So the more i read and the more i play, i have come to the realization that they turned everything to 10 to make you believe your playing a more optimized game. In reality this has caused so many bugs, exploits, misfires, ect. When they fix the bugs and turn it down a notch the specialization huggers will be in for a shock, and the real truth will be revealed!

I have no idea what’s being said here, but I think you’re saying something about bugs and saying new changes break the game? Turn what up to 10 and down a notch?

The last time when some HoT stuff was added, a ton of bugs were created. The Jungle Wurm in Caledon was turned into playdough. This specialization/new trait stuff is such a massive rewrite to the game that of course it needs to be rebalanced and tested over time. We’re also talking about a complex MMORPG where we have a few hundred people(?) who develop for the game and release it to literally millions of people worldwide. Balance and bugtesting for all that isn’t really a cakewalk and said millions of people will probably do stuff the devs wouldn’t think of when they’ve got a big list of other things to do on a time and budget, even if some of the bugs we’ve seen the past few days are odd to have been left in either after testing or when the patch was applied to everyone’s builds.

I think the OP is trying to state that ANet is just fancying things up to look nice and pretty, when in fact they really aren’t. People are under the spell of the “WOW!” factor and are overlooking certain problems in the game. Once the “glitz and glamour” of the new stuff wears off and they have to balance out all the changes they put in, people are going to be extremely disappointed in what is left over.

That’s what I THINK is being said, at any rate.

I’m more interested in what this “real truth” that still has to be revealed is. Maybe it will finally give an explanation as to why hot dogs are sold in packs of ten and hot dog buns are sold in packs of eight.

the wow factor has always been an problem an so is the band aid fixes to larger issues.

I could be referencing the 1 shot engi, or the symbol guardian (that has had its trait suspended). Do you not feel more powerful? of course you do,this is to usher in the specialization huggers who will defend this system because they feel stronger and therefore credit the new changes. In order to restore balance, they will have to turn the dps down and fix the bugs, what you will be left with is fewer choices. Look at the state of PvP, is now unplayable and is ripe with burst builds designed to exploit this new found power. Gone is strategy or skill, is just about burst now.

Either way it is nice to know you agree with your own posts.

Then post as the person in your OP, Storm, if you want to discuss the topic. Don’t do things like this that you delete later when you are caught posting from an alt account in support of your own post, see image below. Also, techincally posting from alternate accounts is against forum rules. I doubt it is upheld much but food for thought.

Feel free to continue your conversation on the topic, but you should do so as the OP and not as your alt that “could not agree more”. I’m sorry to go off topic and expose you for posting from an alt in support of your thread. It must be rather embarassing. So to no longer derail this thread I am out.

The OP is obviously one of the players that is against the new specialization system. He’s saying the bugs in the game that makes certain combos really good may or may not be intentional so players dissatisfied with the specialization system might be placated to accept it because you’re capable of really interesting things currently…but he goes on to say he feels when they end up dialing down the changes to be more balanced, such an occurrence would justify his stance that the specialization system isn’t good.

Personally, I think it’s a misguided stance because the specialization system wasn’t meant to be better than the old system, just more easier to implement additions to. Sure, the amount of traits in a line is more simplified but it narrows what a line tries to accomplish so more trait lines can be opened that do new things. The limit might be stifling but any other system wouldn’t really work with elite specs, which was the main goal.

This argument is at about a 2 for logic/effort, a 10 for trolling, and an 11 for #SpecializationHugger. There were other threads that communicated this idea better. The title isn’t even discussing the topic. The topic isn’t very clear.

In response to the vague topic I’ll say I don’t think anyone is going to be shocked if Anet continues to do major balance changes. There are a ton of threads with people saying they do not like these changes. People played for years now before these changes and if damage is scaled back from a “10” to where it was previously, it isn’t going to be game breaking because that is where it sat for so long. Personally I like harder content. We do not know what HoT holds. I am hoping (probably vainly) for the recent upgrades to be a response to HoT content; that Anet felt this content was too challenging so players needed buffed. But only time will tell.
