Sneaky sneaky devs - TP Preview
:o
One of my most desired features since launch.
A masterstroke to make a part of this update. Awarding some laurels of my own now.
nice, love how the game keeps on improving. Keep up the good work dev team.
honestly why this wasnt in the game at launch is a huge ???? seems lazy to wait so long for something so simple and necessary
Awesome, nicely done
Oh went did this get in? Can’t say I remember being able to do that last night…
It’s something I hate most about the TP, that I can’t preview what I’m buying. Great that they got it in there now!
Part 1/2 of a dynamic duo
FINALLY.
Now I can see how awesome the Juggernaut is gonna look or if I should focus on the predator.
“A release is 7 days or less away or has just happened within the last 7 days…
These are the only two states you’ll find the world of Tyria.”
Right clicking on trading post takes you back to previous selection. There is no such feature as equipment preview.

This is for the February patch; it is not implemented yet.
I’m glad they actually decided to add this feature. They must’ve rushed this game when they released it and then forgot about this feature cause this is like the most common feature ever. I was actually shocked when I couldn’t preview equipment on TP back in September.
Well, I guess this article is now outdated:
Preview Items in the Trading Post
Check out how a weapon looks by itself, how it looks when sheathed, and how it looks when wielded by your character.
Aw yeah!
This game just keeps getting better by the minute
Glad its finally in. No more wasted gold on exotics that looked alot cooler in the icon than in your chars hands.
yes im too lazy to google haha.
Did anyone look at the February content as of late? Did anyone notice this perchance:
Preview Items in the Trading Post
Try before you buy! You’ll have the ability to preview items in the Trading Post before you buy them. Simply right-click an item icon and select “Preview” to see the item equipped on your character. Check out how a weapon looks by itself, how it looks when sheathed, and how it looks when wielded by your character.
They must have snuck it in there while we weren’t looking.
Funny, I am at the TP right now and can not preview any items….
lunarminx, February update not live yet.
Funny, I am at the TP right now and can not preview any items….
Coming soon in a free content patch to you! (February 26th – 11 more days)
So then it wasn’t really snuck in period.
Nice find…and kudos Anet!
So then it wasn’t really snuck in period.
Yes it was comma, this feature wasn’t on the Flame & Frost page a couple days ago.
Why are we talking in punctuation question mark?
Good Job on implementing this feature!
Not snuck in at all. They’ve advertised this addition on Facebook and Twitter (and maybe the forums as well?)
Wunderbar!
I’m elated this feature is finally getting implemented. But to be honest, I can’t begin to fathom why this wasn’t live during beta. Actually, I can….the game is really getting close to where the it should have been released in the first place. Not a rant, I just think they rushed release to beat MOP, Rift xpac and Christmas. Again, I’m so glad they got the TP preview figured out.
Glad this will finally be in game. Great addition to the trading post.
Finally starting to turn into a game that it should have been at launch.
Not snuck in at all. They’ve advertised this addition on Facebook and Twitter (and maybe the forums as well?)
You’re not really paying attention to what you read, and sadly this goes for a lot of people that posted here as well.
First, if you’ll look over here:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/february-2013/
I pointed out that the preview feature has recently been added to the February update list, as it wasn’t there when the page was first added. I said nothing about it not being mentioned before.
Next people rushed into the game to see whether it’s there or not… Again, my post was referring to the February update features list.
So please guys, please pay attention to what you read before you comment.
Finally starting to turn into a game that it should have been at launch.
But this doesn’t actually fix any of the core problems with the game… it’s just… skirting around the big issues. I hate to use the term “polished kitten” because it’s potentially too strong, but holy kitten this game is a big pile of greatness washed over with a bucket of wasted potential and letting us preview things isn’t going to help that any time soon.
really bad engineer

Starting to.. still have TONS to do to make it better. I’ve personally given up on them fixing the big issues. It seems they’d rather nerf than fix.

I think chipping away at the mountain of issues is still a step in the right direction. Even one fix is still one tick off the huge list.
By the way, what are the big issues you’re pointing at? I’d just like you to name them. By asking this, I am in no shape or form saying the game is perfect, far from it. I have my own gripes with the game, but I’d just like to know what you think is still wrong with the game.
So not only TP preview but also preview as combat mode? Awesome
Months of waiting for one of the most requested features? Wow, I shudder to see this game in a years time.
Too little, too late…

I never read about up and coming patches, or what was patched when I update, I wait for the breaks….
Your last sentence states it as if it was already done. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO…..
Before you tell people to pay attention to what you write, write what you mean. Snuck is past tense sneak. If it hasn’t happened yet, they are trying to sneak it in.
This does not exist, and cannot be done.

This game is fine for some, for some of us, I guess we have realized it is not for us.
For me, crafting and selling has always been a part of my play besides, pve, and guild raiding. I enjoy farming and crafting with the mats, in this game, the high end stuff that sells( the reasons I enjoy it ) relies on a random drop not a farm-able materiel to make that item. That is all end game crafted items. So the reward for the hard work is not there, sorry, I want to feel rewarded for spending hours doing something, that’s my thing. After exploring the world, running the 5 mans there isn’t much else to do since I really do not like to pvp, If I did, i guess I would be playing a FPS and not an mmo, like my son does.
So the world is done, 5 mans raids been there done that, though I have decided I want to run how or ac 46 times for two toons. I run for guildies all the time, my major side hobby in game is not there, that breaks the game completely for me.
I know you didn’t ask me what was wrong but this is my issue with the game. Thats ok, so many guildies are signing in less, we have been together for years with various games, they will jump back into vent with something new and off to an new adventure we’ll all go, in the mean time I update aoc, my true love.
Congratulations Arenanet, good news is new
“You can’t have more than 10 HS decks because that would confuse people”
“30 fps is more cinematic”
Sweet, now add dueling PLEASE!
Aztro [Engineer] Extro [Warrior] Xilent [Thief] Tyrax Deathrain [Ranger] Krogax [Guardian]
Of all the things that we players have been asking for, we can count this as “96 bottles of beer” still on the wall. We’ll take it down, pass it around.
Nice that it’s done and will be rolled out soon. Why wasn’t it here at the launch?
And now, how about dealing with the Thieves?
It’s appreciated. Hopefully they’ll fix not being able to preview the Juggernaut and a few other weapons too.
Finally something much needed added..

No, you weren’t paying attention, not even remotely…
I specifically said “did anyone look at the February content” which can only be found on their main page. There is no other place to see what content will be coming in Feb. Then, I referred to the specific piece from the article. And if you’d look at the February content page, you’d see February 26, 2013 clearly displayed at the top of the page. So, if you somehow assumed they will be adding content meant for the update before the update arrives, then it’s still a failure on your part, not mine.
You say you never read about upcoming changes… then you blame me because you don’t want to stay up to date on new announcements… Again, this post referred to that article, which I clearly stated. But since it’s up coming changes to the game, something you avoid reading about, it’s still a failure on your part for not staying up to date then blaming me for sharing said content from the update notes.
Finally, they snuck it into the update list, is right. I wasn’t referring to the game, so obviously it wasn’t snuck into the game, I was referring to the features list. Therefore, snuck is correct, as in “they snuck (past tense) the preview feature into the update list”.
Glad I could clear that up for you.

Dude….
They listed a feature, it is not snuck in, get over it. You’re fired.
Awesome. So far I was a bit meh about the Feb patch as other than the next installment of Living Story, there was nothing in it that remotely interests me (guild quests aren’t all too exciting for you if you’re guildless, I suppose), but this neat little feature is something I really appreciate!
Dude….
They listed a feature, it is not snuck in, get over it. You’re fired.
Dude, this is something a lot of people wanted to see implemented. It’s new to the update and to us, since it wasn’t there last week. What’s there to get over?
The funny thing is, the post you replied to initially wasn’t even aimed at you, I was replying to FlamingFoxx. Do you often interrupt conversations then change the topic onto yourself, while insulting the people who’re talking and tell them to get over whatever they’re talking about?
You don’t even really care about the game, so move on so people who actually enjoy the game can talk.

Great news, looking forward to it.
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
Just a quick thanks, I’ve wanted this for a while and am looking forward to its introduction.

Actually they wrote a facebook post and twitter post about the new trading post preview, so I wouldn’t really say they “snuck” it in at all. In fact they advertised it for those that are willing to look.
(edited by EliteZ.1682)
I would assume the reason it wasn’t in at launch was due to their web based TP client making previewing more complicated to code.

Sigh. At this moment, the facebook and twitter posts happened 20 hours ago. I created this topic 23 hours ago…
The fact of the matter is, for some reason people are focusing on the wrong part of why I made this thread. Look past the “information being snuck in” part and rather focus on the fact that we are getting a preview feature. Rejoice!
(edited by Azjenco.9425)
O_O
I thought they already implemented the feature early due to the wording. lol
Anyways, nice content coming up. Can’t wait.
I’m sure they didn’t list it until they were certain that it would make this upcoming release.
That way they wouldn’t potentially promise us something before they could deliver it and push it back.
