I main ele, and it’s the class I’m best at, I’ve tried em all, but currently my ele is an Asura. I love Asura and their lore etc but you can never see any of their weapons or animations which is a real bummer. Currently my ele has 100% world complete and a bunch of other character specific stuff.

I was going to re roll as human, I have full celestial acendeded armor and trinkets and incinerator so I can move All that because it’s not souls bound, any reason I should stay as an Asura? Besides that they are master race haha.

Things to consider:

-Birthday gifts. Depending on how old your character is, it might be worth keeping for the birthday gift. Personally I wouldn’t worry too much if the character is less than 2 years old. Certainly the best/most expensive gift so far has been the 3rd birthday gift.

-Buying another character slot for 800 gems. Up to you, if you’re finding it difficult to part ways with your asura. There’s nothing bad with having two eles total, they could run very different builds. Even if you only play 1 character at a time, you could leave any alts at JP chests or rich resource nodes/node farms to earn a bit of gold each day.

-Consider a total makeover kit and make your character as large as possible. I have noticed that small and slender asura are very difficult to see. Large asura can be pretty big in the great scheme of things. Paired with bold armour/dyes, you become quite noticeble. If you don’t have a makeover kit available, they can be bough off of the gem-store, or you are guaranteed one at every 5k AP chest.

Hmm… personally, I would buy a new character slot, roll a human ele and try it out. Reinvision it as your main. If you are happy, excellent, you can delete your asura and use the slot for something else. If you aren’t, well at least you didn’t delete your main with 100% world completion. Having a 100% world completion character still available as you level your human main might be a good idea too, as it is convenient to have a character that has been everywhere (e.g. for achievements, karma vendors, guild missions etc).

Who can’t see the weapons or animations? You or other people?

If it’s you and seeing the weapons and animations that important to you, then reroll. If it’s other people, well, all I can say is most people don’t play that close attention to other characters. They’re looking at their own.

Are the weapons and animations important enough to you to play a race you don’t like as well?

I’d vote for keeping the Asura and trying out the human first. You might find [I certainly did] that while the Asura animations can be a bit harder to see, they’re very good indeed! The human animations are easier to see, but can be a bit clumsy and lifeless looking.

Also, testing on a larger character first might show that the real visibility problem is more down to the Ele visual effects nerf, rather than the size of the char doing the casting. If that turns out to be case [which, again, I found it was], then you might be pig sick that you deleted the first char and ended up with something not much better that you’ve now got to level from scratch.

Hey OP I had the same issue like after my first 6-12 months of playing. I really enjoy ele and had been playing as an asura. He had all the waypoints unlocked but I did full map completion on other characters. I just got tired of how asura looked basically. For me it was fun at first bur after awhile it just got old.

I ended up keeping my asura ele and use him for storage currently. As others pointed out the birthday gifts are nice. Plus I spent a lot of time playing him. I know it sounds strange but I would feel bad deleting it lol. But I have a human ele now that I play and enjoy it a lot more. If you end up getting ascended armor you can switch between the two as you feel like it just be aware that you can’t do that if you like to use cultural armor. But yeah that’s my take on it. I would not delete it.

the animations for the overcharged tempest are to die for, asura in a bubble (water) priceless, king of the castle (earth).

I have doubles as classes in different races. For example, my first guardian was asura, but she came up so cute that (I know, it sounds silly) after I got her all to lvl 80 nicely geared and everything I went ahead and made a sylvari guardian. Just couldn’t stand to have her in the middle of a battle. Now she’s just hanging around in cities and does holiday events. I’m fine with that.
Also have a Norn ranger (my very first char but third to level to 80) that I just got tired of hearing and also, for me Norns just look slow. So there she went, all geared up and pretty, now spends time in Rata Sum happily crafting and making me money. And I made another Ranger – a sylvari as it made more sense to bring a sylvari in HoT for the thrills.
I have a thief that I never brought past 20. I just can’t make myself like the thief playstyle. But because she was my 4th character made, now she sits in RS and does a great job as a mule and sale money collector.
I’m in the process to level a second sylvari necromancer just because the first is a power reaper, and I want to have one that would be a condi necro. I’m just having fun.
Even if you don’t want to spend RL money for another character slot, it’s not a biggie to make the gold to buy the gems.
If you have fun leveling up, actually see running around in maps and doing stuff as fun, go ahead and make another elementalist. Your existing one can be a mule and crafter. And get all the birthday presents.

Haven’t read through the thread, but maybe use a makeover kit and make it large sized so you can see movements and animations more first before you reroll…

Being an asura in a WvW zerg fight makes you near untargetable though. (trust me, I was part of a gank squad)
I have a guildmate who uses a human ele considering to make an asuran ele.

And you have a pretty strong racial skill which is a ranged daze, damage, which makes killshot ele possible

If you ever have a question as to whether keep a character or not you should always delete the character and start over. It’s the only way to be sure.

I have an asura tempest and even though I don’t play him much, whenever I see an asura elementalist or tempest it makes me smile because they are amazing to watch.

Don’t do it. Delete a toon you never use or buy a new slot. It’s better to have that toon and never use it then delete them and never have an opportunity to use again.
