I just wanted to say thank you to ANET devs for listening to the mob and actually giving us an option to both move the slots to top or bottom, along with being able to get rid empty unusable slots between the shared slots and the bags.

The only thing that would make this perfect would be the ability to move individual slots to top or bottom of inventory, for example:
– You could have 2 salvagers up top, and the rest of the shared slots with food/gear/fluffy items on the bottom.

PSA:

Moving the shared slot to the bottom will cause your client to crash if you access Material Storage. So, best to move it back up, first, if you want to look at your Materials in storage.

Devs are working on a fix.

Good luck.

I was really happy to see this.

All the stuff I keep in my shared slots used to live in my bottom two bags so having it right at the top was annoying. I had been keeping the shared slots minimised as a sort-of compromise but being able to move them to the bottom is much better.

I am now happy that there is the option to a) move the slot to the top or bottom and b) merge it together with the rest of the bag slots like it originally was. Wasn’t aware of these options until I read it in the forums yesterday.

How do you move it, by the way? I like having it at the top so I don’t have to scroll down to get at the salvage tools, but I thought I’d test and I couldn’t drag the slots. I didn’t look to the left where the bag tabs are, is that where you do it?

Click and drag the slot on the left panel.

You need to move the icon in the bag list, just like if you were changing the order of your regular bags.

I think you can just drag it. However, first you need to go into the general game options, and click one of the new check boxes that allows you to move the slot.

The others above answered it (thanks!). I wasn’t in game when I posted my question, so I couldn’t check the bag tab dragging. I have since verified that one can slide it down and up just fine. Curiosity is satisfied! (Also now I can help others who do wish to move it figure it out with confidence in the answer).
