Slight Rant about Armor
At least Sinister armor is easy enough to craft once you have the gold for it .
For celestial you will need to actually farm the charged quartz crystal that Anet in all their infinite wisdom decided to limit by once per day… And hey, guess how many you need to craft a single insignia?
Freaking 5!
So 30 days of absolute nothing while you get the charged quartz for your armor. And that’s just the armor.
If you decide to craft the trinkets as well. Thats 25 days of waiting again, since you will want 5 of them.
And you know what’s even worst? If you have the gold, its faster to craft the ascended version rather than the exotic! How exactly do we reach a point where its “easier” to craft a better version of an armor set?
I know Anet hates to receive support tikets as suggestions, but Im sending this as one, in the hopes that something change. This is ridiculous and just encourages even more people to just play zerker, zerker, zerker. Since it’s so easy to acquire.
Yea, I know i already looked in to celestial I main an engi and both sinister and celestial are stats I wanted to play with but being more of a casual player don’t have the patience nor inclination to try and ascertain these items the way that Anet has decided to implement them. So either anet fixes what is clearly a broken method or meanwhile I will just bite my time as there are a lot of good looking titles coming. Heck if its better Ill take a sub based game over this really gets frustrating when you play for as long as I have and really feel like the time you have put in really hasn’t been rewarded nearly as much as it should.
There’s quartz crystals in Dry Top.
So I decided id like to try out the sinister armor but Anet in all their glory decided to make it only obtainble by crafting it which is just really poorly thought out, it feels lazy as if the over a million karma i have sitting collecting dust should just continue to do so why not add in karma vendors with the new armor rather than forcing someone to blow all of their money to craft to 400 then buy the recipes then aquire the mats which drum roll requires even more money.
Your accusing anet of being lazy because they make you craft it? Adding something to a vendor is far more lazy than creating new recipes, new mats and new areas to obtain all this stuff so you can craft it.
Sounds like you are the lazy one here. You just want to be able to log in and use currency you already have so you can get the shiny new items right away with little to no effort.
Before you go on a ridiculous rant next time, maybe you should think about it before posting.
I think that maybe the problem here might be that nearly every step of the crafting process is account bound.
When it was the Ambrite weapon skins that sorta made sense: what you were farming/grinding/crafting for was a “prestigous” set of unique skins. But when it comes to the accessibility of stat combos, I think maybe there should be more wiggle room.
Like with ascended gear: most of the steps are all account bound stuff, but there’s that one window of opportunity where you can sell your Damask, or your Deldrimor, or you Elonian. This way, people who are willing to wait on daily time gating can sell those items to people who aren’t.
Maybe if there was a part of the celestial/sinister process that was tradeable, that’d ease up the pressure/frustration/tedium. I dunno if it should be the end result or the insignias or whatever, but just an idea.
And just for context so you can tell where I’m coming from: I’m the type who makes my own Damask, Spirit Globs, Charged Quartz every day, and have quite happily crafted multiple sets of ascended armor, and scores of ascended weaponry. The current system doesn’t bother me at all. I’m just trying to help find solutions for my fellow players who are bothered by it.

Ever hear of the pot calling the kettle black maybe before you judge and insinuate something you should think logically. My idea of adding it to a vendor had thought behind it thanks it would require the player to accumulate said currency to purchase it similar to dungeon tokens or wvw currency. My stating about the lazy aspect was because it is only these new stats that are required to be crafted to be had. This is lazy as it goes against basically ask other forms of ascertaining gear in the game. So next time your decide you want to judge and accuse someone you should think first.

I can craft anything except Mawdrey or anything else that requires pristine Fractals. Why? Because I do not like running fractals and you can only obtain Pristine fractals by running fractals.
See where this is going?

I don’t need to rethink what I said. Adding something to a vendor is not a well thought out idea. It’s just about as lazy as it gets. This game is already so heavily weighted to just gaining gold (currency) so you can buy whatever you want on the TP. What this game needs is more stuff that you have to go out and get and make yourself and that is what anet is doing with stat sets like this.
And to your other point, celestial can only be crafted as well. So, this isn’t the first stat set that you have to craft on your own.

Mawdrey is a luxury item, specific gear sets should not be. Its the same reason a lot of people don’t like ascended gear since it requires crafting instead of having a variety of methods.
