So,
I’m about half way through getting my Legendary (The Juggernaut), and I have hit a road block.

Silver Doubloons

How the hell are people getting these? Ive done 10 jumping puzzles on my lvl 21 Eng. (nothing). Ive Mystic Forged 500 pebbles (nothing). Ive opened up over 200 Skritt bags (nothing).

In all my 400 ish hours playing GW2, I have never even had one drop for me.

Currently Silver D’s are worth almost 2g at the TP.
It looks like I’m going to have to nose grind for 500g – on one mat. (ITS INSANE)

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you’re already doing everything right.

Thats pretty much where all of them get dropped, seems like you are not having much luck getting them. Welcome to the pains of getting a legendary

Trust me, give up with the useless RNG in trying to have them dropped, just grind something (Champions, world events, dungeons) and buy them, you’ll waste WAY less money and will gain something back at least…

Keep up the grind. Anet expects you to grind 500-1000 hours for each mat, or to buy gems and convert them to gold.

All the individual mats are about that hard to grind.

I swear this game gets grindier and grindier to get things people wants/needs.

He even had a character at a certain level that he’d leave at the end of certain jumping puzzles, hoping the chest would drop them for him, but he got nothing. He did that each day for a month. I don’t know what to tell you, except that it seems like one of the hardest high level mats to get your hands on.

Doing that will even give Diminished Return (DR) so really, goodbye hopes…

I spend a few minutes a day opening the Pirate Chest in LA with my lv 21 toon. I get about 2 – 4 Silver Doubloons per week. Just keep at it, and they’ll come. If you’re impatient, you can buy them from the TP.

2-4 per week is a very, very high success rate. You must be very lucky in this game.

That’s pretty much in line with what I’ve seen. Usually 2 sometimes more.

Pebbles can give a copper or silver doubloon, nuggets can give a silver or platinum doubloon.

It’s actually a good idea to use a combination of 2x pebbles and 2x nuggets or 1 and 3, or 4 nuggets. Alternatively, you can use 3x pebbles and 1x lump. (Best idea is to find the cheapest combination of these… note that pebbles can be somewhat expensive because of silver doubloon MFing.)

The problem with using 4x pebbles is they need to get promoted to the “nugget” (lvl 20) category first, then it’s a random chance of either a nugget, the marks, or the silver doubloon.

I have 7 level 22-32 alts parked at a magnificent chest. I generally get about 1.2 silver doubloons per day. I sell them all, so I’m doing my part to provide supply and meet demand .

The chest always drops 2 gems (including marks) in the right level range, so I also periodically go and combine ALL of the marks in the mystic forge and that spits out more doubloons.

While waiting for the marionette, I farmed the dredge. I have gotten about 5-6 doubloons from them. I usually get about 30-80 bags per session and get about 1 doubloon every other set.

Not conclusive or anything, but it’s a place to try to see if it’s better (Since they mentioned skritt bags.)

I take 2 level 22 alts through 4 easy jp’s a day. I get 1-3 daily. Level 21 wasn’t giving me the proper tier most of the time on the item that can be a silver doubloon. Get it to 22 and that should help.

Ok, I parked 3 level 21’s at the magnificent chest on Lions Arch (pirate puzzle). Still wasn’t getting anything.

I’ll bump them up to lvl 22.

Can’t help but face palm when I read the posts mentioning JP farming with level 22 alts.

GW2 logic: to get an end game item, one must first ignore all sources of level progression and farm low level content.

^ Ridiculous. Anet needs to fix that.

You can get them on a level 80 as long as you use the dredge I mentioned. The jumping puzzle rewards are tied to the character level though. Which is why they need to be 22ish to get them there.

Yeah but realistically with diminishing returns punishing player loot, and how few and far between the drops are, it’s not very practical compared to repeating a dungeon for the 1000th time and buying them from the TP.
