I was just wondering whether salvaging exotics has a higher chance of giving ectos than salvaging rares or not.

Rare for just for ectos.

Exotics for globs of dark matter for ascended stuff and ectos will drop too.

As to higher chance, well I don’t know, but it is not worth it to buy or salvage exotics just for ectos.

I think it has a higher chance of giving more ectos rather than a higher chance of just giving them. That’s more anecdotal though and not based on specific facts to hand

Don’t waste salvage kit on rares, sell them, they sell for 25s minimum always.

Run dungeons and buy the 210tokens exotic weapons and then salvage them, the chance of GoEs is higher and you can get Globs of Dark Matter too.

Worst advice ever.

At 0.85 ectos (and ecto prices at 31-34 silver) per rare with mystics that 25s rare should most definately get slavaged at current ecto prices.

As a matter of fact, any rare below 29 silver should get salaved currently.

The dungeon advice also only applies to dungeons below CoF since higher dungeons it’s better to buy rares with tokens and salaveg those.

Crafted exotic armor has highest bids of a little over 40s, and those are profitable to salvage for ectos/orichalcum, even without profiting from the dark matter you get beside that.
