Why can’t I identify unidentified objects? why are they just junk?

It’s an object that you found, could not identify, placed in your bag for later, and were convinced to sell to the vendor.

I thought they were “unidentifiable objects”, as in “I really have no clue what this is/was but it’s got gold and silver in it so screw it, sell it for scrap value”.

Because thee is not Item Identification skill like in UO

Because we don’t want to call them what they really are.
“Little Timmy’s cruddy looking art project”.

What we’re really picking up is collections of projects and art that weren’t really good, but we don’t have the heart to say it out loud.

Because the cool glasses you get when you create an engineer keep getting broken.

Besides, I’m pretty sure they’re just golem droppings. You’re better off getting rid of them ASAP.

It’s actually lint from inside the bag or item you salvaged. Since lint can be dead skin, hair or any other substance, it had to go as unidentified. Good thing is 2 of them is a silver….they’re worth more than minor runes or sigils…go figure.

GW1 had identification kits. Maybe this is something that will be added in the future… probably to the gem store.

Government conspiracy. These objects are all apart of a tracking network that provides GPS positioning to the dredge.
