Sinister gear
The recipes are very much obtainable and will be likely for the rest of the game’s lifespan. Living World season 2 content was all intended to be permanent.
The Ascended version is Veretta’s gear.
You can buy the recipe on the TP for between 1 and 4 gold each and you can buy the recipe for the insignias in Silverwaste. Exotic will cost you 20 silver + 400 Bandi Crest and Ascended for 20 silver + 600 Bandit Crest.
Keep in mind that sinister could is great mostly for Solo PvE. It’s a huge investment for a stats that is not that great in most PvE group content. You can still do your ascended gear if you want, its just an head up.

Verata, after the famous necromancer of GW1
And they’ll become cheaper over time, unless all people stop farming SW.
Oh and if you are going hybrid, it also works for rangers, thieves, warriors and enigneers.
Mesmer? well okay it could work but do not expect too much power…
It synergizes very well with Rabid for Warrior and Necro, allowing you to also grab 2 or 3 pieces with toughness instead of power (I’d suggest legs, torso and head. the remaining parts, including trinkets and weapons sinister. It will make necro’s and warriors tougher as DOT asks for some sustain now and then 1-3 pieces should be enough. )
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.

Thanks for all the fast answers, I’m still having doubts between berserker’s and Verata’s for ascended, but I’m gooing to try the exotic version anyway.
I mostly do solo PVE btw.
I’ll be honest I run 4 characters with sinister atm (as I have 15 I can experiment).
I have and ascended sinister set, and sinister jewels (as far as they are avaialable on my warrior, with ramoagers weapons, It allows for a powerfull hybrid build, but it’s not top tier DPS, in very crowded areas, I seem to need some toughness, either from traits or from armor pieces, As I also have a Full Rabid set, I tend to choose the amount of tankyness.
On my necro I noticedsinister being pleasantly powerfull allowing me to run a dps set and a conditions set, for selectable damage and damage support.
On ranger It show Itself lacking conditions and the weapons being not powerfull enough to compensate for the lack of damage. SB and A+T can do enough damage with the conditions combined with power, when you’re overwritten you’ll notice damage being lacking.
On mesmer, you still are a condi user only with some power to open doors and destory objects. This was my least succesful change, leaving me with a Hybrid PU who is powerfull enough, but lacks the neccesary tankyness.. rabid is needed if you get caught without a invisibility. or you’ll die, Tagging is a pain cause all condition weapons are slow firing…

Thanks for your detailed answer.
I’m currently running a carrion build, but it seems to be lacking in power. I also tried berserkers, but never really enjoyed it, so seems a bit unwise to make an ascended version of that.
Do you have any tips about a build for necromancers with sinister gear?

I’m using Ascended Sinister on a condi thief and it works great on anything up to large scale bosses where my conditions can be over-written by others. I still get full credit for kills, even on EoTM champions.
As for WvW roaming? Hehehehe…. I’ve been having a ton of fun with that.

Ya but there is a difference between you feeling it work great and it being greatly effective. Sinister will be a great set of stats in Solo situation, but when you reach 4-5 ppl its all about luck. Remember that if you have a good condition build you probably don’t see any difference in your dps in a group. Since you have the highest condition dmg its you that crush other people’s condition, not the other way around. So everything looks great on your side, but not that nice for other ppl, even zerker build can do 500-1000 dps that you remove.
In the end it doesn’t matter much. If you do mostly open world pve, solo pve and wvw roaming, then Sinister is excellent. Its when you go into dungeon and fractal that this can be a bit more problematic.
Since OP seem to just have enough for 1 set of ascended gear, he should be sure of which one he will get the most out of depending on what he prefer and where he play the most. Its bad if he do a zerker ascended armor and don’t like it, but its as bad if he do a sinister gear and start to enjoy dungeon where sinister is not a good choice.

Not true. All conditions are first-in, first-out. A 2 second, 50 condition damage bleed (lowest damage that I think can actually be applied) will force out a 1 minute, 2k condition damage bleed and vice versa if the stacks are at 25.
