Sigil stack + weapon swap = buff reset

so the ele and other such classes are at a real advantage due to their attunement enabling different skills without the requirement of switching weapon, or am I reading this incorrectly (I’ve put references below)

Taken from here: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/runes-sigils-and-balance-updates/

Regarding mainly to this line…

“This type of sigil will have more strict rules applied on them, so that a player will no longer be able to gain 25 stacks and then un-equip the sigil.”

No.
Not on weapon swap , on weapon removal .
What many players did was, have a weapon in the inventory with a stack sigil, use it till max stack and then equip another weapon.

Charter Vanguard [CV] – HoD
Bardy Belzebuson – Ranger Sir Belzebu – Herald
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)

Ah understood, but it does say un-equip – when I switch weapon the stats no longer apply to me neither do the sigil in my eyes that sounds like it’s been un-equipped.

Which would mean we lose the buff.

It’s actually the opposite, Elementalists and Engineers are at a slight disadvantage now because they will have to keep one rune slot occupied with a stacking sigil while the other classes that can swap weapons will be able to have one set dedicated to building stacks/travel (warhorn speed boost, swiftness on kill, boost while holding melee weapon, etc.) and another to DPS.

No, swapping and unequipping are two completely different things. You still have the weapon equipped when you swap, it’s just not the active weapon.

The only profession having a adventage is warrior and thats only for on-swap sigils. Warrior can trait to reduce weapon swap cooldown. Those stacking sigils will be fixed so that you cannot have an extra weapon set with for example bloodlust sigils for killing foes and get 25 stacks and then change (from inventory) to another set with more useful sigils. Weapon swapping doesn’t remove those sigil stacks. This can also be thougth so that you must have the bloodlust sigil equipped in one of your weapon sets in order to get the bonus from bloodlust stacks.

Unless you decide to stack with your underwater weapons. In which case nothing changes except you can put two stacking sigils on those now. Extra fast stacks no downside besides having to go underwater. Also you can pull mobs from on land and go underwater and get stacks from them. The important part is that you are underwater when the mobs die, the mobs can be on land and you will still get stacks.
