Should I be a Warrior or Ranger?
Warrior
50/50 GWAMM x3
I quit how I want
I have played both characters, in pvp and pve and i must say the warrior is simple and super fun, same as the ranger. Personally i would go for the warrior, the class is just great… but if you’re looking for more of a ranged sort of feel, then you already know my answer.
Remember that what’s good for one person is not good for an other. I find War to be hard to play as if I’m not using ranged weapons. Likewise, I like using swords on the Ranger. I’m odd that way. If it is known for using range weapons, I fight in melee and vise versa.

If you do not mind managing your pet, ranger is nice.
Tried warrior, the gameplay felt bland….
Warriors are super easy. You just plow down everything in your past with no problems.
Rangers are kind of more fun. My big issue with rangers are their terrible pet AI.
If you always want to be accepted in anything PvE I would pick a warrior.
Ranger. Warrior is kitten probably until the next balance patch.
In simple terms
Warrior = More versatility and ease of function. You can do anything in the game and you can do it well. You wont be the best at say 1 v 1s or pve, but you have a place in all of those things. Great class to be if you wvw often.
Ranger = You can dps very well with a power set up and have a place in pvp, pve and wvw, but you are not top tier at anything. You are naturally going to be more squishy if you go damage. You will out dps a warrior in practical wvw terms, but you will lack in your ability to support your term or do anything other then get high numbers. You can go condi bunker as well, but this is inferior to warrior condi bunker.
I play both ranger and warrior fairly often and thats the simple explanation I would give. In the end warrior is the safer choice.
I get bored playing a warrior, but ranger is one of my favourite professions.
In PvE I use a hybrid build where damage is split between me, my pet and AoEs and between direct damage and conditions, with critical hits about 1/3 of the time. So a bit of everything basically.
It’s not remotely optimal, but to me it’s fun. A lot like playing my elementalist or engineer. I can’t just stand there pressing 1 until things die, I have to think about where I’m standing, what my pet is doing, what the enemy is doing.
