So I’ve been a fan of the Karmic Converter ever since I started using it. It’s become one of the highlights of my daily routine, and is especially exciting when something rare pops up, even if it’s not the most profitable drop I get that day. After using it for a while, I started noticing some common patterns. So I tracked what appeared in the shop UI for a month, and I found something that might be mildly interesting.

Previously, sources (mostly consisting of the wiki page) indicated that drops looked like this.

• One of: Bag of Obsidian (Normal/Medium/Large)
• Two of: Something else

After observing the drop rates, I can say with confidence that drops look more like this.

• One of: Bag of Obsidian (Normal/Medium/Large)
• One of: Rune Bag (Masterwork/Rare), Sigil Bag (Masterwork/Rare), or Bag of Gear (Masterwork/Rare)
• One of: Karmic Crafting Bag (Tiny/Small/Light/Medium/Large/Heavy), Bag of Ascended Mats (Dragonite/Empyreal/Bloodstone), Trophy Bag (Fine/Masterwork/Rare), Bag of Scrap, Bag of Educational Supplies, Box of WvW Supplies, or Bag of Jewels.

I’m sure I’m not the first person to have noticed this pattern, but I’m hoping to be the first person to have written it down. I’ve updated the wiki page to reflect this research. However, I’m not skilled enough to know how to split the Drop Research page into 3 separate tables. If someone could make that happen, that would help tremendously with further research.

Thanks, I too noticed a pattern to it.

Most days I just click on it and go “meh” though. I figured for the gold and time the thing cost me it could at least give an exotic once in a while.

They also have it so all of the best drops always appear on the same day. Large bag of obsidian never pops up without his friend bag of rare gear. Then some days (like today) there’s nothing worth getting and i just close the window.

For the wiki drop table, use the “ask a question” feature on either the wiki page proper or the drop table to suggest breaking the data collection into 3 tables. Those who do know how to set it up will discuss the best way to go about that.

That’s probably the next thing I want to research. Very curious to see if any patterns emerge.
