Should birthdays be by account?
Agreed. It should be by account instead. +1
Well if they were by account age then wouldn’t you only get one each year as opposed to receiving one for each character’s birthday? Some of the earlier rewards were not so great, Queen Jenna, but the level scrolls, birthday boosters, dyes and such are nice to get more of.

But then its not a birthday. Well, not really. Plus, as mentioned, we’d get less free stuff. Some of it is really handy. I’d vote keep as it is.
No, it should be how it has always been, by character creation date.
Maybe a compromise? Have a special one for the account and another one for the characters?
I think that some of the better rewards should defintiely be moved to account wide birthday rewards. And then the stuff like the boosters can remain as a character bound birthday gift
No, they should be character birthdays, just as they have been for the last 10+ years.

The AP chests like an account chest already.
I prefer them as they are.
I like getting gifts on each toon.
I’m not against something to commemorate the anniversary of the account’s start date, but I think we get plenty of free stuff already. I’d rather see ANet polish the AP and existing birthday rewards to fit the game as it exists now than to work on a new freebie.
Too late to change it now. Be more loyal to your characters!
I agree with above – it has been a tradition since GW1 began. I’d rather it was kept as it was.
Please keep it like it is now, character birthdays !!
Please keep as is, I enjoy logging into one of 40+ characters and being surprised by a gift. Would like that dye gift to be in some way beneficial to people that have all the dyes unlocked though, just sitting in stash now.
No. It should be by character as it has been since 2005.
Or, make a one-time only toggle where a player can change it to account bound. When their account hits its birthday, it only gets the rewards a single character would have gotten. Everyone else that has it set to be based on character creation, will receive rewards for each character.
I prefer getting a gift for every character’s birthday, just as I did/do in GW1.
People are really asking to receive less rewards?
I like the way it is now, and receive the rewards per character.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)

It’s more that they want the rewards sooner, because they carelessly deleted a character.
In the world of Guild Wars? Never delete your first character, and never delete anything, it
always comes back around to bite you, every single time.
Character. I am a fan of more stuff.

People don’t really think things through on what they really want.

When you already have had your characters maxed for years now ….. its meh to get level boosts.
Birthdays are another method to inspire you to purchase another character slot instead of re rolling. It’s always been this way and probably won’t ever change.

I agree! I have been playing GW2 since beta but I literally NEVER got a b-day gift before because I am a mainoholic and keep rerolling my main because I want to play as a different race, LOL. Hopefully this time I’ll stick with Sylvari… It kind of hurts my feelings that I’ve been here since start and I don’t have the Loyal title, that’s all I want.
I would not agree with removing the birthday gifts for characters. If, however, the development team wants to add an account birthday present in addition, that would be a nice way to celebrate how long someone has been playing the game.
I got like 50 alts so I like the current system
Birthday per character has been the way that ANet has done things for over 10 years. Why change it now? I like birthday presents per character. I still go into GW1 to check on presents ……. and to do some playing.
I have played sense beta and I have one account that recently just got it’s its first birthday present, it truly should be set so that if the actual account not character gets one year
Maybe not on each character but at least one character.
I think both should exist. Just make the account one act like a single extra character, so you get 1 extra set of rewards. Nothing special or different, just extra. That way, you don’t have to worry so much about missing out on a 1-off skin unlock if you happen to delete an old character. For example, my account is about 800 days old, but my oldest character is only 700 something. Would be nice if I could get rewards according to when my account was created.
No, unless you tell me that your birthday is based upon your parents. Ofc a birthday is and should be by character.
Lol the people who constantly delete characters are the ones who want account wide gifts because it helps them more. The people who never delete anything and have a bazillion characters want character based gifts because it helps them more.
I think it makes more sense to have character based birthdays be just some boosters and the other gifts moved to an account gift system. It really doesn’t make sense to be giving out multiple Queen Jenna minnis for example.
I love my multiple Mini Queen Jennahs! Don’t judge!
Why would you ask to take them away??? :C

Uhhhh to have it, you have to be it… TO YOUR CHARACTERS!
Keep at least one character undeleted and consider that as an account birthday. Feel free to kill all other poor characters as often as you want.
It was per character in GW1, and is that way in 2. I would prefer it stay per character.
Te Nosce [TC]
Your characters celebrate birthdays, it’s not for account age or your personal birthday.
And I prefer this system I have 20 characters atm, I rather celebrate 20 birthdays a year then 1.
Oh I have about 9 or 10 mains atm… they are just mains for different purposes.
Just for your understanding 20 queen jennah’s might be a bit well… strange.
But 20 dye packs and 20+ leveling scrolls are pretty nice. Even if it’s just for Keyfarm
I have 2 characters very close to 4th Birthdays (8 weeks to go) and another 5 within 5 months of the 1st 2 (13-20 weeks). the others are 0-2 years old and will get gifts corresponding to their age.
I have a 196 hours in lost/waisted play time because of deleted characters. (difference Gw2 and Gw2Efficiency) which is about 2% of my total playing time (being 9437 Hours in the last 1404 days) (57 days to 4th birthday)
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.

I prefer to keep the GW1 tradition where the birthdays are character bound. Which is as it should be imo.
I think it’s a little sweet how each character is remembered. I don’t know about you guys, but my characters give me different feelings when I play them. I like how my ele is the oldest of the lot and how others seem to be younger.

No. I like character birthdays and character-centric systems. IMO there’s too much account bound stuff in this game already. Really makes individual characters less important in a game that’s supposed to have a very large personal journey/story component.

I like it the way it is. I have a lot of alts and it is fun for me to log in and unexpectedly get a present.
Also, as many have said, we would wind up getting a lot less IMO.
No, birthdays should remain unique to the characters you create. Plus, i love the free dye kit. Its a very welcome perk to playing this game.
No, they should keep it the way it is.
Characters, because I like rolling around in all my presents.
I’m excited to see what my characters get this year!
Imo, it should stay Character birthdays WITH the exception being to Revenant Characters created on Heart of Thorns Release….
To me, those who chose to make a Revenant on Heart of Thorns Release should be based on your Account Age.

Yay, another worthless Jenna mini. Birthdays in GW2 are the most disappointing ever compared to the ones in GW1.

Many players appreciated the 3rd birthday gift.

Back in GW1 I had to delete and remake my mesmer because at the time that was the only way to get those faces/hairstyle. Then a few months later they came out with the equivalent of the makeover kit thing.

The birthday blaster is fun and a unique idea, the free (and can be) expensive dye is also nice. More mini variety ala GW1 would be loved by a lot of players, sure. Most disappointing ever? Nah not buying that.
The issue with minis is that with the wardrobe there is no point in getting multiples.
