Nothing wrong with amputee type stuff, but I’m not too fond of the design. I’m not into large high boots and they’re far too big on my characters. So are the gloves. SWTOR has some cool stuff like that. I find stuff like that in item malls amusing though because you’re basically paying to saw your leg/arm off.

In a game with Bunny Ears, Panda Hats, Bee Dog Minis, Electro Pink Dye, Quaggan Backpacks, and Wings galore… you really think a Peg Leg is going to lower the floor on fashion?

I think the large boots fit with other pirate themed things in-game like the Privateer armour and Pirate Captain’s Outfit

They don’t suit my character either, but I think they do fit the theme of pirates in GW2.

I appreciate the new cosmetics. I like to use mix and match armors on all my characters and my ranger was one of my only heroes for whom I needed to create a look. With the addition of the peg leg and the pirate hook, I decided that a pirate theme would be perfect for him. I went ahead and did the best I could using a makeover kit and the wardrobe. I might change his dyes a bit but overall I like how he turned out.

I don’t even want one, but I wish they would have made it more like old pirate movies. Right now, on Asura it looks weird.

Love the pirate themed stuff, I just wish I could find a character from the Monkey Island series with a peg leg and hook to accompany my Guybrush Threepwood cosplay character.

Actually the hook doesn’t look bad for one of my characters, but the glove would make her other hand look like an oven mitt. I would have preferred the glove to not be so big, or even having a hook in each hand would be cool if it could be an option.

Don’t forget what is September the 19th …. http://talklikeapirate.com/wordpress/

Nothing better than the smell of black powder going off in the morning.
Really cool to shoot cannons and pistols and rifles from a national monument (Fort Zachery Taylor – and yes we had permission from the gov to do it) at the “invading” ships.

Considering new Lions Arch was founded as a pirate city, I’m surprised we havent had this sooner.

Not sure what OP’s gripe is. But I’d love to see a metallic version, much like Black Sail’s John Silver’s peg leg.

When I heard about the legs and arms I was interested as it could mean more disabled characters. Seeing the implementation though I am not so sure.

Can we get the footprints updated with the peg leg? It’s a pretty awesome addition to the skins, but one thing I noticed about it is that it doesn’t have any custom footprints, so having it updated would be pretty neat.

Muh immersion, and so on.

Oddly enough when I first saw it I thought it could be a tie-in to the Paralympics. Maybe because I was watching The Last Leg (UK comedy chat show about the Paralympics) at the time.

It was only after that I remembered it was also Talk Like A Pirate Day and realised that was a more likely reason.

I can never forget Talk Like a Pirate Day — it’s my wedding anniversary! (24 years this Monday, woo). Didn’t plan it that way, Pirate Day was inaugurated after I was married, but given that I’ve done pirate reenactment, Pirate Feasts, etc, it just adds to the day’s specialness.

Now as to the peg and hook, hmm. The idea is great, and the poster above with a norn made it look really good, but at least in previews on my non-norn alts the opposing boot and glove are monstrously huge to the point that I really don’t want to wear them at all. Maybe it’s a bug? I mean, why would someone who’s lost an extremity then completely hobble the other one’s effectiveness? My guys and gals would trip over those huge boots and be unable to manipulate anything in that — what did someone aptly call it, ah yes — oven mitt.

I like it…but I am slightly disappointed.

It’s back to the whole “Outfit v. Skin” debate. This could have been great to mix in with the “Pirate Captain Outfit”..but it can’t. Outfit = Outfit…all or nothing.

Yes I know it can be used well within the “Skin” category, as we see from the poster above. (Nice job on that look for your Ranger, btw. Very cool.) I want to pick this up…but since I can’t use it with my Pirate Outfit(which I picked as soon as it dropped on the Gem Store the very first time, long before they were made “outfits”)…I may decide to pass.

I do because I can
I can because I want to
I want to because you said I couldn’t

I’ve always thought it was a bit strange that my female norn engineer – who is the maximum height and the largest build – looks much better in the ‘bulky’ medium skins than my medium build, slightly below medium height human ranger.

It seems like it should be the other way around.

Shoulder skin. If the parrot actually has flight animations and only comes to rest when you’re standing still I’d pay 800 gems for it.

Also, the peg leg is hilarious given how fast GW2’s combat is.

My other half and I used to get paid to be pirates in festivals and shows from Key West to Panama City in Florida along with corporate parties. (Most of the time the pay was usually the hotel room, lol. 10 days hotel paid in Key West is pretty good pay ) Where did you play?
