Silver, Gold, and Platinum speculation
How much silver, gold and platinum did you just list?
Xunlai?
Cantha confirmed.
Never go full kitten.
“Soon”. Those slots have been in the bank for months and months now. Stop trying to drive up prices, yo.

I promise you that I have none listed. This post is simply reminding my forum friends of an investment opportunity, that’s all. So don’t be afraid to log in and visit your local Black Lion Trading Post representative today!
Trying to pump and dump? Good luck.
By Dwayna’s brassieres, why do people think I’m some type of market fatcat trying to make a quick buck. I have nowhere near the 3,000+ Precursors that the richest player has.
PS – I don’t pump and dump. I’m too busy playing T1 WvW.
Because you are a well known trading post troll?
Because you are a well known trading post troll?
People only think I’m a troll because I’m able to win economy debates with the truth and facts. If being a White Knight means to love the game and defend mechanics from people who make up conspiracy theories, then I’m I’m proud to be the whitest knight.
As for this thread, I’m simply reminding people about this locked Material found in your Storage Bank. If people stock up on Silver, Gold, and Platinum now, they can craft their goods for much cheaper than when prices skyrocket. Look at how Linen prices remained high with the introduction of Damask.
People been saying this forever.
I think the OP make the same type of post before. I’m not sure how many times.
He’s some what right. The problem is when Anet going to release it.
But remember there is a cap for mineral price. Platinum at most will spike a while. If it goes up any higher, everyone will be mining them, since it’s already really profitable(10 gold/hour) at the current price.
(edited by laokoko.7403)
Some people mine them, but others buy them from the TP because they don’t wanna waste time hunting for nodes. Speaking from the mind of a flipper, it would be very profitable if Platinum spiked to the same prices as Linen. But that’s just a passing fantasy.
It’s same thing as iron during lion’s arch invasion. If it spike, it just mean people’ll be making like 30 gold per hour mining. So it’ll last a couple days.
And it probably wont’ even spike because platinum is time gated. And probably not even used to level jewel crafting.
I can already make 10 gold per hour just mining rich platinum ore. Everyone will be mining them if it go up that high.
Gold and silver is probably the better investment. But beware of the crash. I bought silver at like 30 copper. and it crashed more.
A few month ago gold ore price spiked because people speculate on jewel crafting, if you bought it at that time, you probably lost a bunch of money.

Smooth Penguin likes creating thought-provoking threads. Some of SP’s posts are more effective at this than others. Regardless, don’t over-analyze. I’m sure SP isn’t “above” spiking the market, but I wouldn’t bet on whether SP stands to personally gain.
Xunlai?
Cantha confirmed.
Iirc, bad news. The Xunlai were active in Tyria, Cantha and Elona. Also, iirc, their agents appeared in the original campaign, before Cantha was released.
And it probably wont’ even spike because platinum is time gated.
You mean mithrillium?
I wouldn’t expect mithril to go up much (if at all) for that reason. Platinum probably will, but then it’ll be more worthwhile to harvest since it’s already pretty valuable. If it goes up beyond SW farming levels of gold, well… I have a lot of characters, so I’m okay with that change.
Silver and gold… could go up… but at the same time they’re so valueless now it might not be significant. You could buy a good few thousands of them if you really want to invest, I suppose.

Oh his threads are certainly…special.
Just a heads up regarding future crafting. Soon we’ll be able to get access to the locked material, Xunlai Electrum Ingots. It’s still unknown how these will be used, but current thoughts are that they’re connected to Ascended Jeweler or Precursor crafting. Whatever the case may be, it’s a good time to start investing in Silver, Gold, and Platinum. My recommendation is to buy as much as you can comfortably afford.

Disclaimer – Anet can change crafting requirements before the release of the Xunlai Electrum Ingots.
There is absolutely no new info regarding this, so you could have posted this a year ago and nothing would have changed until now.
The API for the XEI remains unchanged or modified, you can check that here:

I invested into jewelling mats right after ascended weaponcrafting went live in fall 2013 and listed them in march 2014, when I had to clear my guild vaults to server transfer. Thanks to the new API account keys, you can now check your listings offline, so I dont have to click “load more” countless times to see the last of my current 2500 listings on the TP UI but see 200 listings per page and can switch to page 13 with 1 click.
My jeweller 500 mats are the oldest listings that havent sold yet, after a bunch of stacks of recipes for givers inscriptions.

I DO actively amass the various ‘soft metals’.
By digging them up.
I’m far more interesting in increasing the total number of goods in the system than in handing other players my coin.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

Yeah .. was also a good time to invest into that a year ago .. right ? I sit meanwhile
on nearly one bank-tab full of gold ore that i harvested in the last year and have
not sold since i still wait for ascended jewel crafting.
Meanwhile i start to think we will never get it since ANet wants to force everyone
to do Fractals.
I don’t harvest silver of course and platinum gets sold because that my main source
of income.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Yeah, invest in silver and gold. Lol. I have several rows of silver ingot stacks in my guild bank and a number of stacks of gold ingots. I don’t bother to harvest silver unless it’s literally in my path and I don’t have to take more than 2 steps over to reach it. Gold, I might or might not harvest. Depends if I have to go out of my way to reach it.
Considering OP is pointing out something that has been in the collections tab for what? two years now? and has no new information to offer, I think I’ll hold off harvesting/buying more silver and gold for a bit longer.
ANet may give it to you.

I highly doubt anyways that gold/silver will spike much, if jeweller 500 ever comes around due to the amount of supplies stored in peoples banks.
gem stones (upgrade compenents) and dust will have a bigger spike, i would assume.
exquisite chrysocola jewels are still available for about 1/3 of their crafting value on tp, as they need 1 ecto and some ori to craft.

“Soon we’ll be able to get access to the locked material, Xunlai Electrum Ingots. "
Precisely where is the information to support this statement? Source please?
It’s spot has been in the materials tab, and on the TP since ascended materials for weapons were introduced. So this alone isn’t enough to infer this is coming Soon™.
Why platinum??
It was never mentioned to be needed prior to the time the info was deleted. It was copper, silver and gold. Real life electrum is an alloy of gold and silver, with rtraces of copper. So not a word bout platinum.
Also…the info is extremely old. It has been over a year since this info was available and it is more likely to have changed.
I also think that if this item is introduced, it will most be centered around ascended jewelry crafting. As a typical jewel exist from the metal and the gemstone, I expect that the ascended raw gemstone is much harder to get.
The reason why clothing materials are so expensive is cause they are needed for all armortypes (heavy, medium, light) for the insignia’s. In jewelry, the stats come from the gemstone, not the metal. So in line with the situation with the clothing materials, that is why I expect the ascended gemstones to be the hard thing to get.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!

I don’t think Smooth has a source. S/he has a history of making threads just to…. let’s say….. just to have a thread that gets a number of posts on it.

Probably not, but I asked anyway. It serves it own purpose.

Yep. I agree.. He needs to show a source when making statements like that, where he is telling people to invest their gold and tie up their inventory in something. It’s not good to tell people to do something like that just to have a thread that gets posts, but that’s what I think he is doing.

Silver, gold and platinium. It follows the pattern of all other ascended materials, so it requires t2, t3 and t4 mats of the same crafting category.
Just a heads up regarding future crafting. Soon we’ll be able to get access to the locked material, Xunlai Electrum Ingots.
…“Soon™” you mean. That material is known since the same time they introduced all other ones (deldrimor, spiritwood, damask, elonian squares). At the same time we’ve also been informed that all the crafts will be upgraded to 500 eventually (including jeweller, the craft that will likely utilize Xunlai Ingots).
So, we have known that for a loong time already – yet we’re no closer now to introducing those things that we were 2 years ago. In fact, we’re further away now, since we have confirmation that lev 500 jeweller will not be a part of HoT and surrounding content.
TL/DR; “Soon” in this case likely means “years away”.
Which the OP is well aware of, by the way. His post is nothing more than an attempt to manipulate the TP prices and make some people lose money.
Remember, remember, 15th of November

Always these pathetic cheap trys to influence the market, in hope people make instantly tons of sales with these things so that the values rise into the heavens, so that those which hope that this happens can sell then their tons of stacks they have bunkered for a long time to get rich…
Imo such cheap threads should get instant closed, because the intention behind these kinds of threads is more than obvious.
Whatever the case may be, it’s a good time to start investing in Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
I wager this guy just posted a pretty hefty supply. Buyer beware.
John has access to the data on all my accounts, and would perma ban them all if I attempted to manipulate the Trading Post. Hopefully that helps you guys rest easy that I’m not one of those evil/imaginary item cartels that control the TP..

You could also simply post one of these new API account keys, so everybody can check your listings.

There hasn’t been any new information as to when 500 jeweller and 500 chef are coming out, so I don’t understand why this thread was made really – unless there’s new datamined info you mind sharing? Or someone wants said materials to go up in price.
Regardless, I already bought 100 stacks of silver ore months and months ago. Couldn’t care less about other mats cause silver ore was the cheapest. And who knows when 500 jeweller and chef are coming.
At this rate, it probably won’t be out until HoT anyway, or months after its release, so no point thinking in advance right now – especially when Anet still haven’t even finalised the profession specialisations, all the new legendaries, fixed all the current bugs, guild halls, the list goes on…
I don’t think they permaban you for putting up large numbers of items to sell then coming to the forum to suggest buying those items.
Whether of not you did that, it’s exceptionally bad for you to make a thread suggesting to people they spend their gold on something, claiming it’s going to happen soon, when you DO NOT have any such new information. Imo, you deserve an infraction and a forum vacation for this.
ANet may give it to you.
Why will prices necessarily go up?

And whether people realize that the xunlai ingots are probably a relic of the abandoned ascended accessory crafting (replaced by what’s ingame now, just speculation though), and they havent found a way to remove it without breaking god knows what else.
I am pretty sure it is going to need the 500 stacks of Seaweed I have just put up.
Why will prices necessarily go up?
idea is that xunlai electrum ingots will be needed for 500 Jewelry. You can see the spots in the bank for this item. If you search Xunlai Electrum Ingots and mouse over, you’ll see the description says it uses silver, gold, platinum, and mithrillium.
Unfortunately this information is rather useless without 500 jewelry being out.
As far as we can tell, they haven’t abandoned level 500 Jewelry or Cooking. And with the expansion coming out soon, speculations are that something might come out that uses the Xunlai Electrum Ingots. I trust Anet to have a clear plan of action. Otherwise, why would they code in the slots in our Item Storage for useless materials?

For the same reason they coded the dragon mini slot into the US game, even though we won’t receive the item.
