Shoot n' Scoot
That’s not entirely true. I mean I jump into melee range quite often on the majority of bosses in this game, and so do some of my guild members.

so do i (playing ranger).
that’s why i’m playing GW2…i’m not just have to sit there like a rock pressing “1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, repeat until mob is dead” like in any previous tab-through mmo i’ve played.
“Only the finest of potatoes in my zerkburgers.”

I hear ya, I actually like jumping into melee and seeing if I can pull it off, and have Surprised some players with the fact of me surviving. Some fun stuff in my opinion.
Is now the official term for a boss you just use ranged weapons and dodge his attacks.
Are you sure you don’t just want to make an MMO slang word out of your nickname?

I wasn’t the one that started it actually XD I’ve been hearing it from a lot of players.

I would too, but some bosses hit so hard that not dodging can be the end of you. And with so many spell effects going off on some of these bosses, seeing an attack coming, let alone dodging it, is not possible. So even on my melee characters I often reside myself to ranged combat.
Yea there are a couple of bosses I won’t go melee. But for the most part I jump in. The best example of that is trying to melee with Giganticus Lupicus, worst idea ever…..lol
I usually shoot n scoot around most bosses. Of course, I do that around MOST enemies as that is my play style. Stay back, use traps or other allies/pets/turrets/summons to keep them from getting to me, and dodge away if they decide they want to crunch me.
Though I must saw one of my funnest times was when shapeshifted my Norn into wolf form, walked up to the Troll in Queensdale, and tanked him on my own until reverting to my normal form 30 seconds later. He died about 5 seconds after that while I was running to open the range. He didn’t like me much after what I did to him and he sorta wanted a piece of me.

Why would you do that? The only boss I would fight all the time with a ranged weapon is lupicus.
At every other boss you would waste so many ressources, your dogdebar would be at 100% for like 75% of the time, your second weaponslot would be unused, etc.
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.

You’re not the boss of me! >:[
Some of boss is better in range (because they hit too hard or do anti melee attack (knockback) often).
Back in my day we called this Kiting, you youngsters and your new fangled slang.
Back in my day we called this Kiting, you youngsters and your new fangled slang.
Back in my day, a Kite wasn’t much of a combat tool, but a harmless child toy that fluttered in the wind. Dodging and Counter-Attacking were just normal combat tactics. You youngsters and your new fangled slang. !
Back in our ancestors day in China a kite was used to drop bombs and infected corpses into opposing towns providing a strategic aerial seige weapon for whoever could make one fly.
You future youngsters and your new new fangled slang!
Back at the beginning of time, kites didn’t exist and all of this was just dirt and rocks. And vacuum.
Whoever came up with Shoot n Scoot must have been an Artilleryman or Mortarman in the military.

Ah, but it’s not a waste if your character is traited to do more damage with a full endurance bar, now is it?
