I have sometimes seen people advertising “gold selling”. Should I report people who I see doing this?

You will be doing everybody who is interested in preventing further damage to the ingame economy a favour. And fewer gold sellers means fewer hacked accounts, so there is that, too. So, yes, report the scumbags.

Please do that. It helps us immensely in cutting down on RMT spam, and, more importantly, on nailing the people who steal accounts. (It’s often a stolen account being used to advertise, so your report can help on two levels.)

Go ahead and do it. You’ll feel better, like you did something. Just don’t expect anything to happen.

Not one of the many accounts I have reported for hacking were banned. Not even after providing video evidence.

Then again hacking in WvW doesn’t affect gem sales, so maybe your complaint will reach a live person.

Hi Gaile. As I also report gold sellers, I noticed they were still able to whisper me after I reported them. I was therefore wondering if it could be possible to implement some kind of system that would disable players/gold sellers of whispering us until we log out, after we reported them for verbal abuse, gold selling or scamming? I find it a bit weird that I would need to manually block players/gold sellers after I reported them in order to disable them of whispering me.

after you reported them the best we got right now is to only manually block players/gold sellers after reporting said player/goldsellers . other wise they still can whisper you .

While we are on topic of gold sellers,RMT and similar activities…Can you explain please to me and other players why nothing is done to botters in game?Because I`m in same position as the poster under your post. How many months have to pass before you(Anet) do something like ban them? Why i have to see at my block list every time I have logged in game last few weeks botters(all of them verified with video-recording software before reported) happily jumping between mid-level maps and gathering resources underground?Sure some of them appear offline, but i have seen botters shown offline gathering resources.Support is of no use-wasted my time writing to it.Received typical copy/paste answer and lip-service.Facts remain the same – botters online, nothing done to them.
And I have seen from thread for Star Wars…Really?Your colleagues apparently have no time to ban people in game who actively botting for few weeks, but have time to monitor game chat and ban people who talk about a movie in details.

She kind of already explained this. Botters are likely hacked accounts. So the account is hacked and bots and spams advertisements. Then the player goes through the process to get their account back and the botter is no longer a botter but the actual player who had been hacked.
