Shatterer Problem
“more difficult or impossible” ??? Umm…no. Annoying? Of course, which is why they do it.
You do know that you can just jump onto the launchpad to go airborn, right?
Aviator’s troll boxes are an issue in CF sometimes too (the guys pop them on top of chests).
2 easy fixes:
- Add a cooldown (or increase it if there’s already one) to using a box.
- Attach the owner’s name to the box: surprisingly, most trolls IG cherish their anonymity, and I’m sure we would see fewer of those boxes if they couldn’t hide behind it.
I thought that chests and such had priority over those items. It’s like how someone can out down a cauldron when doing the SW chest train but interacting with the chest had priority over interacting with the cauldron.
You can click the chest before using F anyways, but things generally go super fast in CF and at least I press the key as soon as I see I can interact with something, only to realize one second too late the text was “Use” instead of “Unlock”. Even if the chest had the priority, that would still be an issue since they often pop the box before someone digs up the chest.
PS: Yes, I know we can click the box a second time to remove the effect – it’s just it gets really old really fast.

I sounds to me as if this isn’t specifically a Shatterer program, but one related to launchers. Would you agree? If so, you and we can change the title and I’ll be happy to pass this concern along, as well.

One thing that could be done is to prevent those type of items being used on launchers. I’m not sure how much effort it would require or what other issues it could present though.
Maybe have the launcher itself act as a consumable in a way so that players get the one message that prevents them from using the consumable until they go to an area further away. Kind of like you can’t have two bobble head stations in top of each other.
Or do like the no glide areas and put an area around the launchers that prevents those consumables instead.

It’s not specific to launchers either, it’s a problem with player-placed interactable objects, including dead players. In the Salvage Pit adventure for example, dead people can make it impossible to do the adventure’s objectives.
The workaround in most cases is manually targeting the object, which gives it priority. As a possible fix, give an option to make player-placed objects only interactable if they’re first targeted, including dead players if you’re in combat or in an adventure.
It’s kinda due to not giving certain objects and intractable clipping (this may not be the correct technical term) but essentially items in the world needed for the event shouldn’t have an area where placeables can be spawned. If a merchant/trader/glasses etc…are attempted to be placed there you should get the WvW no valid build site (or something similar) message.

I think it’s an issue related to the priority of the [f] (interact) key, not of launchers specifically. Trolls also place “interactables” next to harvesting nodes, NPCs, building entrances, chests, and, yes, launchers.
The simplest-to-explain solution would be to put ‘toys’ and summoned NPCs at the bottom of the priority list (I have no idea if that’s as easy to implement as it sounds).
More complicated solutions include:
- Not allowing one to summon/invoke toys|etc next to existing interactables.
- Limiting the number of items summoned by an account.
- Offering a /report option (right-click on the summoned node and choose /report, which then reports the account owner for griefing).
- Allow the node to be picked up and moved.
I prefer the priority-change option, because that would also work for other types of trolling, including people placing mesmer portals next to nodes.
I agree that the priority should be changed with interacts of this type being something that if anything at all is present need to be specifically selected (including chatting with NPCs when you want to use a bank or anything else).
Walk on and jump. You can’t grown target place them so its not like you can easily position them where you want em.
No problem
simple solution (in theory anyways not sure implementation wise) make interacting with player placed objects a separate keybind
then it doesnt matter where they put it
Don’t forget the troll spot after Triple Trouble…right on the success portal back to the chest…anything really…merchant too

You’re right, this could happen anywhere the toys could be placed to interfere with interactive objects.
