Should T3 Cultural Armor be exotic?

As the titles states, should the T3 cultural armor sets be exotics and not rares? I also feel that Arena Net should add an assortment of stats to it (berserker’s, knight’s, etc.). Honestly the only thing that’s primarily keeping me from purchasing it is the fact that I need to not only waste fine transmutation stones on it, but I need to buy another exotic set entirely to remodel it onto. I don’t wanna call out “money-grubbing scheme” yadda-yadda but that’s really what it is. I know it’s supposed to be the “prestige” armor of the game, but it just doesn’t have that feeling when you know you’re gonna have to:

A.) Grind out dungeons to get the right stats you want, and some stats like Knight’s can only be obtained through long (notice I said long, not difficult) dungeons such as Arah or Sorrow’s Embrace.

B.) Buy a separate crafted exotic set with the stats you want (or karma set if it has the stats you want for it, which a lot of vendors don’t). I crunched numbers and this method costs you an additional 21-28g.

Let’s not forget about the Fine Transmutation Stones (Crystals now), which if you weren’t fortunate enough to get them on sale, or get lucky on black lion chest drops, will cost you roughly 5g for 5.

or C.) Spend real money on gems and convert it into cash+transmute stones. The total cost for armor+T3+gems=$85 USD, this is not counting the T3 helmet or runes for the armor.

So therein lies my question. Should T3 Cultural Armor be exotic, and have more stat choices?

This has been talked about before. From what I’ve read players say No. Why? Cause everyone that buys it (minus me) say it’s just for X-muting onto another armor that doesn’t have kittenty stats.

or D.) Craft your own armor with the stats you want and use the level 80 transmute stones you get as rewards in the story line to transmute. Cost – time spent having fun playing the game.

Except for the cost of crafting the armor is more than buying it straight up, and selling the materials will actually net in loss due to the 15% market cut if you decide to sell them then buy the armor. There is no win-win with it.

Then if that were the case shouldn’t they just make it a skin? It would seem fair if they cut out the cost for the transmutation crystals.

You can pay some 120g for a set but get upset at exchanging like 4g for transmutation stones??
As for also buying exotic armor, shouldn’t you already have some you can transmute, and if not, need to buy or make some anyway? Everyone should have at least two sets of exotic armor anyway, and maybe three for melees.
I don’t know, doesn’t bother me. But then I have only bought a couple sets of T2 and mastered all the armor crafts. I’d buy T3, but in most cases T2 looks better. I’d petition for better T3 armor tbh..

What? cost of making armor? You gather it. Free!!
And yes, I’ve gotten the stones from main story, and still very cheap to exchange and buy. Make one extra exotic (for free!!) and sell it to buy gems. If you are short one, make one more exotic, sell and exchange, four left for weapons! win-win
I bought 25 from the recent sale (for 5 lvl 80’s, though may need to buy more)

Then there would be no reason to purchase Fine Transmutation stones and Anet would lose a sale. Again I’m just telling you what others have stated before. I would agree making them just Skin Stones would be great ,but it isn’t gonna happen.

It is just expensive is all. I play a lot, never go out to farm as a purpose, and have many characters with some or all tier 3 cultural armor skins applied. I didn’t rush to it, I just bought the armor and transmuted to crafted armors as I played.

If you are just patient it will come along in due course.

I tend not to min/max crafting and supply costs – I just play and collect as I go and crafting armors has never been problematic for me. That I might have made a wee bit more playing the TP doesn’t bother me at all. Making the armor and collecting the mats as I do events/dailies/etc is the fun, for me anyways.

Honestly, I couldn’t really care less whether they were exotic or not, but they have no reason to be. Transmute them onto your normal gear. Heck, you should have an armor set with the stats you want long before you can afford Tier 3 cultural anyway.

Yeah, I nearly have all the crafts done, and I’ve spent maybe 5g (that tough tier near the end ~300). I’ve sold single exotics for more. It’s just a matter of doing dailies, not selling it all off, keep collecting, grab ingots when you run by a node etc. Free! All free for the taking. No cost to you. Free armor sets, practically falling from the trees

Or… speed run CoF, sell your loot and buy armor from me off trade, I have plenty there right now (if on my server). It’s like what 24g a set? Yet T3 is 120g + 4-8g for transmute stones? After all, cultural says: I transmuted the right exotics onto this crummy skin rather than the simple three choices from dungeon vendors that probably have the wrong stats and will get the party to wipe

Seriously, you don’t have to wear cultural gear to get points for “The Emperor” achievement. If I am committed to get such achievement, I’m willing to pay gold for the gears even if they are fine grade.

Nice theory… but how does it explain the new F&F Weapons which are available as skins from Evon Gnashblade?

It should be, but it’s one of the primary things driving sales of fine transmutation stones, so it never will be.

What a crock. The primary thing driving sales of Transmutation Crystals is the simple fact that everybody gets to level 80 and needs them unless they want to be stuck wearing one of the same 3-4 skins from crafting and the dungeon of the month. The T3 sets are a blip on the radar in comparison.

Those come from black lion chests. The t3 can be bought via gold. Sure, while you can always transfer gold→gems and vice versa, the point is that one is exclusively a gem store skin, the other is an in-game-bought skin.

Theres literally no reason, if you buying cultural T3 you should already have complete exotic set and use T3 just for remodel (thats how its intended). If wou buying T3 armor without already having full exotic set you should rethink you priorites…
