Your skin will wrinkle and your youth will fade, but your soul is endless.
I love this city. I love wandering the streets, the place feels so vibrant and alive. I always feel better going there. However, things being as they are in Tyria, every time I visit this city, I always get this nagging feeling of impending doom. and I can’t help but wonder…
…when will it be destroyed?
I would like to see PvP in there, such a good map for pvp.
Urban warfare ftw? It could be cool to make a PvP instance of it in the free-for-all style of Activities. And I don’t even like PvP!
OT, yes, any time you have the “last bastion” of a race you have a narrative invitation to wreck the heck out of it. I remember an animated movie, I forget the name — Treasure Planet maybe? — where humans were a despised nearly extinct under-race. I think Sylvari are getting that role in HoT but y’never know what can happen to others.
But if it’s destroyed how will the Queen transverse it without shoes?
I’m genuinely curious (and glad to see something besides all the over-entitled QQ about the expansion…) Where and what do you think this impending doom over Divinity’s Reach is going to be?
Mordremoth?
I think he has better, closer and more tempting targets in the Grove and Rata Sum. Rata Sum because of all the techno-magic that the Asura have there wouldn’t just be a snack, it would actually be a full meal for him. And the Grove because… well, Sylvari…
Jormag?
I think he (and the other Elder Dragons) is too far away to really to really threaten Divinity’s Reach. And in Jormag’s case, his forces would have to go through then Kodan, Norn and Centaurs first. And speaking of Centaurs…
Centaurs?
They have been fighting Humans for hundreds of years and while they could probably do a lot of damage to the surrounding area if they gathered all their forces for one huge attack, I just don’t see them being able to overcome DR’s walls and defenses. At least, I doubt they would have better success then the charr did against Ebonhawke, and the charr have /much/ better war machines…
Internal strife?
I honestly think if there is any real threat to Divinity’s Reach, it’s from the internal power struggle between the Queen and the Council of Ministers. But that is a struggle for control, and neither side wants to see DR destroyed.
So again, I’m curious… Where do you think this impending doom for Divinity’s Reach is coming from?

Are you thinking of Titan AE?
I might be. Whatever it was I saw it a very long time ago and just once.

Good question, and good reasoning. My answer to that is: I don’t know.
It’s entirely possible that after 10 years of fighting since open beta of Guild Wars 1 that the peace and complacency of Divinity’s Reach makes me uncomfortable, or even paranoid, and expecting danger everywhere.
you better be knocking wood and spilling salt when you say things like that >.<
Didn’t one section of the city just fall into a big sinkhole? I remember Riot Alice saying her dad died that way even though the official story was no casualties…
So whether that’s because of poor foundations, sinkholes forming, too much old catacombs or mining underground, dredge, skritt, whatever, I would be most afraid of more of the city falling into a pit. But I love that city and I hope none of those things happen.

That would be interesting.

Interesting… but no… Lets keep PvP where it belongs.
Though, that /does/ bring a new thought to mind…
With the upcoming rise of the influence of Guilds after the fall of the Pact, this could be quite the set up for something potentially bad later on…
Sure, we need Guilds for the fight against Mordremoth.
But what will happen afterwards? It’s a good thing to have such organizations when you have a clear and present danger like the Elder Dragons to focus them on. But somehow I doubt that once things settle back down again, those same Guilds are just going to quietly disband and go away…
This could very well be the early beginnings of the Second Guild Wars…
Mind you, this would likely be many, many years in the future, if it happens at all… But still…

I don’t recall Riot Alice saying anything like that, but you’re right about the hole. What we could see down there looked … interesting. Maybe “wrong” would be a better way to put it, as if it was man-made tunnels but they were upside down.
It’s all been covered up and filled in, but I think they’re going to revisit it someday. There’s something important down there, and it’s only a matter of time before someone goes after it.
I love this city.
…when will it be destroyed?
Is that a request?

Oh no I don’t like where this is going, now you done it and gave the lead writer an idea….
Bah. The Queen’s Watchknights will handle it. After all, wasn’t that why they were made and see how good an idea it was?
Though it might be interesting if the Sylvari players go under Mordrem influence when they go there and start attacking everyone,

I meant the part about it being a good map for PvP. An instanced version.
I wouldnt want to convert the actual open world version of the map to PvP.

Oh Gods no! I was merely wondering if it was premonition or paranoia
~starts packing bags~must leave Divinity’s Reach right away~

PRIMORDUS!!! No one has a friggin clue where he is, just that he’s PROBABLY still SOMEWHERE underground. He could rise up anywhere in the world and in the process destroy the land around. As in the ground is falling sort of thing, like if he came up right under DR it would cave in or something. In fact, nowhere is safe with that logic… AAAAAARGHHHH RUN FOR YOUR LIVE PEOPLE NOWHERE IS SAFE
Yes yes yes make it so!!!!! DOWN WITH DR!!!!
Crash a drill into it!
(wait you already did that)
Have more death from underneath like when that hole opened up on the west side. Doesn’t matter. Divinity’s Reach will burn in the future doom!
Make the Queens latest watchknight robot… lets call it ummm Divinity Prime; a large humanoid robot that shoots lasers and destroys communist; malfunction and cause the destruction of Divinity’s Reach while players try to stop it and eventually have to nuke the entire place with bombs. Silly Humans are always fiddling with dangerous technology.

You took our Ascalon…you’ll never take our Divinity!!

YEA! huh why am I yelling?
Divinity’s Reach is unstable anyway. They’ve already had one collapse, if you want to know why just exit into Queensdale and hang a right.
Half that city is coming down. Soon.

What? What’s over there, I never saw anything.

Because the pain still runs deep

??? It’s just a river
A rapid river. Rapid water erodes bedrock and building material. Worse, that river can’t be older than the Divinity Dams, and look how much of the bedrock it’s cut away already.
Aw man, that’s where I keep all my stuff. >.<
Can always blow up Black Citadel or Rata Sum. Grove = Attacked, LA = Attacked, DR = Attacked (Scarlet’s MInions). But Rata Sum and Black Citadel = Peaceful (for the most part hehe).
Blow it to bits.
For every human murdered, ill buy another gem.
For the Charr!
While I think it was an interesting move to destroy LA, if you ever touch DR I’m gonna seriously cry.
They need to fix LA, Kessex Hills, and areas destroyed by the Mordrem like Fort Salma and Concordia before they even consider destroying something else.
Divinity’s Reach will be destroyed. The asura do it.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Split_Second
But a bit more seriously: constantly attacking the home cities gets boring fast. Every city has already been attacked at least once (Rata Sum and Black Citadel were small scale stuff though, during the Personal Story, once and twice respectively; DR got attacked small scaled during the personal story but large scaled during Season 1; LA got attacked large scale once in PS thrice in S1; Grove attacked small scale in PS, large scale in S2). It’s gotten to a “been there, done that” point now.

I think the river is likely a remnant from the earlier designs of DR, which included a river between Shaemoor and DR proper (between the map portals) that showed bridges – it connected Lake Regent (west body of water) to Lake Doric (east body of water) at the dams. So the river would have been an offshoot of the two dams to regular water on the northern side.
Yah, a previous before launch map had a waterfront walkway, wharf (?) area there,
Bobby is clearly a charr player.
You took our Ascalon…you’ll never take our Divinity!!
Guilty as charged. I main a charr ele.
You might only need to wait until Tuesday. Necromancers are pretty mad…
They love destroying the best zones, Kessex, LA and Timberline (although not as bad)….RIP
Whoever designed Timberline needs to find a company that won’t destroy their work :P
But if it’s destroyed how will the Queen transverse it without shoes?
Er… By walking? Or running? Perhaps even skipping too, or maybe even a bit of parkour?
It’s already been attacked once (by Scarlet). So is LA and the Grove.
So if a city is going to be attacked it should either be Hoelbrak, The Black Citadel or Rata Sum.
Please let it be the Black Citadel. The Charr don’t mess around when it comes to war, their city is an amazing fortress. The battle will be epic!
Don’t let it be destroyed. Look how long it took to rebuild LA! And that place was mostly wood!
Oh come on, leave the humans alone ,they already suffered enough.
Destroy the black citadel instead or if you really want to destroy DR give us another human nation
What will happen to the queen without Logan? Is she pregnant? The white coat is he going to live a comeback with the appearance of muursat? The city will you she is mortified?
Humanity will finally disappear in favor Asuras .. (what …? I like the demons, it is not my fault = ()
The following in the next episode!
(edited by Louveepine.7630)
Rata sum needs to be destroyed, arrogant Asurans have it coming. #longlivemordremoth
Dear sir, above. I protest for once in every mmorpg, I love a race, I demand a perfect city for génis = (
I love this city.
…when will it be destroyed?
Is that a request?
Only if I get a refund for my royal terrace pass. I dont want to stand around in ruins all day

It is!
More large scale changes to the world that makes the world feel alive and changing!
LA being fudged up was annoying as hell, but it wasnt directed at the devs, or game in general. I really just wanted to go kill mordrem.
