a bit of a higher chance of being put in a megaserver map with people from the server you guested to. Though of course, if there isn’t many megaserver maps of the map you’re in, it won’t do much at all.
I’m not sure this did anything. I guested to a server other than my home one and nothing seemed to change. Same players, same guilds. A’m I missng something?
What I really want to know is if I can join a server hosted closser to me but still in the same regain (EU). I’m not wanting change region.
All servers in the EU region are served by the same data-center. Thus, joining another server (in the EU region) will make little difference.
Good luck.
