Silverwates chest farming is no longer ??
It still happens. You just might not always be able to find one going. Keep checking. I’ve been part of several in the past few days.
Though there are still chest farms, it seems like since HoT, there are less of them and the ones that run open less chests overall than before in one run.
There are less people playing GW, hence less people doing the chest train. Besides, they nerf the train when HoT was release.
No it’s because everyone needs shovels for guildhalls.

Chest trains still happen. Also nerfed it? I am making MORE money from it now than I did before the expansion.

They did decrease the number of chests to slow it down

Yes. I was with a group last week that counted all the chests and it’s definitely down by about 10 or so chests.

Thought they required more than tagging to qualify for the reward now. But I could be wrong.

Wasn’t there a big infographic saying 7m accounts created, before that 3.5m sold, now the most recent statistic was 3.1m active accounts (1.5m being non-f2p).

5 Million Sold.
2 Million F2P
1.5 Million daily Monthly actives (As pointed out by Astralporing.)
Another 1.6 Million in F2P
So we’ve seen an upturn, but thanks to F2P. Otherwise yes, a decline in player base before HoT.

Biggest thing slowing it down is people unwilling to use their shovels because they want to hoard them for guild halls but still want to grab loot.

That’s not “daily actives”. That’s monthly actives – so people that logged in at least once in a given month. Which happened to be October (so the month of launch). Notice by the way, that it means only slightly over 1 million of paid accounts logged in at least once in that month (3.1 million total, 2 million f2p). And the launch brought back a lot of players that logged at least once to check things out (many of whose left again soon after).

Well, the guild halls do require some massive numbers of them.
Remember, remember, 15th of November

Ah! You are indeed correct, that’ll teach me for posting with little sleep and coffee! I’ll edit to make this apparent.
The SW chest farm is still a thing and it’s still fairly easy to find a map doing it UK evening time (lfg tool, server time 8pm onwards).
There are definitely fewer people doing it but I assume that’s because some of them are now playing in the HoT maps. For a while I was sure we were seeing fewer chests but recently I’ve had a few runs where there were loads of them. It’s still a worthwhile earner if you can cope with the somewhat mindless nature of it.
