Having three utility skills seems a little limited and a bit limiting on the builds. Why don’t the heal skill get moved to skill five and skill six become a utility skill. That way there’s four attack skills and four utility skills to balance things out. While we’re at it, why not make the elite skill optional to make builds even more varied. Having only four weapon skills would also give eles twelve weapons skills and others eight weapon skill versus twenty ele skills to ten for other professions’ skills right now. This would also limit the amount of usable skills in combat too.

Main handed weapons could hold three skills while offhand skills could hold one. Some weapons could have two and two. Some combos could change the third skill. Some combos could change the second skill, depending on which weapon is on which hand and which weapons are used with which weapons.

Oh and skill type redundancy may help strengthen some builds. Example: multiple healing, protecting, CCs, AOEs, etc.

Porting over more GW1 skills could open up a lot of builds and provide more filler skills to keep builds interesting. Fine balancing could be done later.

you’ll have utility skills to do that, and your weapon will still look legendary. or skills could get combined.

You can always swap out utilities based on the specific encounter (except for PvP mid-match). If you had more utility slots, you could just grab it all and forget about the adaptability part, which is actually one of the nicer things in GW2.

Considering it’s also a core part of the game, I don’t see it likely to be reworked, especially as your proposal doesn’t really aim to “fix” anything…

I vote +1 for having an elite be optional, that’s how it was in GW1. There were tons of builds that never even used an elite skill. Usually every build had a way to self sustain your own health, so the heal skill needs to be there, especially without a dedicated healer in this game. In GW1 you could get away with it since Monks and Ritualists could be built as pure healers. I vote completely no for the 5 skill being taken away. I already press 1 too often, so having less options to not press 1, I am against.

While we are on the subject, 5 is supposed to be the “pseudo-elite” of your weapon set, high CD, but tons of damage. I can think of a lot of classes where the 2 or 3 is ur best hitting ability on certain weapons, i.e. Blurred Frenzy for Mesmer, Hundred Blades for Warrrior, Whirling Blade for Guardian, Rapid Fire for Ranger

kind of wish they would change that

And if eight usable weapon skill is not enough, have the ability to switch to a third weapon that has customizable skills, for a total of twelve usable weapon skills instead of ten.
