Not super sure where to put this post but this is a good place to start. Since community seems lacking at times i decided to open up a little guild event i usually run to the whole server (stormbluff Isle). If your interested in competing, send me a tell!

The Great Race (open to all) hosted by the Grim Brotherhood/The Gamer Rant
Ladies and gentlemen, boy and girls welcome to the great race. Today we will put players petal to the metal as they go head to head for honor glory and prestige as the guy that can really outrun a centaur, not to mention cash prize. The race will be recorded and on next weeks gamer rant. Thee will be food and drinks, as well as a box O fun, come join the celebration.

The rules are simple:
No teleport by waypoints
No assistance from the audience
And no potion/food/bltp buffs.

Time: 8PM EST
Date: Oct 20th

Fee: waved (complements of Pirate Songshadow)
Winners: 10s each

Im just playing. This is a good idea. Hope it works out and nobody tries to run it.

Yup, I was just thinking that as an elementalist, I have a constant 33% speed buff running the entire time I’m attuned to air, and it’s endlessly regenerating. LOL

Like in pvp every classes has there tricks or 2, most clases have some sorta boost or utility which buffs speed while other can use something like teleporting, i can tell u now, when we ran this as a guild a thief beat out a very surprised ele. Games involves a little more than just running with a boost :P come check it out if your on the server.

It’s too bad this couldn’t be done on a wide-open pvp server. That would add some fireworks to the fun

Agreed, if pvp was allowed it be much more of a battle race. but for now this is just a friendly event to get the server together.

Still, it sounds like a heck of a good time as planned

I had a similar idea. I’ve hosted similar events in other games, and I attended a really awesome one in a long ago mmo.

I had been stewing on the idea of doing this on denravi. My concerns have been so far.. how can you ENSURE that noone’s using waypoints? Are they guarded/manned by people in guild helping to watch for anyone who pops in and out of it?

I think another fun epic journey route but hard to be sure noone’s using waypoints is from blackcitadel up to the very far corner of um.. Fireheart Rise… XD

Well its a race in DR, which means it wont be so long of a race, and i have a few volunteers tailgating/recording the runners, since its 1v1 and 2v2 it will be easy to control cheaters. Since DR is full of side street and paths it also makes it more of a just run with buff, you have to know really what the fastest way, rooftops? allies? etc. I also had a Halloween one planned but would involve lot of ppl, i hope this catches on, since i see ppl complain that there no community in mmos anymore but then post like these are ignored. (>.>)
