Skill Point Challenges (wish I could solo)
They’re not a way to train you in anything. They’re just standard issues mobs with extra health. They’re a “challenge” meant to “challenge” you, and reward you if you survive.

What you say is a testement to the point I am trying to make. Are some of them high hp mobs that hit a little harder, yep. Are all of them, not even remotely.
One of the better ones I’ve run into was a Mezmer with high HP, medium damage, barriers, debuffs, boons on herself, norn transformation skills and knockback.
The higher level ones tend to have more skills and aren’t willing to just sit in melee with you the entire fight.
Seriously?
You were not able to do any of them solo?
Thats odd, I always thought that the skill challenges were there to test your skill, and playing on my Guardian and Engineer, I was able to do MOST of them solo.
Some I was not able to do solo simply because when I did them, there were people around and they helped out.
And on the topic of challenge.
They did provide me with quite a challenge, every one of them forced me to use every skill in my disposal and forced me to dodge and run around waiting for my skills to go off cooldown.
So I honestly don’t understand why you were not able to do them solo.
Maybe you tried to face roll through them, without spacing and dodging.
Or maybe the Engineer and Guardian are simply a better PvE characters.
People say that this game does not require skill or anything, I think they are wrong, proper spacing, and utilization of your skills makes a world of difference, there is a reason why I was able to take on a ranger and a warrior 2v1 on my Guardian yesterday and come out victorious, and its not because the Guardian is omfgbbqsause OP, but because people don’t utilize their skills properly and don’t pay attention, and think that just clicking auto-attack and blowing all your cooldowns at the same time is the way to win, it is NOT.

Please read what the OP said before you post a reply. Your reply is irrelevant to the issue he has with skill points.
Yeah sorry about that, I suppose I jumped the gun on this one
In a way I do agree with him that the skill points can be easy because of others.
But on the other hand, the skill points aren’t really easy either, I think the point of making them public was that is someone couldn’t beat them alone, they could get help.
And I actually would be happy is we could get BOTH of these. Perhaps another sort of skill-challenges added to the game that you can only do solo, and get a reward for them as well.
On the contrary, I don’t think it’s a petty thing to mention at all. I think it’s a good sign that folks are suggesting little touches to the game that would be enjoyable. As the saying goes, sometimes it’s the little things that count, and if clients are suggesting small enhancements it (usually) means the core base is good!
At any rate, I agree. I’d like to be able to trigger the skill points again for either no reward, or a normal mob reward (nothing crazy). I enjoy challenging myself and down the road when more people are dispersed across the world and you can actually get a skill point to yourself, it would be fun to try.
I believe you actually do get event participation and rewards if you help someone else after you have finished the skill point, so I would think you should be able to get something if you do it again yourself. Just nothing so ridiculous that the reward would be worth farming.
I would do many of them again and I wouldn’t even expect a reward.
Run dungeons. That’s how those work. They cut rewards on subsequent runs, so should work out great for you.
Just like Dynamic Events, and the open world at large, these challenges aren’t intended to be a personal challenge for you to overcome. They are a world challenge, in effect.
This game isn’t instanced other than dungeons and story line quests. I have no idea why you have an issue with anyone else getting involved in gaining a skill point.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
Some I can solo.
Some I can’t.
It just depends.
One time I was really surprised my Mesmer was able to solo one. It was a rough fight and really fun because of it.
That is the point. Live with it
You can always redo them after everyone leaves the area. there are a lot of maps where it’s nearly devoid of people. I got most of my skill points solo (and nearly all my skills opened by level 40+) by going to other maps and soloing those unused zones. You won’t get ppl jumping in simply because there’s noone there.
