Just as boring as the original fight except there’s more mess on my screen.

The achievements are disappointing. Many of them amount to “fight the Shatterer often”. All of those could be folded into a single achievement that’s actually called “I fought the Shatterer often”.

I submitted 4 bug reports on not being able to loot the trophy statue at the end. Hope I’m eligible for credit after the bug reports are reviewed.

The break bar is bugged and stops at around 70ish%. If 50+ players can’t bust it, you know it’s broken.

Kill credit for branded is not counting properly.

Kill credit for the healing crystals is not counting for me at all. Still at 0.

Dodge gliding just randomly awards and I’m not sure how credit is awarded? Is it supposed to be 1 per flight? Per “lighting thing” I pass without touching?

This event is very bugged out overall.

Do you have auto loot mastery? Pretty sure don’t need to loot the chest with that mastery.. I could be wrong and if I am then I’m missing jormag, teq, mordy and karka chests since I don’t think I’ve ever gotten loot from those chests since I mastered auto loot…

My only concern is that when I did it with a group full of people, we just stood there pressing 1. It seems a safe zone has already been found, close to the old one. Sure the “casuals” used lightly here, were using gliders and such. Because its new and cool. But the zerg just afk autoattacked still. I saw some move a little bit but I don’t see improvement here.

I find it both amusing and sad, the numerous people who have (in this thread and the other) basically said “I sat there spamming 1 like I always do, and it didn’t really seem different to me.”
?!?
So you sit there, making no real effort, and not really contributing.(like always) And you expect the event to seem different and better? Hmmm.

Well I’m here to tell ya. There are people that organize and do the pre-events – while you sit there waiting and bored.(and maybe complaining about the pre’s taking so long)
And there people that spam buffs and boons, and use CC when required, and heal people and rez people, and use unique event mechanics and accomplish objectives within the event.
– While you sit there spamming 1, bored out of your skull, and wondering why the heck Anet can’t make better events that are fun. And wondering why the boss is taking forever to die.
But don’t worry-
We will always be there to carry you.
And seriously – stop wondering why the events are so dull and boring, when you can’t even be bothered to make a proper effort.

I have enjoyed the new Shatterer each time. I have always found plenty to do. And I have found it fun and rewarding. And I’m not alone. Why don’t you join us in making a proper effort? Or at least quit wondering why you’re so bored and the event is taking forever.

Yep, I enjoyed it. Mostly because it was utterly chaotic because no-one has really sussed it yet but also because of the mass wipe at the start where we were deliberately standing in the “wrong” place for the daft achievement.

It made me wish that other world bosses would vary their tactics sometimes. Imagine if Teq sometimes landed in a different spot, or started with an assault on the main laser, or simply ate the nearest commander.

I was hoping there might be a mastery point involved though.

I’m happy for the revamp, and like the interesting new mechanics, but I would enjoy the fight a lot more if not for two things:

1. Camera issues. I like to keep my camera all the way zoomed out for boss fights so I can actually see what’s going on. Every time I glided and dropped near the Shatterer, my camera would zoom in again, so I’d have to zoom it out manually. This was quite tedious.

2. As others have mentioned, lag. I’m hopeful that this is just because it is new, but it’s difficult to react to all the new stuff when you can’t see what’s going on, can’t cast your skills, and can’t always deploy a glider. My game normally runs fine with graphics turned all the way up, and I had turned them all the way down for the fight, so I don’t think it’s on my end.

I think the fight would be really fun without these two issues! Definitely better than the previous auto attack afk fight.

I was disappointed in the guild hall decoration that drops. It’s a tiny little crystal about the size of your arm.

I lotro, you kill the Dragons you get the Skull or a house sized bronze bust of the dragon. Considering the size of Guild Halls, miniscule decorations shouldn’t really exist

Hi all.
First of all I wanted to say I like the recent changes to the shatterer bossfight but it brings with it some worry’s.

1. achievements.
Are these going to stay ingame or are these also going to dissapear like the ones from boss week (tequatle for example I had 9/10 and then it ended and now I cant seem to get these wing anymore? lame.)

2. Do Damage, get DC, get back in = No reward.
This is just plain stupid. I cant help the fact that i have a beast of a machine but the game still disconnects me for some stupid reason. then i relog in quickly in order to still get my rewards and finish the fight. guess what? no rewards.

3. Dive Master achievement.
seriously 40? I mean 5 or 10 sure but this is probably the most annoying achievement of em all. (thanks to the amount of players, lag is created which in turn makes this nearly impossible)

Please don’t see this as a complaint.
I just feel that in some scenarios the game treats the player unfair.
I think that there should be a solution for this.

1) They’re permanent.

2) That’s a universal issue with this game. I heard they were working on that but no information has been released.

3) It goes well with map/world completion. Not sure what lag has to do with diving.

Too bad they don’t do anything about graphic optimisation. You move your camera to group of players and FPS will drop no matter what hardware you have.
It’s a shame that FPS will go below 30, even if your GPU load is on 40%, CPU load on 30%, VRAM 50%, RAM 20%
Everyone keeps saying to set on low settings.
Or excuse that with so many details/characters there will always be lagg.

I would say it’s just game/graphic performance problem. Game could easily use more hardware ressourcess to increase FPS etc.

I am by far no expert in networking, but I don’t think computer hardware, excluding network card, affect you getting disconnected. I assume this has to do with your internet or a hiccup in the communication between client and server.
Sadly I don’t have the answer to if these achievements will go away or not in the time to come. I want to say no, but don’t quote me on that.

Computer hardware definitely can influence disconnections. I speak from experience. I was a beta tester for StarCraft (the original) and I experienced frequent — i.e., every few minutes — disconnections. After replacing a couple of obvious components, the issue of overheating continued. I partially resolved it by opening the box and blowing a fan at the machine. Interestingly, though, the culprit was not my mother board or my video card — it was a near-death’s-door power supply. Once I replaced that, things settled and I was back in business.

And while I was not experiencing a lot of disconnections in relation to GW2, I will say that I had a few, and was noting increased slowdown in GW2 during boss fights. After investigation we learned my machine — while above min spec — was pretty obviously lacking in the RAM department. Pulled the RAM, added improved components, and things are going along swimmingly now.

1) The break bar is too strong. In 6 kills I never saw the break bar go below 50%. Failing to CC just makes the fight longer and not harder. Coordinating the CC is almost impossible with so many random people on the map who do all whatever they want. Doing a guild spawn is not possible.
Lorewise it also makes no sense that the much larger elder dragon Mordremoth is easier to break the stun bar than this small dragon.
2) It is still too easy (even Tequatl is too easy). It is hard to die unless you go for specific achievements.

Glider deployment is definitely being affected by lag.(caused by the high number of people present) In 7 fights so far, I’ve only gotten the glider to deploy in 2 of them. (yet it works properly minutes after, when most of the people have left) This needs to be worked on, but may be fixed by what they’re doing to help the Australia glider/lag issue.

Glider deployment has worked fine for me every time, no matter how much was going on, opening exactly when and where I want it at the highest point of the launcher arc. I thought it was a client side thing nowadays anyway since a few patches ago, but I may be mistaken. If so, perhaps you guys are experiencing graphics/processing power based lag.

The launcher/turret/mortar achievement is blatantly stupid. How early does one need to arrive (and not participate in pre-events) to have any chance to use a turret or mortar?

About the break bar… Perhaps it will break a little easier when half the people present aren’t spending every second of the event running back to the launcher and gliding to finish the “medic” and “lightning dodging” achievements. The achievements invite suboptimal play. (As is quite usual for new content).

The champions seem to drop champ bag so… I kinda foesee people will just farm champ bag at shatterer rather than help with the fight once they realize.

Also the break bar seems to be too scaled, it’s borderline impossible for pug maps because there’s way too many people doing whatever they want.

Really?

People have issues with disconnections and crashes usually only after arena-net does patches and the first thing you point to is hardware?

Seems there is no end to the verbal nonsense people will spout to avoid admitting Hey guys its our fault!

you did the same thing with dragon stand and eventually tried 64 bit which was a good choice but still people get disconnections although i will admit much much less often
although took over 18 tickets where customer/technical support would not see reason

for your understanding

Spec:

Windows 7 64 bit

6th gen 2.8-3.5ghz
16gb DDrr4 Corsair vengence
4gb 970 gtx
3 sdds Raided to give 1800 r 1500 w
adsl2 18mbps (no other downloads)
New drivers in use from This morning * and older ones

fps in lions arch 97-108 (downgraded via limiter to 60 only for stability in heavy areas)
fps in teq = 60 fps some times goes to 49

fps in shatter stays over 40 (but can dip certain spots to 5 fps) but the whole map is lagging during event

1: Skills cannot be used or have to be pressed 5 times or more
2: Skills flash as if being used but do not
3: people getting disconnected/ logged off etc

Did they have this issue before revamp – No
Likely Hardware issue? No
Likely ISP issue> – No

would be nice if we had had some people/forum reps with the ability see logicality and methodically.

I doubt this. Breaking the CC bar is not needed to beat the fight at all. So people will not do it if they dont care about the achievement at all.

Well, opinions differ. Any fight where my participation doesn’t matter much, cannot ever be awesome in my eyes. That’s why I will never put any energy in events like these except to pursue whatever little gratification I do find there. In this case, I’ll grab some achievements. Even in other areas, hardware can and does cause disconnection errors. Modems, routers both consumer and those directing general internet traffic, wifi (people discount how big of an effect wifi can have, both from interference and just being overloaded), ISP hardware and how they route traffic between consumer and ‘the internet’.

For instance, I have to use 4G (btw, Anet, please, don’t do 200MB hotfixes multiple times back to back x.x, and would be very nice if standard update wasn’t 75MB minimum now but anyways). The 4G modem uses wifi for my computer to connect to it. I had a wifi adapter failing and was disconnecting me constantly. Replacing it resolved most issues. Other issues I know are caused by my provider, between their towers resetting or just messing up, which happened a lot for a while, found out from talking to them that sometimes they go out of sync during updates, which happened nightly around the same time. None of those issues were Anet’s fault or responsibility (except the bandwidth usage x.x )

The current fight is definitely a significant improvement over the old one, and demonstrates the use of gliding in an interesting manor.

Praises aside, my suggestions for further improvement revolve around the break bars. As many others have said, the fight is possibly still too simple, and the break bar pretty much never breaks. I think that adjusting the break bar to be a more significant part of the encounter would add a little more tension to the fight.:

Adjusting the Shatterer’s overall HP pool to be larger, so that the damage increase from the break bar could be the difference between the fight succeeding or failing. At the same time, decrease the scaling of the break bar and increase the duration that it lasts, so that maps actually have a chance of breaking it. It shouldn’t be trivialized, but Having the bar broken once per fight on average would be a good place for a closer, but usually successful run. Maybe somewhere along the lines with the Wyvern Matriarch, where still the bar is pretty consistently unbroken, but sometimes even disorganized groups will be able to break it,or at least somewhat close.

Another minor suggestion, increase the health of the regen crystals, and/or make it so that the break bar doesn’t give them 100% damage resist, maybe something more like 80%. As it stands they currents explode almost instantly when the break bar is depleted resulting in people not getting kill credit on them.

I just think break bar is way too big for such short time, either make it last a bit longer or nerf bar itself.
It’s not easy making other 100 people CC, people only ever manage to CC like 30-40% in such short time.

Hey guys! FYI I’ve identified an issue with the defiance bar that causes the Shatterer to still take off if you “break” him in the last 2.8 seconds of the break phase. I have a fix for that that will need to be group tested before it can go live, so I don’t have an exact ETA for when we will be able to push that live, but we are aware of the issue and will get it fixed in an upcoming build.

Too bad you cannot break him at all on pug maps because seemingly 2/3 of the people have no idea what CC and break bars are. Break bars should never be this tough on open world maps with no options for guild spawns. I know people who are at 20+ kills without ever seeing the break bar below 50%.

I am also looking into the scaling of the break bar in general. I believe high population groups (IE most of them right now) have an unfairly harder time breaking him than small population groups. That’s one of the reasons why we need more time to group test this fix before we push it live; we need to test it at a variety of scales.

I think for full maps the break bar needs to be 50% less powerful than currently. That would still challenge all the maps I took part in so far.

I was just in a map that failed. It was glorious. I got 18 lightning dodges out of it in one run.

The achievements sabotage the event. Having people line up at the turrets/mortars, or doing nothing other than gliding to dodge lightning regardless of what needs to be done, none of that helps taking down the dragon.

It’s Tequatl’s tail all over again.

Like the new Shatterer, it is much more fun than stand here/ do this……. but why does it not give a mastery point…… There are not enough options to gain these if you hate jumping puzzles etc…. but then again you only have to get them right one time to get a mastery…….With all the effort and number of times you need to do this event to complete its well worth, SHOULD HAVE, a mastery point… my two penny’s worth anyway..

Well, 2 runs today, and 2 failures. But I finished 3 achievements, so I’m not complaining. There’s so much more time to work on them when the event goes on for the full 15 minutes.
