I sure am tired of having to patch the game almost daily to the tune of gigabytes of line time.

When I get a moment to play, it would be nice not to have to forego it to patch – only to have to patch again almost instantly.

There needs to be either a marked reduction in patching, or a way to have “playable” status reached early in the patch, then the rest load in the background, like RIFT does.

One patch on the 17th then one today. Before that was almost a month ago. Where are all these patches you are getting?

You should go try some other MMOs that go down once a week for 8 hours or don’t patch at all.

This game is not bad at all when it comes to patching.

I’ll take the 2 minute patches over not being able to play for many hours like some MMO’s do.

If it’s fixing crap that doesn’t work (such as Melandru’s preventing GM trait unlock, Guild Rush failing because of gate bug), we need to get it ASAP

You better believe I’d rather wait for a long download to finish than to organize a group of players and find out I wasted everyone’s time due to glitches

patching/minimal downtime is one of anet’s strengths

What? Gigabytes? Daily? Really? FF14 had ~4 hours maintenance for 3 days in a row, each day after the recent patch there, would you, maybe, like something like that? Or regular weekly 7-12 hours downtime like in WoW? What you say? No so sick anymore? I thought so…

Almost daily???? It’s been 3 patches in 2 weeks for this game.

Are you sure your playing the same game as the rest of us?

As your last post, dated last month, was an ‘I quit’ post, commenting (as every other post you’ve made) how horrid the game was, I’m not sure where all these patches you are concerned about are from. Not sure why anyone who has emphatically quit would load, and thus be subject to patches, the game, anyway.

Maybe the OP really did quit and his new game coincidentally patches a lot. This could be his inaugural complaint post. He just got his forums mixed.

Every other game goes down for at least 2-8 hours every week for maintenance and patching, and goes down again whenever they need to hotfix something, which can also take hours if they can’t get it right. In GW2, you log out, download the patch in 1-10 minutes depending on internet speed and the size of the patch, and you’re right back in.

Hardly disruptive to gameplay, and I fail to see the point in letting us play for those whopping 10 minutes at most that the patch needs to download. Patches are few and far between for this game anyway.

You’re sick of them fixing the game? That’s new even for these forums.

Also the only way u would see a daily patch is if u didn’t login at all between last month’s patch and the 17th which were very small patches….then yea u can call it a daily patch.

OP you might have an issue with your installation. generally there is just 1 big patch every two weeks and it generally doesnt go into the GB range more in the 100mbs range. The patches in between are generally pretty small 5 – 10mb

so if everytime you’re getting gbs of updates its likely the launcher is detecting some corruption and redownloading some files to fix it.

I would try to do a harddisk scan looking for bad sectors and/or even re-installing the game from scratch just in case.
